2Influence of Temperature. By Pitágoras S∴I∴ Influences of heat (conclusion): Very variable, however, are the symptoms and the lesions of the tissues in cases where the action of heat works directly upon localised regions of the body.
3The surface of the body can be very profoundly altered by contact with solid, liquid or gaseous substances at great temperature (burns), or by the direct action of the solar rays or radiant heat. [Sic: the Spanish prints a1terada, with a numeral.]
4The effects of the action of these substances are diverse according to the degree of heat, the structure of the region of the body affected, the degree of density of the liquids, the time of action and individual resistance.
5Thus it is that these effects, according to their gravity and extension, are classified by general pathology into burns of the first, second, third and fourth degree.
6In burns of the first degree there is hyperaemia and tumefaction of the skin.
7In those of the 2nd degree there is hyperaemia and tumefaction with the formation of vesicles.
8In those of the 3rd degree there is destruction of tissue by coagulation of the protoplasmic colloid and the formation of an eschar.
9In those of the 4th degree there is carbonisation of the tissues.
10If burns of the 3rd and 4th degree — which are the gravest — exceed half the surface of the body, death supervenes inevitably between 6 and 16 hours.
11In the case where the lesions affect half the surface of the body, death supervenes between 20 and 36 hours; if they affect a quarter, between 40 and 45 hours; if 1/6, between 44 and 82 hours; and if 1/8, after 92 hours.
12Death is produced, according to some, by vasal paralysis; according to others, by the formation of thrombi and embolic occlusion of the vessels by them; or by profound modifications produced in the blood; or, finally, by the formation of toxic substances in the burnt parts, which would produce a shock called anaphylactic.
13In reality, death is not produced exclusively by one or another of these causes: it is the logical and fatal resultant of the concomitant action of them all.
14The anatomical lesions found in the tissues of those dead in consequence of extensive burns are: general hyperaemia of the internal organs, morphological modifications of the red globules and of the haemoglobin contained in them, increase of the red globules per cubic millimetre, thrombo-embolic clots, parenchymatous alterations of the internal organs in general and of the kidneys especially, and the falling away of the vasal endothelium.
15Heat is — like all the others existing in our universe — an energy in itself indifferent, and therefore its action upon living beings is neither "beneficent" nor "maleficent".
16These effects cannot, then, be attributed to the energy in itself, but to various causes that work together for their production, many of which exist in living beings.
17Moreover, the same destructive or harmful effects that are produced in certain cases are not so in others, although the modality of action be exactly the same; and, finally, while in some those effects may work beneficently, in others they may work in the opposite way.
18Not to extend ourselves too much, we shall say — as regards man alone — that a destruction of tissues by burning, a fact harmful in itself, can become · 18

The verdict, balanced: despite the Strict Observance's decadence, the Profession "made it possible to diffuse a parcel of the Master's doctrine" — the chronology's justification of Willermoz, delivered only after his critics have had their full say.

The Shamballa foundation myth in verse and prose: the Regal Chariot from Venus, the Lords of the Flame, Kriyashakti bodies immutable for millions of years — the H.A.B.M. page delivering the Theosophical cosmogony (Sanat Kumara's descent) in its own liturgical register.
The borrowed-body doctrine applied to named figures: Jesus "at present occupies the body of a great Master living in the Middle East"; Buddha's prior lives as Vyasa, Hermes, the first Zoroaster, Orpheus; Ramakrishna and the Maharishi among the recent envoys — and the page ends on the war: blessings "over the sorrowing mothers whose sons were sacrificed by the egoism of men".
The Krishnamurti question, addressed by name: does Mitra Deva's "Instructor of the World" clash with the title "already borne by the Beloved Krishnamurti"? The reply — "The sacred admits no polemic" — declines the fight while the whole article answers it doctrinally: hierarchies of Lord, Amsa, Instructor, disciple. The run's only direct engagement with the Order of the Star controversy.
The sixteen-Krishna scheme: Mitra Deva first of NINE Great Masters before the sixteenth Krishnavatara "12,000 years from then" — the Mandala's deep-time table printed with its Devi Bhagavata citation; a footnote corrects the circular's date and reports the Avatara "has at times come down from the Himalayas".
Jehel's synthesis joins the estates: Iodhevauhe and Adam-Eve beside Nara — "each human being is also the partial amsa of Nara" — and "Suddhas and Martinists, among others, raise their Mystic Song to the Unity of Life": the review's two doctrinal families formally married, signed 8 May 1945 — VE Day.
The burn-degree table with its survival arithmetic (half the body: death in 6-16 hours; an eighth: after 92) — period surgical pathology, and the serial's coda that heat "is neither beneficent nor maleficent": the energy-neutrality doctrine applied to trauma medicine.
Pictet's frozen fish revived from -15°, frogs at -28°, bacteria at -100° — the cold-tolerance ladder mirroring last month's heat ladder; the serial's symmetry across polarities is deliberate architecture.
"Like heat, cold is in itself indifferent" — the paired conclusion, with cryotherapy and thermocautery as the proof that the same energy heals or destroys by circumstance: the column's recurring monism of energy.
Ramanuja's "Thy Path", June 1945: "The very people who vociferate against the dictators… have not yet been capable of understanding that true liberty depends only in the smallest degree on external causes" — the review's sole, oblique acknowledgment of the war's end: liberation read inward.
