**Historical Note:** This June 1944 issue represents a pivotal moment in Western esoteric history, featuring the most comprehensive Martinist reforms since Papus's original organization. Published as the Allied invasion of Normandy began, Jehel's reforms implemented on June 9, 1944 (chosen for its "greatest moral force of each year") eliminated all Masonic influences, established complete gender equality, and unified Eastern-Western teachings within a single initiatic framework. The inclusion of detailed rational dietary guidelines, advanced astrological instruction, and T.M. Janardanam's profound analysis of religious organization demonstrates the sophisticated integration of practical guidance with philosophical depth that characterized mature wartime spiritual leadership.

# Document 99: Reforms in the Martinist Order - The Great Transformation of June 1944

**Translation from [translate:La Iniciación] Vol. 3 No. 26, June 1944**

**By Jehel, P∴G∴C∴ (Past Grand Commander) and President of the Grand Council of the Martinist Order**

## Reforms in the Martinist Order

Initiated in 1922 in the Martinist Order, having assumed its visible direction in 1936 and reorganized its administrative and ritualistic structure in 1939, I have had, then, the opportunity, in that long period of time, to observe the advantages and eventual inconveniences that the marvelous organization given to our beloved and venerable Martinist Order by PAPUS in Europe, could present in what refers to its adaptation to the American environment and especially of Latin America.

It is for this reason that, in agreement with my Brothers of the Kabbalistic Order of the Rose Cross and of the Grand Council of the Martinist Order, I have resolved after all that period of observation in different countries in which Martinism studies, prays and works silently, to proceed to the reforms that, with the date of **June 9** (the date of greatest moral force of each year), will be put into effect, for all the Corporations and Free Members of our beloved Order, in this Continent.

### The Principle of Transparency

As, on the other hand, Martinism does not hide from profane gazes more than that which has a character too sacred to be published or what each one must find alone, through study, meditation, and through the reiterated practice of acts in harmony with the doctrine, I have believed it convenient that [translate:"LA INICIACIÓN"] should bring to public knowledge the general spirit that has presided over these reforms, leaving in this form every Reader of the magazine in conditions to form a judgment and to be able eventually, to avoid that his mind be preoccupied by erroneous concepts that by chance interested persons might formulate, misrepresenting, unconsciously or on purpose, the real orientation of the Martinist Order.

## THE FUNDAMENTAL DOCTRINE REMAINS UNCHANGED

## THE FUNDAMENTAL DOCTRINE REMAINS UNCHANGED

PAPUS SAID: **"Martinism is a free Christian Chivalry, dedicated to the study of Christian esotericism, to the practice of charity in all its modalities and thus constitutes the door of entry to almost all the more elevated Fraternities."**

**Such fundamental concept remains unaltered.** Martinism, Christian by its doctrine, Christian by the composition of its collectivity, whose enormous majority is evidently constituted by persons of white race and of Christian spiritual or religious formation, considers and will always consider the Christian revelation as the most proper to orient the current white civilization, for being that which came subsequently to all the religious and philosophical forms of the preceding races, but, the Martinist, as true Initiate or Initiate-in-training, must know how to find in each of the truths presented by the Instructors anterior to the Christ, the marvel of his word, the Eternal and Immutable Truth, dressed with other languages and presented with external modalities proper to the time and place in which they were given to Humanity.

### Universal Truth, Not Sectarianism

Thus, then, the Martinist can never be a sectarian, in religious matter, nor in philosophical matter, and must be able to honor with devotion and practice with equal reverence all the truths that Buddhism, Taoism or any other anterior revelation has communicated to the human spirit, because, if they are truths, they are permanent, and if they are so, they are in essence and content in Christianity itself. **For this reason, also, Martinism definitively refuses to place woman in a situation of inferiority and recognizes the most absolute equality of spiritual possibility —that is to say, initiatic— as man, of whom she is the indispensable physiological, moral and social complement.**

## THE ELIMINATION OF MASONIC INFLUENCES

**In the reforms of reference, any and all trace of resemblance between Martinism and the rites called "Masonic" has been eliminated**, for judging that the time of secret societies has passed and that the modality of work of the Masons has nothing to do with the work of the initiatic orders that are profoundly religious in their doctrine, in their convictions and in their practices, since meditation and prayer are fundamental in the path that Martinism teaches.

### Emphasis on Practice Over Theory

Another characteristic of the modality of teaching and work now emphasized in the orientation of Martinism, is **the synthesis each time more brief given to the theoretical part of studies and the increase of data provided to Disciples on the practical part**, destined thus to take an increment each time more ample and to distinguish the Martinist in a way each day more clear from the "seekers of information to discuss theories or criticize authors."

**Suppressed, then, the pompous and useless titles with which the members of some rites adorn themselves** and that until a certain epoch the love for traditional forms had made conserve in part in Martinism; suppressed also the complex formalities of the administrative and ritualistic aspect, eliminated all the modalities of work or presentation typically European and characteristic many times of, barely, certain epochs or rites, **Martinism tends now to take a formal, administrative and teaching aspect each time more human, each time more essential, each time more universal**, giving importance only to what really is fundamental and immutable and separating from its activities the purely decorative details.

