In its natural eagerness to search for the intuited Mystery, related to the essence of its own nature and its true finality, humanity has often arrived at a lamentable confusion between **"secrets"** and **"mysteries."**
Numerous philosophical and religious sects of all kinds, realizing perfectly that the essence of the Mystery, which was possibly known at some time by their founders, is no longer known by their leaders or members, have not known how to pronounce the words that most dignify the human being: **"I do not know."**
In their vain eagerness to remain in a position of apparent superiority over the masses, perhaps ignorant but at least sincere in their search, they have not known how to confess their own ignorance of the really occult laws of the constitution of the human being, of universal life, and of the relationships existing between the visible and invisible, between the divine and human.
## The Conventional Secret Deception
To disguise this uncomfortable position of ignorance, they have resorted to a resource consisting of repeating tirelessly, generation after generation, the same commonplaces of exoteric theory, presenting them with the character of secret and transcendental things.
**The libraries and bookstores of the entire planet are full of doctrines and symbols, catechisms and rituals, of "secret renewals" that are an eternal and renewed commentary on the same thing,** and which many repeat, in words, gestures, oaths, ceremonies and various obligations, with a secret character that has no reason to exist.
### The Musical Analogy
**The secret is not in the name of the music publisher's house; nor does it reside in the list of orchestras that have already performed a certain piece; nor is it found in the identity of the masters who directed its execution, and not even in the identity of the author who composed the symphony. Making all of this secret is "child's play" that has nothing more serious in which to occupy its time and that of everyone else.**
**The mystery of the symphony surely resides in what inspired such music, in the effect that it produces and will produce for all times to come in the souls of listeners;** it surely enters into the hidden root of sound, of its combinations and its bonds with other modalities of vibration of life, on all planes.
And, however much we knew the biography of the author, however much we knew musical theory, however capable we were of discovering the material technique of his composition; would all this enable us to feel what a Beethoven could feel when conceiving, writing or executing it?

The essential difference between the musician, taken as an example, and ourselves, surely resides in that **"his soul" is that of a genius, of a being of supreme evolution** and we can barely capture, very partially, what he could receive, mold, translate and vivify for generations and generations.
## The Nature of True Mystery
**Thus also happens with Mystery. No conventional and figurative "secret," no literal expression of human language, oral or written, painted or sculpted, can "unveil" the Mystery.** It will be able, at most, to **"reveal,"** that is, to present under a new veil, the indescribable perception lived or conceived by the actor, by the one who has lived the Mystery.
We come in this way to realize that, in this process, beings find themselves divided into two series, which we could well denominate **spectators and actors**.
Those who cultivate the "secret" are not and never will be anything but simple **spectators** who comment, with uselessly secretive attitudes, on what the **actors** have lived... and who arrive, sometimes with the most sincere good faith, to believe that they are acting. **Puppets who believe themselves alive, automatons who have the illusion of personal existence and animation.**
### The False Declaration of Love
They wave their arms, pronounce conventional phrases, execute prescribed acts... and give the impression of beings who, without being in love and in the most absolute solitude, would make a declaration of love (in the best of hypotheses), to an absent and unknown beloved, whose name they swear... with reason, not to reveal...
**The Mystery is, precisely, the Beloved whom they do not know, and at whose feet only love felt and lived can lead us.**
That is why when someone tires of the useless representation, upon realizing that **"others already have children,"** there is born in them the desire to love truly and, leaving aside the pretended secrets, cold and unnamed, they direct themselves toward where they feel the warm heat of internal life.
## The Revelation to Lovers
They begin then to perceive that **Nature, Life and Divinity, all that in truth is the Great Mystery, "only reveals itself to its lovers,"** as has already been said and that the mysterious bond that can establish contact is nothing but a love made of fidelity and disinterest, like all real love, for that Truth which is Life, which is Divinity itself in action.
They lose then the vanity of theoretical knowledge, the petty pretension of their conventional and secret titles, the useless preoccupation with keeping silent what the whole world already knew, the vain arrogance of forcing the door of the Temple whose threshold is not visible except in the light of love and disinterested service.
### The Practical Lesson
They begin to understand the lesson of daily life, in which petulance, boldness, third-party recommendations, conventional or secret bonds of interest, can help to climb social or professional positions, but can never permit true moral technical progress, much less grant us the deep and sincere love of a woman who loves us for **"what we really are"** and not for what we possess or appear to have.
## The Divine Feminine Aspect
**The MYSTERY, under its feminine aspect as Goddess of Truth, is a woman of supreme beauty, of supreme intelligence, of supreme justice, whose feeling is so absolutely exact, that only through a vibration that has real affinity with her, can we obtain the grace of contemplating her in all her splendor.**
And, if the Ancient Temples presented this symbol, placing a mirror in the hand of the Goddess, it was to show that, as the only response to all "declarations" from her suitors, She invited them to look at themselves in the mirror, so that they might judge for themselves if they were worthy of approaching Her and, so that, as a first step toward understanding Her Divine existence, they should seek to know themselves.
### Martinism and the Mirror
**It is for this reason that Martinism, which in certain parts of its symbolic rites also presents the Mirror to the aspirant for greater real knowledge, wishes to remove from the minds of its disciples that attachment existing in many beings, for these "Punchinello secrets"** —as the French say— **that form the base of archaic and materialized rites of many kinds, secrets of pure conventional form, that constitute no practical key.**
If, from said symbolic representations, contained in various religions and in some philosophical rites, or so-called such, there is something that can be used in the search for the real Mystery, it is certainly not the simple statement or graphic representation of such symbols, words, ceremonies or dogmas. However much we repeat to someone that Divinity is Tri-Une or tell them that everything is the product of Wisdom, Force and Beauty, we will not thereby bring them closer to the perception of the living reality of such a fact. **It is, therefore, profoundly useless to ask for secrecy about such a statement.**

But, if someone, in the intimacy of their heart, whether **"praying alone in their room,"** as the divine Essene said, whether in silent meditation or contemplation, receives the ineffable caress of the Universal Goddess, you can be sure that they will never unveil, before those who do not have the necessary and devotional respect, the smallest part of what they have been given to live in these moments.
But, just as the children of men show by their education and feeling the anxious tenderness of the education they received from their Mothers, **so also the Children of Truth, of Light, of the Mystery of the Divine Mother, will let be sensed, by their mere presence, the reflection of the ineffable Goodness and the unfading Light that crown the forehead of the Goddess of Mystery** who presides over all life, because all life is daughter of Her Bosom, in which pulsates the eternal rhythm of the Love that creates from all Eternity and for all times derived from it.

## Commentaries on the First Degree of Martinism
### QUATERNARY CHARACTER OF MARTINISM
Why is it said that Martinism has a quaternary character, and what are its teachings that relate to this affirmation?
In the first place, **Martinism has always emphasized in its teaching the importance of the "Quaternary" considered as "Unity that summarizes the ternary."**
## THE DIVINE QUATERNARY
Regarding the Divine Being, it is thus an affirmation stated in these terms:
**First Manifestation (or Divine Person):** The Father, Life.
**Second Manifestation (or Divine Person):** The Son, or in certain aspect the Virgin, the "Divine Mother," the Word.
**Third Manifestation (or Divine Person):** The Holy Spirit or Light.
**The "Synthesis" of all this is "MANIFESTED GOD,"** that is, the Quaternary that has been called the Kingdom of God.
This shows us that, regarding the Divine Plane, we could not conceive, much less understand Divinity, if there did not exist that **"synthetic Quaternary, reflection of the original Unity"** that is its manifestation.
## THE HUMAN QUATERNARY
Regarding the Human Being, we all accept its triple organization: Spirit, Soul and Body, but its abstract, primordial "seed" would also be inconceivable for us, if we could not follow its action by studying the manner of acting of **the "quaternary" summarizing the stated ternary: the Visible Human Being, Man, who is taken, as we know, by three "unconscious" governed by one Consciousness.**
## THE NATURAL QUATERNARY
Regarding Nature, we see three planes of organization: mineral, vegetable and animal, synthesized in what is called **"organized life"** and also in that cited quaternary **"the human being,"** who contains all the substances and all the vibrations that can be found in any mineral, vegetable or animal, for he is **"the king of visible creation"** in that sense; he has in himself the key of communication and direction of the visible world.
Finally, we see that every phenomenon obeys that same law of synthesis of three aspects or modalities of action, in a general fact, for example: Shadow, penumbra, clarity; three modalities of the light phenomenon.
Positive, negative, neutral; three phases of the electricity, magnetism, etc. phenomenon.
## THE SACRED NAME IHVH
It is to engrave this well in the minds of the disciples that Martinism has adopted the teaching of quaternary character, especially as the base of intellectual study of every fact and, also, because we have already seen in other articles that **the word Iod-Hé-Vau-Hé, divine name used in many initiations, signified many things, among which:**
**Iod:** A Principle of Eternal and Immutable Life. Potential.
**Hé:** That same universal, manifested as Energy.
Potential.
**Hé:** That same universal, manifested as Energy.
**Vau:** A plastic bond, condensed light, creative and conservative agent.
**Hé:** Synthesis and vehicle of all the above in physical, visible forms, of transitory existence.
## THE CHRISTIAN INITIATION: I.N.R.I.
**If we wanted to study it through the sacred word of the Christian Gospels and of the Rosicrucian initiation that Martinism transmits to its adepts, we would find one of its interpretations:**
**I** — **Igne** (Fire, Principle of Life, spiritual Energy).
**N** — **Númeno** (Archetype, abstract Mold, organizational Principle).
**R** — **Rota** (Natural laws of astral organization, bonds of life).
**I** — **Integración** formal, visible kingdom, phenomenic totality.
**The "directive intention of the supreme intelligence" or first "I," provoking creations or organizations, which, when acting on the visible plane, or second "I," work to consciously actualize the principle of their origin through form,** it can be said that this Internal Fire is the motive and finality, which is symbolized by writing this name INRI at the four points of a cross, inscribed in a circle, to show that everything is a question of **"cycles," "orbs,"** and other analogous terms, used according to what is considered. All this is summarized in the expression:
**Igne Natura Renovatur Integra.** That is, through this Fire, through its movements or vibrations and the reactions provoked by it and on it by the other three planes of action, **the "nature" of each being and thing and, therefore, "the totality of Nature" (the Universe, in its various planes and aspects) is "renewed" integrally.**

## MARTINISM AS QUATERNARY ORGANIZATION
**Martinism also manifests as a cultural or initiatic "quaternary" organization because it adopts, like all Initiatic Fraternities, the base of "quaternary" studies corresponding to the letters of the name of the letters Iod-Hé-Vau-Hé or of I.N.R.I., that is, in ascending order:**
1. **Study of the Visible World (Nature).**
2. **Study of the Human Being.**
3. **Study of the Invisible and Divine World.**
4. **Cognitive Synthesis or Illumination.**
## THE QUATERNARY OF HUMAN EXPERIENCE
From another point of view we will again be led to a synthetic Quaternary:
### DESTINY
**Inescapable effects of the past and of immutable laws eternally present, "fatal" from the moment they are put into action, consciously or unconsciously. Obligations and Necessities: physical, moral and spiritual inescapable.**
### HUMAN WILL
**Free will, proportional increase of freedom and responsibility, in function of knowledge, of sensorial and intuitive perception. Possibilities, duties and rights: physical, moral and spiritual freely accepted.**

Possibilities, duties and rights: physical, moral and spiritual freely accepted.**
### PROVIDENCE
**Protection, Inspiration, Orientation, Direction, that beings receive continuously, with none, little, much or full consciousness of its existence and action. Superconsciousness in development, or, better expressed, extension of Consciousness to new modalities of perception and action.**
### SYNTHESIS: LIFE
**In the broadest meaning of the word: Mutual and reciprocal action of Divinity, of the Human Being, of Nature and of any and every modality of Energy or Form, among themselves.**
**Tends to realize the CONSCIOUSNESS of UNITY in each being and the harmonization of its activity with all other partial activities, of the Great Activity: UNIVERSAL LIFE: God in action, existence and essence.**
## THE SYMBOLISM OF THE CROSS
**Martinism summarizes, then, all doctrinal presentation, in the quaternary symbolism of the Cross, for it seeks to make students understand and feel all the various parts of the Universal Doctrine that manifest or hide under the marvelous symbol of said Cross, which is the summary of the Quaternary Law.**
## THE FOUR DEGREES OF MARTINISM
By virtue of the same Law, **the Martinist Order has established three degrees of "Preparation";**
**The Associate:** preparation of the body and beginning of preparation of the Soul.
**The Initiate:** Preparation of the Soul, or mastery of the astral part, individual and sometimes somewhat more.
**The Superior Unknown:** Preparation of the Mind in its double aspect: concrete and abstract.
**Then comes the "Fourth Degree: Fil∴ Des∴" or Initiator, synthesis of the previous ones and full possibility of application, since in this Grace begins the possibility of forming Disciples.**
## THE QUATERNARY IN TEMPLES
Finally, in its Temples, **Martinism also has the Quaternary as ceremonial base, since the liturgical offices represent again the Quaternary Law:**
**Fil∴ Des∴** (Spiritual Power) Positive of the positive.
**Maest∴ Inic∴** (Astral Descend.) Negative of the negative.
**Maest∴ Asoc∴** (Astral Ascend.) Positive of the negative.
**Maest∴ Incog∴** (Materialized Power) Negative of the positive. (Synthesis in the visible plane).
This is another way of expressing "quaternarily" the double law: **magnetic, of polarization of each arm of the cross; Poles and sub-poles, and the mystical law that can be expressed thus:**
**"Descending the spirit, through the astral, to matter, it will return through the astral, to spirit, that is, to its own origin."** This is a circuit, circle or closed cycle, in four times. **A cross inscribed in a circle.**

Having studied, in previous articles, the influences of the Zodiacal Signs Aries and Taurus, we will now see that of:
## GEMINI or the Twins
**J.J. Burgoyne**, the Rosicrucian author of [translate:"La Luz de Egipto"] "The Light of Egypt" tells us that the symbol of Gemini, under its symbolic aspect, represents the unity and strength of union in action, as well as the truths inherent to union. **The two brilliant stars Castor and Pollux represent the twin souls.** The Greek myth of Castor and Pollux, avenging the rape of Helen, is nothing more than the repetition of the biblical story of Simeon and Levi massacring the men of Shechem on account of the offense made to their sister Dinah by the son of Hamor.

This powerful sign constitutes the first and highest emanation of the Air trigon or triplicity and is the constellation of Mercury.**
### Intellectual Influence
**On the Intellectual plane, Gemini signifies the union of reason and intuition, and those who are under its dominion express the highest intellectual state of incarnated humanity.** They are versatile, free, philosophical and generous. Their magnetic sphere is very susceptible to receiving the influence of inspirational currents. **By nature they are agitated and excessively energetic. They possess an abundance of intellectual force that irresistibly impels them into the most gigantic undertakings.** Their fundamental traits are intuitive and intellectual activity; they are therefore nervous and active, as can be observed in the Yankee people, whose country is under the influence of the Twins.
### Physical Influence
**On the Physical plane, the Twins grant a tall and straight body, sanguine complexion, dark hair, grayish or brown rather light eyes, a penetrating gaze, and lively and active walk and gestures.** In their tendency, those born under this sign and in the entire Air trigon, are versatile and changeable. They have scientific tendency and passion for the acquisition of all types of knowledge, however, they are not constant and rarely study thoroughly and for a long time the same thing; they have contemplative tendency, as well as an extremely developed imagination.
### Botanical and Mineral Correspondences
Among other plants, **the following are "ruled" by the Twins: privet, grass, spirea or "queen of the valleys," madder, honeysuckle, worm herb, verbena and milfoil. Among other stones, garnet and all stones with stripes of various colors.**

**Gemini gives, in general, elevated stature, straight and slender body, with long arms and hands and feet also long, but well made. The complexion is fresh, colorful, brown or grayish eyes, expressive and lively gaze, agile and rapid walk, stepping lightly.** The character is good, with taste for arts and sciences, fame and study. **The judgment is good, good merchant, facility of expression and makes himself respected by all. This sign has influence over the arms and bronchi and Mercury is its "Lord" or general Regent.**
### The Three Decanates
**The first decanate of Gemini (first 10 degrees), is under the influence of Jupiter;** grants a humanitarian and generous tendency, but little luck and happiness. The spirit usually has good gifts and aptitudes, but judgment is weak and the person has excessive confidence in himself, thus causing numerous damages and being the author of his own bad luck. He is capable of elevating himself by his personal merits, but makes bad use of his means and qualities. This decanate grants facility of elocution, taste for law and literature.
**The second decanate (degrees 11 to 20), is governed by Mars** and imparts a violent and quarrelsome nature, ungrateful and with tendency to controversy. The persons born in this decanate (except very good aspects to the contrary), spend their life in chicanery and disputes, over interests, fortune and position. Such decanate can grant favors from persons of influence, Martian or related to Mars (military etc.), but causes dangers or accidents in travels and acute fevers.
**The third decanate (degrees 21 to 30), is ruled by the Sun.** Grants brilliant intelligence, success in letters or sciences, numerous travels, elevated relations, some success in literature or arts, but with an agitated life and with little material fortune.
## THE "FACES" OF GEMINI (divisions of 5 degrees)
**If we consider the "Faces" of GEMINI**, we will see that according to classical opinions collected by **Dr. Salmón**, they signify:

**Makes the person: tall, thin, rigid, slender; the complexion is reddish, somewhat dark; dark or reddish hair; round shoulders, short legs. Facility of speech.** This division is of Mars vibration and makes hunters. ### MULA UDDIYANA JALANDHARA BHANDHAS
**This posture is one of the most secret of Asana Yoga,** it is practiced as follows:
1) **Sit on the ground in Padmasana.**
2) **Exert slight pressure with the left heel on the generative organ, at the same time contracting the anus.**
3) **Inspire slowly and deeply, at the same time contracting the diaphragm as much as possible (as indicated in Fig. 21) and closing the circuit of physical Prana by keeping the wrists resting on the knees and with the thumb and index fingers in contact.**
4) **Place the right heel on the organ of generation and expire slowly.**
### The Pranic Science Behind the Practice

Besides the materials and energies that every food yields to the body, there are found as basic sources, the organic mineral salts and the famous vitamins, **by whose lack the organs and body become impoverished and weakened, bringing as consequence premature old age.**
### Specific Organ Requirements
**We will see that our liver irremissibly needs renovation material translated in salts of potassium, sulfur and sodium with a dose of vitamin C.** Iodine, silicon, sulfur, calcium salts, para-amino-benzoic acid and pantothenic acid, a proportion of inositol and a dose of vitamins C and B with all their compounds are needed for our kidneys. **Calcium, sodium, potassium, iron, chlorine, manganese and iodine salts with a dose of vitamins B, C and D, for our heart.**

