1spiritist communications entitled les Dualités de l'espace , recently published through the efforts of Eugène Nus. If, then, we wish to represent the place occupied by our three principles, we shall place the 1 principle, the body, in the Belly , the 4 principle, life, in the Chest and the 7 principle, the Spirit, above the head (see page 217). The following table sums up the constitution of the psychic body. Constitution of the psychic body (the Spirit). 5. — The lower part of the psychic body. — Element localized in the brain. — Seat of intellectuality. — Intermediary between the preceding world (astral) and this one (psychic). — Support for the higher principles. The human soul. — The matter of the psychic body. 5e principle : Manas. 6. — The mediating part. — Combination of the human soul with the 7e principle. — Partial influence of this 7e principle upon the 5e. — Element localized within a few superior nerve cells. — In germ only within present-day races. — Seat of inspiration, of conscious double sight (prophecy), and of morality. Angelic soul, or spiritual soul. — Life of the psychic body. 6e principle : — Buddhi. 7. — The animating part of the psychic body. — Spiritualization of the human faculties under the influence of the divine Word. — Element not localized within man. — Principle of Nirvana and of definitive immortality. The divine soul (the Spirit). — The soul of the psychic body. 7e principle : Atma. — 219 — SUMMARY OF THE SEVEN PRINCIPLES OF MAN (By Papus)

3This figure contains, with very few exceptions, all the splanchnic organs of the human body, grouped so as to give an idea of their function and of the relations of these functions to one another. Three concentric segments constitute the figure: outwardly, the nervous system — in the middle, the blood system; at the center, the lymphatic system and the organs of digestion; finally, below, the organs of excretion. One may note, in passing, the relations of this grouping with the germ layers of the embryo. 1° Central segment. At the center of the figure, the stomach and the small intestine present the point of origin for the entry of substance into the body. — The chyle vessels, ending in the thoracic duct, with the spleen as the center of condensation (Malfatti's hypothesis), and the veins ending in the portal vein, with the liver as the condensing center, represent the circulation of the renewal of the material elements of the organism. The chain of ganglia and plexuses of the lymphatic circulation, beginning at the level of the arterial capillaries and going on to reach the venous system near the heart, shows schematically the circulation of the lymph, a veritable drainage of the substance that has not found its use during the circulation of the blood. Finally, below, the large intestine shows the routes of excretion of unassimilated foods. 2° Median segment. In the middle we see the well-known diagram of the circulation of the blood. — On the left, the circulation of red blood, of blood charged with matter and with force, a circulation shown by a double line. — Having set out from the lung, the blood arrives — 222 —
