2Thus, for example, by means of the electric scalpel or the thermocautery the destruction of healthy or pathological tissues is obtained; as also, by means of solar rays concentrated on a determinate part of the body through a lens, the irradiation of humid heat (steam baths) or dry (radiators of various natures) can likewise produce beneficent or harmful effects on determinate beings in determinate conditions of ambience, of season, biological, etc.
3As regards psychological effects, everyone knows the stimulating effects on the psyche of an agreeable temperature in the spring season, and the depressing ones in the hot days of summer, etc.

5— The minimum degree of temperature compatible with life is also quite variable according to living beings.
6While plants and poikilothermic animals die when the temperature reaches such an extreme as to freeze the water that serves as the base of protoplasmic life, for other organisms, on the contrary, temperatures below 0º are not at all mortal; so Raoul Pictet has demonstrated, who observed the return to life of fishes frozen at -15º (minus 15°), if the rise of temperature was effected with great care.
7With a temperature of -20º (minus 20º), however, death was infallibly produced.
8Frogs can bear temperatures of -28º, centipedes of -50°, and bacteria, finally, can survive after having undergone a temperature of -100º.
9As far as man is concerned, we have already said that he lives better at low than at high temperatures.
10In effect, the human beings who live in polar temperatures of -50º manifest no symptomatology that could be the expression of a physiological disturbance — provided they can protect the body with adequate clothing to prevent the elimination of the internal heat, and feed themselves with adequate foods that compensate the greater elimination of corporeal heat.

12They are: old age — in which, through the weakening of all the organic functions, the mechanism of self-regulation of the internal temperature also weakens; infancy, in which that mechanism is weak through the slight organic resistance of the body in formation; and physical and physiological misery, fatigue, alcoholism, etc., which have their influence by diminishing more or less considerably the physiological resistance and, consequently, the mechanism of self-regulation of temperature.
13It must further be borne in mind that the hygrometric state of the air, the humidity of the soil and the winds favour the action of cold, while dry air and the absence of winds permit low temperatures to be better borne.
14Leaving aside the diseases called rheumatic, of which we have already spoken, and in which cold exerts its importance as a contributory cause — every chilling of the body is likewise a contributory factor in the aetiology of many diseases; for, as the body's temperature diminishes, its defensive powers diminish too, and especially the phagocytic activity of the leucocytes, so that infectious diseases, through the predominance of bacterial activity, can manifest themselves better.
15Thus pneumonia, influenza, chronic bronchitis, chronic enteritis — due to the state of auto-intoxication of the organism — establish themselves more easily, or grow acute, if one passes rapidly from hot to cold ambiences.

The verdict, balanced: despite the Strict Observance's decadence, the Profession "made it possible to diffuse a parcel of the Master's doctrine" — the chronology's justification of Willermoz, delivered only after his critics have had their full say.
The twelve houses: the course pivots from signs to houses — Julevno's meanings with Jehel's additions printed inline: the 2nd house extended to education, the 8th to "occult inheritance… contact with the true occult traditions", the 12th to "all the Occult Centres of Initiation". The Krishnamurti question, addressed by name: does Mitra Deva's "Instructor of the World" clash with the title "already borne by the Beloved Krishnamurti"? The reply — "The sacred admits no polemic" — declines the fight while the whole article answers it doctrinally: hierarchies of Lord, Amsa, Instructor, disciple. The run's only direct engagement with the Order of the Star controversy.
The sixteen-Krishna scheme: Mitra Deva first of NINE Great Masters before the sixteenth Krishnavatara "12,000 years from then" — the Mandala's deep-time table printed with its Devi Bhagavata citation; a footnote corrects the circular's date and reports the Avatara "has at times come down from the Himalayas".
Jehel's synthesis joins the estates: Iodhevauhe and Adam-Eve beside Nara — "each human being is also the partial amsa of Nara" — and "Suddhas and Martinists, among others, raise their Mystic Song to the Unity of Life": the review's two doctrinal families formally married, signed 8 May 1945 — VE Day.
The burn-degree table with its survival arithmetic (half the body: death in 6-16 hours; an eighth: after 92) — period surgical pathology, and the serial's coda that heat "is neither beneficent nor maleficent": the energy-neutrality doctrine applied to trauma medicine.
Pictet's frozen fish revived from -15°, frogs at -28°, bacteria at -100° — the cold-tolerance ladder mirroring last month's heat ladder; the serial's symmetry across polarities is deliberate architecture.
"Like heat, cold is in itself indifferent" — the paired conclusion, with cryotherapy and thermocautery as the proof that the same energy heals or destroys by circumstance: the column's recurring monism of energy.
