14 RAMAKRISHNA (Read at session No. 270, of 15 February, of Papus Centre No. 5) I dedicate this work to my Initiator, desiring that the breeze of love of the divine Master may help him guide all the boats of his disciples to the waters of the ocean of Divine Love.
2By Amapadaka, S. I. The Lipikas or Lords of Karma had seen that a new manifestation of God on Earth was necessary, and that the Ego which in different epochs had taken the bodies of Rama, Krishna, Buddha, Christ and Chaitanya was ready to sacrifice itself once more for the benefit of Humanity; again it desired to save her from her miseries; it desired to let fall a beneficent dew of divine Love upon the withered heart of men, to decipher for them the enigma of the Universe and to infuse into them the devotional spirit.
3They found that in Bengal there was a picturesque village named Kamarpukur, whose conical dwellings were surrounded by palm trees, ponds and rice fields, in which there lived a holy and kindly woman named Chandramani, who was the only one in a condition to shelter in her bosom the Divine Ego.

8At others, as Nityakali, or permanent Deity, distinct from her works.
9At others, as Samasamkali, or sombre Deity, who presides over death.
10At others, as Rakshyakali, or Mother of dark blue colour, pleasing to the eyes of the devotees, who blesses and protects her children.
11And he adopted the name of Ramakrishna, which was a fusion of Rama and of Krishna.
12Of Rama, “the inspired one of peace”, he who gave to man the torch, sacred symbol of the divine Spirit, and to woman the cup, symbol of Life and of Love, and who, inspired and guided by Deva Nahusha, the Divine Intelligence, was the bearer of its rays: he who ins-