**The sexual organs also need salts of all kinds, very especially potassium, calcium and iron, with a strong dose of vitamins A, B, C, D and E.**
### Nervous and Circulatory Systems
**Our nervous system, which suffers and soon becomes disorganized in the exaggerated effort to which we constantly subject it, needs silicon, phosphorus, sulfur, magnesium and calcium salts with a dose of vitamins B, C and D.**
**The venous system that so soon becomes weak, deficient and brittle from arteriosclerosis, from the mistaken norm of life we lead, the false and deficient feeding to which we subject our body, needs sodium salts and a quantity of vitamin C.**

**Now, also, our muscles, which need vital elements to always maintain their elasticity, have need of chlorine, iodine and potassium salts with vitamin A.**
With all the above exposed, our dear readers will realize the forced necessity of all these specified elements, so that all our organism can maintain itself vigorous, healthy and young. **Our organism is a true chemical laboratory; when it does not receive these elements it becomes sick and declines, and, almost always, never to rise again.**

### General Principles
In this world, composed at once of the animated and inanimate creation, **there exists one that is the noblest of all; It is the human race; and man is a creature subject to the Influence of the course of time in which he lives.** The world, in which man is, is also subject to the course of Time, and hence arises a correlation between man and the **Jagat** (evolutionary process of the world). **Being inherent to man's nature to be always seeking progress, his efforts are constantly influenced by the conditions of the Time in which he lives,** as well as his relation to the Jagat is external because of the existing correlation between him and the Jagat.
### The Three Types of Progress
The advancement or progress thus sought by man, can be classified into three groups:
**There is the Prakrítico, or Material, therefore, mundane:**
**the Átmico, or Spiritual, and**
**the Suddha, the Pure or Absolute.**
**It is also a perfectly verified fact that, to help man in his efforts toward progress, there exists an Almighty God, and a Hierarchy to execute his divine mandates.**
## The Divine Hierarchy
Under this Hierarchy there is **a body of Elder Brothers and Mahatmas, who observe and direct the course of aspirants,** who, according to their degrees of advancement, are divided into four groups: **Dasas, Thirtas, Brahmas and Anandas.**
**This Esoteric Organization exists externally for the welfare and due spiritual advancement of people on the face of the globe.** The members of this Organization are always dedicated to the administration, for each race and country, of particular laws, or aspects of true religion, according to what occasions and circumstances require.
### The Himalayan Assembly
**This Assembly, which has its dwelling toward the north of the forests of Badari, situated in the Himalayas, consists of many Mahatmas, Siddhas (Adepts) and great Rishis.** Among its members, are found individuals of every class and communities from the face of the globe, independently of unequal social condition, here in the physical world.
**Among them are also found many women, who by their efforts and intense discipline have advanced until becoming Siddhas (Adepts).**
### The Supreme Leadership
This Organization recognizes:
a) **BHAGAVAN NÁRÁYANA, as its Chief,**
b) **YOGA DEVI, personification of all Sakti (power) as executrix of his divine will and**
c) **NARADEVA, representative of the human race, as its secretary.**
**Allusion to the existence of this Hierarchy is made in almost all the sacred books of the Orient.**
## The Supreme Brahman
**It is firm belief of theists, who believe in the existence of an Almighty God, that there is something that transcends the conception of man's five senses. This something is called Para Brahman.** This Para Brahman is not limited by Time or Space and cannot be properly described. **Furthermore, this is what has been described in various Scriptures as that which transcends all creation, but which at the same time is the radical cause of it. The principal teaching of the Vedas is that the noblest aspiration of one consists in making a living effort to realize this Brahman, since it is the source of all Bliss.**
**Time, Space, the Hierarchs and the work accomplished by the Hierarchy, is nothing but the manifestations of this Supreme Brahman.**
### The Work of the Hierarchs
**The Hierarchs being an Amsa (fragment) of Para Brahman, are always dedicated to establishing the rules of Dharma, according to the conditions of Time and the general progress of people.** And it is the duty of the human race to recognize the changes due to the march of time and other conditions, and adopt those rules of conduct that are dictated by the Hierarchs charged with governing the world.
For example, **the rules and laws by which the human race is divided into various castes or social grades, are those that affect only the physical or exterior body; these divisions are based principally on the Sátvica and other qualities that are the necessary consequence of the composition of bodies.**
**The rules that govern such divisions are not of universal application, touching the conditions of time and place.** With the purpose of establishing rules that are of universal application, **the Hierarchy, under the direction of Bhagavan Náráyana, its Chief, realizes works, now representing new laws, now explaining appropriately and publishing commentaries, on existing truths.**
## Divine Manifestation in the World
**With this object members of the Organization make their appearance in the physical world.** In this appearance, **the Elder Brothers, if they come to the face of the world through an advanced person, make use of this as a vehicle for themselves, without attending to the birth or social state of that person.**
When a person lends himself to this mission, **all the superior powers of Atma, that until the present were latent in him, are put into activity and the person himself becomes a great Seer (in the sense of Illuminated) or Master, being thus capable of promulgating the laws that the Hierarchy has the intention of expounding.** Such were the great masters and founders of religions of the world.
**On occasions, when it is absolutely necessary, Lord Náráyana himself appears among men.**

