VENTRE =: ÉCONOMIE — ÉCONOMIQUE
POITRINE = POUVOIR — JURIDIQUE
TÊTE = AUTORITÉ = ENSEIGNANT

1° Gourant des gouvernants aux gouvernés, analogue au courant du système nerveux ganglionnaire aux organes viscéraux;

As long as the belly receives the food it needs, the economy functions well. If the brain, of deliberate purpose, wishes to restrict food, the stomach cries out: « I am hungry, order the limbs to give me the food I need. » If the brain resists, the stomach brings ruin upon the whole organism and, through itself, upon the brain as well; the man dies of hunger.
As long as the lungs breathe freely, a vivifying blood, that is to say a powerful one, circulates through the organism. If the brain refuses to keep the lungs working, or drives them into an unhealthy environment, they warn the brain of their need through the anguish that can be translated: Give us pure air, if you want us to keep the machine running. If the brain no longer has enough authority to do so, the legs no longer obey it, they grow too weak, everything collapses, and the man dies of asphyxiation.
We could push this study further, but we think it is enough to show the reader the interplay of the three great powers: Economy, Power, Authority, within the human organism.
Let us now find these same great divisions within society.
Gather into one group all the wealth of a country together with all its means of action — agriculture, commerce, industry — and you will have the belly of that country, constituting the source of its economy.
Gather into one group the entire army, all the magistrates of a country, and you will have the chest of that country, constituting the source of its POWER.
Gather into one group all the professors, all the scholars, all the members of all the cults, all the men of letters of a country, and you will have the brain of that country, constituting the source of its authority.
Do you now wish to discover the scientific relation of these groups to one another? Then say:
BELLY = ECONOMY = ECONOMIC
CHEST = POWER = JURIDICAL
HEAD = AUTHORITY = TEACHING
and establish the physiological correspondences.

What will happen if, in a State, Authority refuses to satisfy the just demands of the governed?
Set this out analogically and say:
What will happen if, in an organism, the brain refuses to satisfy the just demands of the stomach?
The answer is easy to foresee. The stomach will make the brain suffer, and in the end the man will die.
The governed will make those who govern suffer, and in the end the nation will perish.
The law is inexorable.
Thus, in the physiology of the social body as in that of the individual man, there exists a double current:
1° A current from the governing to the governed, analogous to the current from the ganglionic nervous system to the visceral organs;
2° A reactive current from the governed to the governing, analogous to the current from the visceral functions to the nervous functions.
The Teaching, Juridical, and Economic powers constitute the second current.
The first is formed by the Legislative, Judicial, and Executive powers.
Such are the two poles, the two pans of the synarchic scale.
We have chosen this way of setting forth M. Saint-Yves d'Alveydre's system in order better to bring out, for everyone, its dominant character: an analogy always strictly observed with the manifestations of life in nature.
Such is, and will always be, the hallmark of a creation connected to true esotericism; any social system that does not analogically follow the natural evolutions is a dream and nothing more.
One sees that, all told, the discovery brought to light in the Missions is that of the law of the governed — Teaching, Juridical, Economic; for the law of the governing — Legislative, Judicial, Executive — has been known for a very long time, transmitted by the pagan world.
To determine scientifically the existence and the law of the organic life of a people; to determine likewise the life of relation from people to people and from race to race: such are the problems studied in the works of Saint-Yves d'Alveydre. Everywhere life must follow analogous laws; and so, to speak only in passing of the life of relation among the European peoples themselves, one need not be a great scholar to see its unnatural organization. Picture to yourself, indeed, individuals behaving toward one another as the great
