These three men occupied themselves only with establishing and cultivating the portion of earth that had fallen to them, in order to provide for their needs and those of their family present and to come. They remained, in consequence, a fairly long space of time without meditating upon the spiritual instructions Noah had given them; they did not apply themselves to making the division of the interval of the hours, of the days, of the weeks, of the months, of the years. In fine, all their divine worship was bounded to knowing that there existed an almighty being above every created thing, whom they called abavin 8, which means, in the Noachite tongue, doubly strong spirit, by which the Creator has operated every thing; this is what we call philosophically the divine action of the Creator. This word, though Noachite or Chinese, is the same as that which the Jews formerly uttered, and which they knew very perfectly to have issued from their tongue. The Hebrews also knew this word formerly, and know it still today, because there has always been someone among them who has possessed a part of the knowledge of this first tongue.
