DES ÉVÉNEMENTS
La ligne de la Fatalité saturnienne indique l’époque exacte des événements passés, présents et futurs.
Tout ce qui modifiera quelque peu l’existence est indiqué par un saut de la ligne, par une coupure ou par une autre ligne venant se mettre en travers.
La direction de ce saut à droite ou à gauche indique si l’événement a influé sur les occupations intellectuelles ou sur la position.
Une ligne de Fatalité droite et sans coupures c’est une vie uniforme au point de vue des événements et des idées.
Voici comment on voit les âges (ceci est très important).
Suivez sur la ligne ci-jointe :
La ligne de Fatalité est coupée :
f 0 Tout en bas par la ligne de Mercure ou celle d’Apollon ;
2° Plus haut par la Ligne de Tête ;
3° Plus haut par la Ligne de Cœur.
Ces trois points, surtout les deux derniers, sont des points de repère infaillibles.
La rencontre de la ligne de tête et de la ligne de fatalité c’est
20 ans juste.
La rencontre de la ligne de cœur et de la ligne de fatalité, c’est
40 ans juste.
La rencontre de la ligne de Mercure ou d'Apollon et de la ligne de fatalité c’est 10 ou 12 ans.
En divisant par le milieu ces diverses lignes on obtient les âges intermédiaires :
30 ans au point du milieu de la ligne de cœur et de la ligne de tête (voy. la figure), et ainsi des autres.
On ne trouve ces données dans aucun des livres « classiques » sur la question. J’en garantis la vérité dans 90 cas sur 100.
On regarde donc si la ligne de fatalité se coupe et est traversée par une autre ligne au niveau de l’un quelconque de ces points et on en déduit l’âge d’un événement. Ainsi supposons une main qui ait le signe suivant :
Un peu après la vingtième année (rencontre de la saturnienne et de la ligne de tête); la saturnienne fait un saut à droite.
Vous dites :
A 20 ans vous avez changé vos occupations Jet vous avez eu idée de vous lancer dans une vie plus intellectuelle.
Mais voyez la figure. Une ligne traverse la saturnienne un peu après vingt ans et se dirige droit vers Apollon.
Vous dites :
A 20 ans vous avez décidé tout à coup (la ligne qui coupe la
fatalité indique une action de la volonté) de vous occuper d’art.
De là un changement dans toutes vos occupations.
Cet exemple développé par la pratique arrive à tout expliquer.

DE LA CHANCE
La chance est indiquée par le nombre de lignes qui doublent la saturnienne .
Ainsi voilà une main qui a delà chance de 20 à 30 ans, qui la perd de 30 à 40 et qui la rattrape à 40; mais au point de vue de la position matérielle.
La très grande chance est indiquée par une ligne doublant la saturnienne dans presque toute sa longueur.
DE LA VIE PHYSIQUE ET DES MALADIES
Les maladies se voient dans la ligne de vie. Je ne puis garantir absolument les prédictions de la mort à tel ou tel âge d’après les considérations de cette ligne.

Ainsi j’ai examiné dans les amphithéâtres des hôpitaux environ 200 mains presque immédiatement après la mort et je n’ai observé la vérité des prédictions que dans 60 0/0 des cas environ.
Il faut donc corroborer les enseignements de la ligne de vie par ceux de la ligne de fatalité et surtout par l’examen des deux mains.
Les âges sont ainsi indiqués dans cette ligne (on trouvera dans le traité de Desbarolles la clef de cette division).
Une maladie grave dont on relève est marquée par une interruption de la ligne de vie, interruption suivie de la reprise de la ligne.
Le danger d’apoplexie est indiqué par l’arrêt subit de la ligne sans reprise.

