One moment.

1Five years after, the bond he saw between these two children made him believe that the time had come when all his pains were about to end. He blinded himself anew and conceived with Houva or Eve a third posterity, which was female and whom he named Aba 1, which means: child of matter, or child of divine privation. Adam thereafter remained the space of six years without producing posterity, because during that interval, and beginning from the birth of his third child, he fell into a considerable dejection. So strong a disgust with his own being seized him that he knew not what to do. He fell into an entire inaction, whether for the divine spiritual or for the demoniac spiritual, being no longer sensible to any impression good or evil. What rendered him such was the strong knowledge he had of all his past crimes towards the Creator. The good spirit procured him this knowledge, and made him clearly understand that the earth he had cultivated until then, against the orders of the Creator, would produce him nothing but sorrow and bitterness, and would be the poison of discord for all his posterity.
2Such is the essence of the threats the Creator made to Adam in driving him from the Terrestrial Paradise, according as the Scripture relates it: "Go, cultivate the earth; it shall produce thee nothing but brambles." I shall ask whether there are brambles sharper than those a criminal posterity can bear into the heart of a good father. Such were the evils the Creator had announced to the first man that the work of his operation of terrestrial matter would produce for him; but it was in this annihilation that the Creator purposed to pardon all the weaknesses of the first man, disposing him and his companion to co-operate in a conception pure and simple, without participation of any excess of the senses of their material form. Thus Adam did not bound his posterity to the three children of whom I have just spoken; he had four children more, two male and two female, and it is the first son of these four who was to operate the reconciliation of his father. Adam therefore formed with his companion an operation agreeable to the Creator, and Eve conceived the seminal which Adam had shed within her entrails and which she happily preserved until its entire maturity. It was not surprising that Eve should take a wholly particular care of this new fruit, since she felt a root of salvation coming to birth within herself. Let us here follow the posterity of Adam.
3Adam and Eve took a particular care of this fourth child. They never lost him from sight, although they did not yet perfectly know all the fruit they were both to draw from him thereafter. They could not weary of admiring his conduct, whether towards his two sisters and his brother Cain, or towards his father and mother. He sought to gain their friendship from the tenderest age, being then but three years old, and he went on always increasing in goodness and in wisdom, in virtue and in good example, all the time he remained among men as man-God just upon the earth. This blessed child strove ceaselessly to address to the Creator spiritual acts of worship which astonished all his family. All his operations tended only to calm the justice of God towards his first minor creature and towards his posterity, knowing by his operations how strongly that posterity was to be struck by the divine justice. In fine, Abel behaved as Adam ought to have done in his first state of glory towards the Eternal: the worship which Abel rendered to the Creator was the real type of what the Creator should have expected of his first minor.
