1justice of the Eternal for the prevarication of the first minor committed at the centre of the temporal universe, so the inhabitants of the divine world pay tribute to the justice of the Creator for the expiation of the crime of the first spirits. I shall tell thee the pure truth touching the different tributes which these two classes of spiritual beings pay and shall pay to the Creator until the end of times. What will surprise thee much more is that all the spirits which the Creator has emanated into the divine immensity since that prevarication are subject to the same tribute. To convince thyself of it, observe the emancipation of the minor into this low world: assuredly, when he descends into it, he is neither defiled nor impure; but he is no sooner clothed with a body of matter than he becomes subject to the law of time. There is doubtless a great difference in the subjection wherein the minor finds himself and that wherein the inhabitants of the divine immensity find themselves; and the minor is in a privation and a suffering far more considerable, because thou art not ignorant that the prevarication of the first man is infinitely stronger than that of the demons. And so the minors are bounded to time, and the divine spirits are so only to the temporal; man traverses the different immensities only in thought, but the spirits can traverse really and in nature the infinite extent of the divine immensity. Nevertheless, despite this difference of subjection wherein these two classes of spirits find themselves, the word of man gives him the superiority over all the inhabitants of the divine world; it is stronger and more powerful than theirs, and the extent it can have surpasses even that which the divine spirits traverse.
2Such, Israel, is the present state of the divine spirits and that of the minors; and this state of subjection whereto the divine spirits and the minors are reduced is nothing in comparison with the horrible privation to which the perverse spirits are condemned. The Creator has so greatly made force of law against them that they are infinitely more tormented and more molested than all the other spirits. Their torment is to be subjected to operate evil, and to be condemned by decree of the Eternal to live for a temporal eternity in their iniquities without being able to change their evil actions, contrary to the divine action. This is what the Creator wished to give to be understood when he pronounced by his deputies that the prevaricators would be punished by their own crimes. The minor, on the contrary, though in subjection, has nevertheless the entire liberty of operating good or evil, and of changing evil into good. This is why there is no comparison to be made of his privation with that which the perverse spirits suffer, who have no other power than that of operating evil.""
3After Moses had given the people the great instructions you have just seen, he returned upon the mountain of Sinai, whence he brought back the second tables of the law. He received also upon that mountain the order of the Creator for the construction of a tabernacle wherein these new tables should be disposed; and, when he had executed with the help of Bezaleel all that the Creator had prescribed him upon this subject, he addressed the people again, and gave them in these terms instructions upon the form and the proportions of the tabernacle:
