There exist many other cosmic-terrestrial influences of complex nature (which fundamentally are nothing but modifications of a single energy; the astral light), which work upon us, such as for example, the meteoric, those of temperature, luminous ones, etc. We will speak of them in our next articles, for in this one we will limit ourselves only to treating those terrestrial or telluric radiations of which for some years a new science has been occupying itself: Radiesthesia.
The Prejudice Against Ancient Knowledge
As always happens in some scientific environments, it is believed that these studies are completely new and that, consequently, the ancients knew nothing about these radiations and their influence on man and other living beings. However, although the ancients may not have known many details, they knew perfectly the nature of these energies and, if we wanted to listen to them instead of continuing to consider them as dreamers, fanatics or ignorant, we could still learn much from them, despite ourselves, they are still our teachers.
Chinese Feng Shui Practices
We have already seen, for example, how the Chinese consulted an expert in FOUNG-CHOEI, before constructing a house or any other construction, to learn from him on what terrain it was convenient to effect the construction and what should be its orientation. We now add that they, to be able to know better the nature of the terrain, but not from the point of view of its chemical composition, but from the point of view of the radiations that emanated from it, planted in it a bamboo, whose extremity immersed in the terrain was of steel.
With this system (whose principle is identical to that of modern electroculture systems), they could not only establish what was the harmony or disharmony between the IANG forces (of external origin) and YN (of internal origin), in that determined terrain, but favor the reestablishment of harmony between these two polarities of TAI-KI.
We know, on the other hand, from what the CHOU-KING relates to us, that one of the first emperors who occupied himself with terrestrial radiations, discovering hidden objects in the soil and giving valuable indications on the different epochs in which it was convenient to plant seeds or effect transplants and on the manner of working the earth, was the emperor YU of the HSIA dynasty and who reigned between 2200 and 2197 before Christ.
Etruscan and Roman Knowledge
Something analogous to what the Chinese did was practiced by the Etruscans, who very well knew the emanations of terrain. In effect, they investigated through the Haruspices the nature of the terrain, and favored cultivation by planting sticks with the same finalities as the Chinese. The Romans, as is known, learned from the Etruscans said knowledge and for many centuries put it into practice.
