Voilà, Israël, comment la puissance quinaire des démons a pris naissance ; tel est le nombre qui les distinguera de tous les êtres spirituels pour l'éternité dans leurs actions et leurs opérations spirituelles temporelles matérielles ; et tel est le nombre par lequel l'être mineur, ainsi que tout être spirituel, apprend à connaître la prévarication des esprits pervers.
2Je t'instruirai maintenant, Israël, de l'utilité de l'immensité surcéleste. Le Créateur l’a établie telle qu'elle est pour fixer l’ordre et les lois cérémoniales que les esprits émancipés ont à opérer dans toute l'étendue des trois mondes temporels, en correspondance avec les esprits émanés dans l'immensité divine. Le premier cercle, qui est l'angle saillant du triangle supérieur, marque le chef supérieur surcéleste et l'immensité des esprits supérieurs dénaires. Il ne faut point entendre que les esprits qui habitent dans ce cercle soient les mêmes, ni aucun de ceux qui ont été émanés dans la première place, immédiatement auprès de la Divinité. Non, Israël, les esprits dénaires divins ne sont jamais sortis de la place qu'ils occupent dans l'immensité divine: tout le changement qui leur est arrivé par la prévarication des esprits pervers et par celle du premier mineur, selon que je l'ai déjà dit, est d’avoir été assujettis au temporel, quoiqu'ils ne soient point sujets au temps.
3Le Créateur n'a donc émancipé dans le cercle dénaire de cet espace surcéleste que des esprits majeurs qu'il a revêtus d'une puissance dénaire, par laquelle leurs actions et leurs opérations sont distinctes de celles des trois autres classes d'esprits de cette immensité surcéleste. Le second cercle, qui est à droite, marque l'immensité des esprits majeurs septénaires qui, par leurs actions et leurs opérations, sont au-dessous des esprits dénaires. Le troisième cercle, à gauche, marque l'immensité des esprits inférieurs ; par leurs actions et leurs opérations, ils sont au-dessous des esprits dénaires et septénaires ; et c’est pour cette raison qu'ils sont appelés inférieurs. Le cercle qui est à l'angle saillant du triangle inférieur du surcéleste, en ligne directe du cercle dénaire, marque l'immensité des mineurs spirituels divins. Leurs actions et leurs opérations sont supérieures à celles de tous les esprits du surcéleste, par l'entremise duquel s'opère l'union entre l'homme et Dieu, et qui est assujetti à l'un et à l’autre. L'ordre et l'arrangement spirituels divins qui règnent dans l'immensité divine, sont les mêmes que ceux qui règnent dans l’immensité surcéleste. 1to the movements of such a pride and such an ambition. Flee above all whosoever would persuade thee to appropriate to thyself the different divine acts by the power of the quinary number. Shouldst thou ever succumb to such a seduction, thy divine spiritual action, innate in thee, would become wholly material; thy minor being would become an intellect of the demon, and all thy powers would be annihilated, to leave thee the enjoyment only of the quinary power of the perverse spirits. Such, Israel, is how the quinary power of the demons took birth; such is the number that shall distinguish them from all spiritual beings for eternity in their spiritual temporal material actions and operations; and such is the number by which the minor being, as well as every spiritual being, learns to know the prevarication of the perverse spirits.
2I shall now instruct thee, Israel, in the utility of the supercelestial immensity. The Creator has established it such as it is to fix the order and the ceremonial laws which the emancipated spirits have to operate throughout the whole extent of the three temporal worlds, in correspondence with the spirits emanated in the divine immensity. The first circle, which is the salient angle of the upper triangle, marks the superior supercelestial chief and the immensity of the superior denary spirits. It must not be understood that the spirits who inhabit this circle are the same, nor any of those who were emanated in the first place, immediately beside the Divinity. No, Israel, the divine denary spirits have never gone out from the place they occupy in the divine immensity: all the change that has befallen them by the prevarication of the perverse spirits and by that of the first minor, according as I have already said, is to have been subjected to the temporal, although they are not subject to time.
3The Creator has therefore emancipated into the denary circle of that supercelestial space only major spirits whom he has clothed with a denary power, by which their actions and their operations are distinct from those of the three other classes of spirits of that supercelestial immensity. The second circle, which is on the right, marks the immensity of the septenary major spirits who, by their actions and their operations, are beneath the denary spirits. The third circle, on the left, marks the immensity of the inferior spirits; by their actions and their operations, they are beneath the denary and septenary spirits; and it is for this reason that they are called inferior. The circle that is at the salient angle of the lower triangle of the supercelestial, in direct line from the denary circle, marks the immensity of the divine spiritual minors. Their actions and their operations are superior to those of all the spirits of the supercelestial, by whose mediation is operated the union between man and God, and which is subjected to the one and to the other. The divine spiritual order and arrangement that reign in the divine immensity are the same as those that reign in the supercelestial immensity. It is by this similitude that thou must judge that this supercelestial immensity has been emancipated and founded in force and power by the Creator and not by the pure will of the spirits. What may convince thee of it is that this same arrangement is found repeated, in the celestial, by the circles of Saturn, of the Sun, of Mercury and of Mars, by which circles the