**In his yearning for progress, unless man follows THE RIGHT SYSTEM OF CONDUCT, it is impossible for him to obtain all kinds of prosperity.**

There are **three systems** to realize this end, and their names are in harmony with the importance of their various aspects. **They are: Prakrítico, Átmico and Suddha.**

**When a man follows that system in which the greatest importance is attributed to the "Prakrítico" medium, that is, the physical aspect, or of Matter and Form of Brahman, he is gradually distancing himself from all thoughts of Atma or Spirit in him.** He becomes, so to speak, an atheist. All progressive knowledge and truths of the Spirit in man are lost from sight.
### The Átmico System
**Similarly, those who follow the Átmico system of thought, attribute great importance to the Spirit in man and lose sight of the aspect of Matter.** For them the manifested creation becomes a mere illusion, and for such reason, they cannot derive from it the benefits of material evolution, means necessary to truly realize the Spirit in man.
### The Need for Balance
**Therefore, each of the mentioned paths, with the diverse scriptures that treat of them, with the various philosophical schools proposed by them, as is now evident, would not be of benefit in the present time for the advancement and progress of the human race, since such exclusive development of each leads to an unbalanced progress.**
**But, if man yearns for development in every sense, it is necessary to situate oneself at the point from where both systems come and to where they again converge.** This system, which transcends the two already cited, is known by the name of **Suddha** and it is firm belief of the Elder Brothers and other Mahatmas, that **the human race can surely progress in all its aspects with the study of the texts that treat of this dharma and following the schools where these truths are expounded.**
## The Suddha Synthesis
According to what they expound, **the origin and synthesis of all, is known as Suddha Brahman; the literature that deals with this realization is known as Suddha Vidya (literature, doctrine); and the dharma, or religion that is necessary to observe for this realization is known as Suddha Dharma. All these things are enclosed in the Suddha Dharma Mandalam.**

## Cosmic Influences and Reactions of Living Beings
### Terrestrial Radiations
We have already mentioned in our first article on **"Variations of terrestrial magnetism,"** the fact that the influences of varied nature existing and working in the environment in which we live, exercise, even often without perceiving it consciously, functional modifications, both physiological and psychic in our organisms.
**Those influences are of cosmic origin in general and terrestrial in particular** and, regarding the latter, we have already spoken of the variations of terrestrial magnetism and its influences on man, as well as the variations produced by orientation and by "contact" or "isolation" from the soil.
There exist many other cosmic-terrestrial influences of complex nature (which fundamentally are nothing but modifications of a single energy; the astral light), which work upon us, such as for example, the meteoric, those of temperature, luminous ones, etc. **We will speak of them in our next articles, for in this one we will limit ourselves only to treating those terrestrial or telluric radiations of which for some years a new science has been occupying itself: Radiesthesia.**
