1that thou wert confounded in the extent of the demoniac circle with the prince of the demons and his adherents. Thou didst not exist by thy own will. Thou hadst not in thee a particular life and action. Thou couldst not be conducted by the divine laws, since it was for having abjured them that thou hadst been cast down into the abysses of Egypt. Neither didst thou conduct thyself by the pure and simple laws of the brute, since, during that time, the brute beasts lived and acted with an entire liberty and with the whole extent of the faculties of their instinct; they cannot and shall never be able to depart from those immutable natural laws that conduct them. Thou wert therefore then beneath the brute itself, and yet thou hadst laws. But those that directed thee were laws wholly material and entirely demoniac. They were directly opposed to the divine spiritual laws of the minor being. They were even opposed to the natural and human laws. They were laws of privation and altogether pernicious to those who embrace them. Thou canst judge thyself of the danger of these laws of abomination by all that the Creator has operated against them, against their chiefs and against their adherents. I should cite nothing in this regard that thou hast not seen with thine own eyes; but learn from me that the princes of the demons, although they are chiefs of their own laws of abominable convention, are nevertheless themselves subjected to the immutable law of the Creator, according to which all is emanated from him.
2withdraw themselves from the eternal law of their emanation, than they can avoid the justice essentially inherent in that same law. It is this divine justice to which thou wert exposed during the servitude in Egypt; but the mercy of the Creator has restored thee to thy first principle, to thy first degree of glory, and gives thee back that sublime divine law which thou hadst rejected and which had been withdrawn from thee. Thou hast seen all I have done to obtain from the Creator that he should re-establish thee in thy rights. Thou knowest, Israel, that I am deputed of the Eternal for the manifestation of his glory and of his justice. Thou canst therefore consider me as the type of the will of the Creator. In setting with me upon the mountain Joshua, who is to succeed me according to the order he has received of it from the Eternal, I have figured to thee the type of the major divine spirit, to make thee comprehend that every minor being shall thus be conducted before the Creator by his particular spirit. In bringing him back with me, I figured further the major spirit which the Creator detaches from his divine spiritual circle to be the guide, the support, the conductor, the counsel and the companion of the minor who emanates and descends from the immensity to be incorporated into the circle of elementary matter; and Joshua, in descending with me from that mountain, made perfectly the type of the spiritual minor whom the Eternal emancipates from his immensity to go and operate according to his free will in the terrestrial circle.
3But what the divine mercy has done most striking in thy favour is to have sent thee by me the two tables of the law which I brought down from the spiritual mountain. These tables, whereon the law was written, were the figure of the body of man, wherein are imprinted the characters of the law of the Creator. The spirit of the Eternal had himself engraved the characters of that law upon the tables I brought down; likewise, the spiritual minor traces upon the heart of his corporeal form the characters of the powerful law he has received from the Creator from his divine emanation. Nevertheless, despite all the advantage thou shouldst have drawn from the laws imprinted upon those sacred tables, thy prevarication has forced me to break them in thy presence, and there remain no more vestiges of them before thee than there shall remain of the universal creation when it shall be reintegrated into its principle of emanation.