Les maladies de langueur sont marquées par un affaiblissement continu de la ligne de vie qui devient à la fin tellement mince qu’on peut à peine la suivre.
Les paralysies sont en général indiquées par des îles.
DU MOI
Le pouce indique l’homme lui-même et sa triple division : Tête ou phalange supérieure; Poitrine ou phalange médiane et Ventre ou Éminence Thénar (l’éminence charnue dans laquelle le pouce prend naissance).
Le caractère de l’individu se voit à la phalange supérieure. Un emporté a cette phalange presque carrée, un généreux a la phalange tournée en dehors.

La phalange supérieure du pouce très large et très grosse par rapport au reste du doigt indique un caractère épouvantable pouvant aller jusqu’à Y assassinat.
OF EVENTS
The line of Saturnian Fate indicates the exact period of past, present and future events.
Anything that will modify existence to some degree is indicated by a jump in the line, by a break, or by another line coming to cross it.
The direction of this jump, to the right or to the left, indicates whether the event affected the intellectual occupations or the position.
A straight Line of Fate without breaks means a life uniform from the point of view of events and ideas.
Here is how the ages are read (this is very important).
Follow along the accompanying line:
The Line of Fate is cut:
f 0 Right at the bottom by the line of Mercury or that of Apollo;
2° Higher up by the Line of the Head;
3° Higher up by the Line of the Heart.
These three points, especially the last two, are infallible landmarks.
The meeting of the line of the head and the line of fate is exactly 20 years.
The meeting of the line of the heart and the line of fate is exactly 40 years.
The meeting of the line of Mercury or of Apollo with the line of fate is 10 or 12 years.
By dividing these various lines at their midpoint, the intermediate ages are obtained:
30 years at the midpoint of the line of the heart and the line of the head (see the figure), and so on for the others.
These data are found in none of the "standard" books on the subject. I guarantee their truth in 90 cases out of 100.
One thus looks to see whether the line of fate is cut and crossed by another line at the level of any one of these points, and from that one deduces the age of an event. Let us thus suppose a hand having the following sign:
A little after the twentieth year (meeting of the Saturnian and the line of the head); the Saturnian makes a jump to the right.
You say:
At 20 years you changed your occupations and had the idea of throwing yourself into a more intellectual life.
But look at the figure. A line crosses the Saturnian a little after twenty years and heads straight toward Apollo.
You say:
At 20 years you suddenly decided (the line that cuts the fate line indicates an action of the will) to occupy yourself with art. Hence a change in all your occupations.
This example, developed by practice, ends up explaining everything.

OF LUCK
Luck is indicated by the number of lines that double the Saturnian.
Thus, here is a hand that has luck from 20 to 30 years, loses it from 30 to 40, and regains it at 40; but from the point of view of material position.
Very great luck is indicated by a line doubling the Saturnian along almost its entire length.
OF PHYSICAL LIFE AND OF ILLNESSES
Illnesses are seen in the line of life. I cannot absolutely guarantee predictions of death at such and such an age based on the considerations of this line.

Thus I have examined in the amphitheaters of the hospitals about 200 hands almost immediately after death, and I have observed the truth of the predictions in only about 60 0/0 of cases.
It is therefore necessary to corroborate the teachings of the line of life with those of the line of fate, and especially by the examination of both hands.
The ages are thus indicated on this line (the key to this division will be found in Desbarolles's treatise).
A serious illness from which one recovers is marked by an interruption of the line of life, an interruption followed by the resumption of the line.
The danger of apoplexy is indicated by the sudden stopping of the line without resumption.

Illnesses of languor are marked by a continuous weakening of the line of life, which becomes in the end so thin that one can scarcely follow it.
Paralyses are generally indicated by islands.
OF THE SELF
The thumb indicates man himself and his threefold division: Head or upper phalanx; Chest or middle phalanx, and Belly or Thenar Eminence (the fleshy eminence in which the thumb takes root).
The character of the individual is seen in the upper phalanx. A hot-tempered person has this phalanx almost square, a generous person has the phalanx turned outward.

The upper phalanx of the thumb, very wide and very thick in proportion to the rest of the finger, indicates a dreadful character that can go as far as murder.
