1It is in joining these three last things — the intention, the will and the speech — to the three that precede them, that I shall make conceivable the three principal Words of Creation of which the Eternal made use to create all things. The intention joins itself to the creation of the universe, which is figured by an immense circle, within which the general and the particular are put into action and into movement. The will joins itself to the creation of the general, or of the earth, which is figured by a triangle, even as the figure the Creator had conceived of it in his thinking imagination was to be represented. The speech rejoins the particular emanation of the spiritual minors, dwelling in the particular terrestrial corporeal form, a form similar to that of the earth, and which was equally produced conformably to the image of the divine thought. It is by this and by what shall follow that we learn to conceive the Word of Creation that was in Adam's power. If the Creator had had no intention, he would have had no will, he would have had no words of action. Now, since the minor spiritual being is but the fruit of the operation of these three divine principles, it was needful that the first man should bear the marks of his origin, and that he should consequently have these three principles innate in him, when the Eternal detached him from his divine immensity to be man-God upon the earth.
2We have seen previously that God could not be the author of evil; thus Adam was emanated in good and in justice. Adam had then in him a powerful Word, since there was to be born of his speech of command, according to his good intention and his good divine spiritual will, glorious impassive forms, similar to that which appeared in the imagination of the Creator. These glorious forms could not be of the nature of the forms of terrestrial matter, which were destined, according to the will of the Creator, only to serve as prison to the prevaricating spirits. And so the form in which Adam was placed was purely spiritual and glorious, that he might have dominion over the whole creation, and exercise freely upon it the power and the command that had been given him by the Creator over all beings.
3This glorious form is nothing else than a form of apparent figure which the spirit conceives and brings forth according to its need and according to the orders it receives from the Creator. This form is as promptly reintegrated as it is brought forth by the spirit. We name it impassive because it is subject to no elementary influence whatsoever, save to the pure and simple influence. It is susceptible of no nourishment, save of that which its spirit procures for it. No particle of the central fire acts upon it. In fine, this glorious form would have been perpetuated by Adam by the reproduction of his spiritual posterity, yet without any principle of material operation, according as the advent and the resurrection of Christ, and the descent of the divine spirit into the Temple of Solomon, have shown us in nature.
