1La seconde vertu s'est manifestée par toutes les opérations que j'ai faites avec les quatre sages d'Ismaël et les trois mages d'Égypte. Les quatre sages ont combattu ma puissance; ils ont fait les mêmes choses que moi dans mes quatre premières opérations et je n'ai pu connaître l'esprit qui les faisait opérer qu'après que j'ai eu satisfait à la volonté du Créateur; ce qui te prouve qu'il est impossible à l’homme de pénétrer par lui-même dans les différentes actions de la Divinité. Le changement hideux qui s'est opéré sur la forme corporelle du premier mage de Pharaon fait allusion au changement de puissance spirituelle que les mineurs éprouveront dans les trois cercles sensible, visuel et rationnel, où ils seront obligés d'agir pendant un temps, deux temps et la moitié d'un temps. Le premier temps est, au sensible, le plus près de la matière terrestre; le second temps est, au visuel, le plus près de la matière raréfiée, et la moitié du temps est le rationnel qui est le plus près du surcéleste. Voilà certainement ce que t’enseigne l'exemple opéré sur le premier mage.
2La première division Israélite qui a passé la mer Rouge représente la sortie des hommes des trois parties de la terre, lorsque le Créateur les délivrera des ténèbres qu'ils habitent, ce qui s’opérera par la voie du Messias. Les trois différentes classes des personnes qui composaient cette première division signifiaient les trois angles de la terre: les vieillards, l'angle d'ouest; les femmes, l'angle du midi et les enfants langle du nord, ce qui te représente encore la vraie forme de la terre ainsi qu’Adam l'avait représentée au commencement par la division qu'il en avait faite en plaçant Caïn à l'angle du midi, Seth, qui est le plus jeune de sa postérité à l'angle du nord, et en restant lui-même à l'angle d'ouest à la place d'Abel. Les restes des Israélites, qui étaient destinés à la guerre et marchaient à la suite de la première division, également éclairés par la lumière de la colonne, laquelle disparut d'abord que toute l’armée d'Israël fut passée, figurent par leur élection celle que le Créateur a faite d'un nombre d'esprits majeurs pour être les guides et les défenseurs pendant que tu feras la guerre spirituelle contre les ennemis, et ces élus ne sont autre chose que l'ombre et les instruments des esprits majeurs que le Créateur a joints à Israël. Observe avec soin l'élection que le Créateur a faite chez toi, et suis-en avec précision toutes les circonstances si tu veux être justifié devant lui.
3divines que j'ai faites aux quatre parties de cette terre, pour diviser entièrement son être de vie, selon l’ordre que j'en avais reçu, et pour qu'elle reste éternellement en opération de contraction contre les lois ordinaires données au corps général terrestre. C'est par le moyen de cette action contraire à la vraie nature que cette terre n'aura plus qu'une végétation impure et à peine capable de nourrir les animaux les plus affreux dont elle va devenir le repaire. Cette punition s'est faite en ta présence, pour t'apprendre que c'est pour la troisième fois que l'Égypte fut criminelle devant le Créateur, par les abominations que les hommes ont commises dans son sein et qui ont attiré sur elle et sur ses habitants tous les fléaux de la justice divine. Le dernier fléau survenu devant toi à l’armée d'Égypte avait été prédit par l'emprunt que tu avais fait aux Égyptiens de leurs ustensiles d’or et d'argent, pour les empêcher par là de pouvoir opérer aucun culte à leur fausse divinité. Ces peuples pervers ne comprirent pas dans ce moment le type de cet emprunt. Au contraire, ils se croyaient flattés que leurs ustensiles pussent servir au culte du Dieu d'Israël. Mais c'était la justice divine elle-même qui les dépouillait de tous ces biens temporels dont ils ne devaient plus faire aucun usage puisqu'ils allaient être entièrement dispersés parmi les nations et honteusement détruits par le décret de l'Éternel. Oui, Israël, je te dis qu’en divisant ainsi l'être de vie de cette terre criminelle, je l'ai fait tomber entièrement sous la puissance des démons, et qu'elle ne contient plus en elle-même qu'une multitude d'intellects démoniaques.

1The second virtue was manifested by all the operations I made with the four sages of Ishmael and the three magi of Egypt. The four sages combated my power; they did the same things as I in my four first operations, and I could not know the spirit that made them operate until I had satisfied the will of the Creator; which proves to thee that it is impossible for man to penetrate by himself into the different actions of the Divinity. The hideous change that was operated upon the corporeal form of the first magus of Pharaoh alludes to the change of spiritual power which the minors shall undergo in the three circles, sensible, visual and rational, where they shall be obliged to act during a time, two times and the half of a time. The first time is, in the sensible, the nearest to terrestrial matter; the second time is, in the visual, the nearest to rarefied matter; and the half of the time is the rational, which is the nearest to the supercelestial. Such certainly is what the example operated upon the first magus teaches thee.
2The first Israelite division that passed the Red Sea represents the going forth of the men of the three parts of the earth, when the Creator shall deliver them from the darkness they inhabit, which shall be operated by way of the Messiah. The three different classes of persons who composed this first division signified the three angles of the earth: the old men, the angle of the west; the women, the angle of the south; and the children, the angle of the north — which represents to thee further the true form of the earth, even as Adam had represented it in the beginning by the division he had made of it, placing Cain at the angle of the south, Seth, who is the youngest of his posterity, at the angle of the north, and himself remaining at the angle of the west in the place of Abel. The remainder of the Israelites, who were destined for war and marched behind the first division, likewise lit by the light of the column, which disappeared as soon as all the army of Israel had passed, figure by their election that which the Creator has made of a number of major spirits to be the guides and the defenders while thou shalt make the spiritual war against the enemies; and these elect are nothing else than the shadow and the instruments of the major spirits whom the Creator has joined to Israel. Observe with care the election which the Creator has made among thee, and follow with precision all its circumstances if thou wouldst be justified before him.
3divine which I made to the four parts of this earth, to divide entirely its being of life, according to the order I had received of it, and so that it should remain eternally in operation of contraction against the ordinary laws given to the general terrestrial body. It is by means of this action contrary to true nature that this earth shall have no more than an impure vegetation, scarcely capable of nourishing the most frightful animals whose lair it is about to become. This punishment was made in thy presence, to teach thee that it is for the third time that Egypt was criminal before the Creator, by the abominations which men committed in her bosom and which have drawn upon her and upon her inhabitants all the scourges of the divine justice. The last scourge that came before thee upon the army of Egypt had been predicted by the borrowing thou hadst made from the Egyptians of their utensils of gold and of silver, to prevent them thereby from being able to operate any worship to their false divinity. These perverse peoples did not comprehend in that moment the type of this borrowing. On the contrary, they believed themselves flattered that their utensils might serve the worship of the God of Israel. But it was the divine justice itself that stripped them of all these temporal goods whereof they were to make no further use, since they were about to be entirely dispersed among the nations and shamefully destroyed by the decree of the Eternal. Yes, Israel, I tell thee that in thus dividing the being of life of this criminal earth, I have made it fall entirely under the power of the demons, and that it contains in itself no more than a multitude of demoniac intellects.
