Ceux qui me rencontreront me tueront.»

1The unhappy Boaz, seeing himself reduced to a general enmity of all the first posterity of Cain, was forced to withdraw from that troop of persons possessed of demoniac intellect, and went to take his retreat in the desert of Jeraniaz, which means: hearken to the Creator. It is in this place that Boaz ended his days in contrition and in penitence. Such is how Cain was the true type of prophecy, when he said, after the crime he committed upon his brother Abel: "Those who meet me, Lord, will kill me." Was he not met by his son in a thicket? Was he not effectively killed by a man, as he had said? What truly forms the type of prophecy is that the meeting of two persons, Cain and Boaz, was not premeditated, and that both found themselves, without knowing one another, in the place where Cain received the blow of death.
2I wish to have you remark how ridiculous and absurd is the observation which the men of the age have made upon this parricide of Cain by his son Boaz. This type, unknown to the greater part of the men of today, has made them believe and even assert that Adam is not the first man, since, they say, when Cain had killed his brother Abel, he said to the Creator: "Lord! what shall become of me? Those who meet me will kill me." If these men had been instructed in the type made by those words addressed to the Creator, they would have seen clearly that it was that of the prophets, even as we have seen it truly effected among the men of the earth and upon Cain himself. But, you will say to me, how could the Creator afterwards send prophets among men to contain them in their actions within the laws he had given them, since you say that the Creator takes no part in the second causes that are operated among men? I shall answer that the Creator cannot be ignorant of the demoniac thinking being which continually operates seducing and pernicious deeds for the spiritual minor, as had already happened in the seduction of Adam and of his posterity. The Creator, in consequence, judged it necessary for the advantage of man to elect spiritually certain minor beings, and to endow them with the prophetic spirit, not only to contain man within the laws, precepts and commandments he had given them, but further for the greater molestation of the malign spirits and for the manifestation of the greater divine glory. The thought of the spiritual being, good or evil, as the action good or evil, before the Creator: such is how the Eternal takes knowledge of the second causes.
3being the last son of the direct posterity of Cain and completing by his rank the denary number, it is not doubtful that he was endowed with some divine spiritual gifts, to be a real figure and example of the great mercy which the Creator grants in whatsoever circumstances, for the advantage of the minor spiritual being and of the perverse major, when the spirits appeal to him sincerely. You must comprehend it very clearly by the grace which the Creator granted to Boaz, who was doubly criminal: first, for having assisted at the worship of the demons in preference to that of the Creator, having had a perfect knowledge of the one and of the other, and for having let himself be drawn away by the example and the false habit contracted among the posterity of Cain; whether through fear of the temporal pains which that posterity would make him suffer, or for his own personal satisfaction. Secondly, Boaz was criminal for having put to death his father Cain, and for having thereby contravened the prohibitions the Creator had made in advance to the posterity of Cain, after the crime committed upon the person of Abel. It is not that the Creator had for that reason forestalled the future conduct of the second causes which should operate among that posterity (you know what I have said to you upon this subject); but it was to make the princes of the demons feel, by this prohibition, that he knew the conduct of them all, and that he wished to forewarn men of the abominations which the latter might operate against them, as they had already operated for the fall of Adam and for that of his first posterity. Have not men themselves always judged the future conduct
