I lü U £ ^ £ U k j W U MJ UJ W u ^ ^ ^ I yj \jj uj uj Uj ui ui iu u) u>ui ua ui w u tû w jjf JJJ “ JjJ jjj ^ Üf Üf ! 1who seeks; it receives the divine influence and influences by 6a blessing all existences. The twenty-second path is called faithful Intelligence, because in it are deposited the spiritual virtues that increase in it until they go toward those who dwell beneath its shadow. The twenty-third path is called stable Intelligence. It is the cause of the consistency of all the numerations (Sephiroth). The twenty-fourth path is called imaginative Intelligence. It gives resemblance to all the resemblances of beings which, according to its aspects, are created to its convenience. The twenty-fifth path is called the Intelligence of Temptation or of trial, because it is the first temptation by which God tests the pious. The twenty-sixth path is called renewing Intelligence because it is by it that GOD (blessed be He) renews all that can be renewed in the creation of the world. The twenty-seventh path is called agitating Intelligence. It is indeed by it that is created the Spirit of every creature of the supreme Orb and the agitation, that is to say the movement to which they are subject. The twenty-eighth path is called natural Intelligence. It is by it that is completed and rendered perfect the nature of all that exists in the Orb of the Sun. The twenty-ninth path is called corporeal Intelligence. It forms every body that is embodied under all the orbs and its increase. The thirtieth path is called collective Intelligence because it is from it that the Astrologers draw, by the judgment of the stars and celestial signs, their speculations and the refinements of their science according to the movements of the stars. The thirty-first path is called perpetual Intelligence. Why? Because it regulates the movement of the Sun and the Moon according to their constitution and makes them both gravitate in their respective orb. The thirty-second path is called adjuvant Intelligence because it directs all the operations of the seven planets and their divisions and concurs in them. Here is the practical use of these 32 paths. The Kabbalists, when they wish to question God by some path of natural things, proceed thus: First, in an earlier preparation, they consult the 32
2places of the chapter of Genesis, that is to say the paths of created things, and exercise upon them their study*. Then by means of certain prayers drawn from the name ELOIM (D>nbfy they pray to God to grant them abundantly the light necessary to the path sought and persuade themselves, through suitable ceremonies, that they are adepts of the Light of Wisdom, so much so that they hold themselves, by their unshakable faith and their ardent charity, in the heart of the world in order to question it. That the prayer may thenceforth have greater power, they make use of the name of 42 letters1 2 3 and by it think they will obtain what they ask.
