1By all that has been said, we ought no longer to doubt the considerable changes of the laws of operation supervening through the prevarication of the first man, whether upon the general and particular body, or upon the minors, and in the operations which those same minors have to perform today, and which are wholly opposed to those for which they had been emanated. We have seen moreover a glimmer of that famous ternary number of creation of every form whatsoever, by the conjunction of the intention, the will and the speech which brings forth the divine action, which is certainly Word. Indeed, what would intention serve without will, will without speech, and speech without effect or action? Intention, will and speech were needed to operate each of the three parts of the creation, but it is the speech that determined the action of the divine intention and will. It is by this determination that the Word took place: it is therefore certainly in the Word of the Creator that the ternary number of general universal and particular creation exists, and nowhere else; for the intention, the will and the speech produce a spiritual effect, or an action, which shows that the Word of creation did not produce itself, since it is emanated from the intention, the will and the speech of the Creator.
2It is also by this Word and its emanation that we recognise with certainty that the first ternary number of any creation is coeternal in God, according to what follows: the intention 1, the will 2 and the speech 3, whence proceeds the action or the Word. Add them: in these three numbers you will find 6, as follows: 1 and 2 make 3, 3 and 3 make 6. This is what completes the six thoughts of general and particular creation of the Eternal. This number is certainly within the universal, general and particular creation. It is by all that I have just said to you that you ought to conceive whence has proceeded every created being, as much spiritual as material, and likewise the great power the first man once had, and that which his posterity may still have today. This power, however, is a very little thing if man makes not his reconciliation with the Creator. I dare even say that it is nothing without that, and that then the brute has more virtue in its passive instinct alone than the spiritual minor has when he has degenerated and annihilates himself in divine spiritual inaction to the point of becoming the tomb of death. I mean, by the expression tomb of death which I here employ, that the unhappy minors who are not reconciled will become the prey of the perverse spirits, who, by the conjunction they will make with them, will cause them to remain in their reprobation for an infinite time.
3Such will be the lot of the minors who shall not have followed the justice of the Creator. See how far we must keep upon our guard, and strive to imitate Adam who, after having confessed his crime with sincerity and with the bitterest repentance, obtained from the Creator his reconciliation and was restored in part to his first virtues and powers over the three kinds of temporal creation, on condition however that his intention and his will should in future be conformable to the laws of reconciliation. Reflect upon this reconciliation, and you will there see always the ternary number, namely: Adam, Christ and the Creator. You will see there that this triple divine essence very clearly forms the three principles of all creation, as follows: the intention of the Father 1, the will of Christ 2, and the speech of the spiritual minor which proceeds from the intention and the will of the two first 3. I place the minor among the number of the three first divine essences because he is himself the product of the intention of the Father, of the will of the regenerating Son and of the action of the divine Spirit; which I shall explain more clearly when I speak of the quadruple divine essence, of which I do not intend to leave you ignorant, although I have not yet made mention of it.