## UNITY OF EASTERN AND WESTERN TRADITIONS

Another particularity worthy of record, is the fact of Martinism now receiving a characteristic that makes more visible the close union between all the Initiatic Centers, of Orient and Occident, giving thus a formal and definitive denial to all those who, to defend a sectarian interest or a unilateral conviction, closed their understanding or their affection to theories, masters, and initiatic schools of the Orient, which are of elevated interest to the student and whose penetration by the most varied channels has demonstrated by facts that the humanity of this Continent had clear appetite to receive them.

### The Aquarian Age Demands Active Fraternities

**The epoch of Aquarius, which approaches, less insensibly than it might appear to those who, from their reading cabinet, follow intellectually ecstatic in the admiration of "what others said," needs that initiatic fraternities be each time more active, more alive, more fecund.** And fecundity, life and any modality of activity manifest through ample, free and related movements with all that, from any point of the Universe, relates to them, or influences them in any manner.

For this reason, **Martinism takes a norm of work destined to create Beings of Will and of Realization, capable of doing effectively something for themselves and for others, even without collective environment, without books, nor temples, nor rituals.** All this is convenient, but our brothers must possess, little by little, in themselves, the stimulus that collective life gives, the knowledge that the book can give and the faith, devotion and spiritual force of true temples.

### The Only Path: Active Practical Preparation

**To achieve this, there is only one path: to prepare oneself actively, practically.**

It is to achieve this that the study programs are now modified, including in each grade practical steps of realization, beginning with corporal preparation, so that the Martinists can have as point of support of their work of moral, intellectual and spiritual betterment, as well as of active service in collective life, a health and corporal irradiation harmonic with the finality considered.

## THE HIGHER FRATERNITIES

## THE HIGHER FRATERNITIES

I said, in the initial part of this article, that today as in the time of PAPUS, Martinism constituted the door of access to various more elevated initiatic Fraternities. I will cite some: **The Kabbalistic Order of the Rose Cross, Gnosticism, the Ramana Ashrama, Suddha Dharma Mandalam, Maha Boddhi Sanga and the H. A. B. M. (Asian Brothers of the Brilliant Mystery).**

But, is it possible that it passes through the mind of some "reader of initiation texts," that he can be magnetizer, alchemist, hermetist, practitioner of elevated states of meditation or ecstasy, one whose body is an ambulatory pathological museum and whose mind is theater of perpetual doubts, of interminable struggles and not few times cradle of thoughts of anger or of analogous sentiments that profoundly disturb his aura, his total vibration?

### Liberation from Maya

**Martinism desires to snatch its adepts from the arms of "Maya," that is, from the perpetual illusion in which the majority of mortals lives.** And the first and greatest of the illusions to eliminate is this: **"What are we now?"**

**To give to the Martinist tools to analyze himself and to transmute what he finds defective, but to do it in practical and clear manner, is the fundamental point of the new orientation**, which will be pursued with all the affection of which those are capable who have dedicated their life and their efforts, however insignificant they may be, to the Work, with the Auspices of those Venerable Figures to Whom we call Masters, because they are really so and because their Goodness, their Knowledge and their Love wait serene but continuously that we prepare ourselves more and better practically to be able to be in conditions to do something as their helpers and not to content ourselves with "reading and discussing" while They labor actively and lovingly.

---

**Historical Analysis:** These reforms represent the most significant transformation in Martinist history since Papus's original organization in the 1890s. Implemented on June 9, 1944 (chosen for its "greatest moral force"), just three days after D-Day, they demonstrate remarkable spiritual leadership during history's most crucial period.

The key innovations include:

**1. Elimination of Masonic Influences:** Recognition that "the time of secret societies has passed" and that initiatic orders must be "profoundly religious" rather than merely fraternal.

**2. Complete Gender Equality:** Definitive establishment that women have "the most absolute equality of spiritual possibility" as men, revolutionary for 1944.

**3. Eastern-Western Integration:** Formal unity with Oriental traditions, acknowledging that humanity had "clear appetite" for Eastern teachings.

**4. Practice Over Theory:** Systematic emphasis on practical realization rather than academic study, with physical preparation as foundation for spiritual work.

**4. Practice Over Theory:** Systematic emphasis on practical realization rather than academic study, with physical preparation as foundation for spiritual work.

**5. Universal Rather Than Sectarian:** Recognition that all authentic revelations contain "Eternal and Immutable Truth" regardless of cultural presentation.

These reforms anticipated by decades the spiritual movements of the 1960s-1970s, demonstrating how authentic esoteric leadership can foresee and prepare for evolutionary changes in human consciousness.

**Translation from [translate:La Iniciación] Vol. 3 No. 26, June 1944**

**Teachings of Jehel, S∴I∴**

## Commentaries on the First Degree of Martinism: Androgony (Continuation)

All the previous articles have put in evidence, whether under the symbolic aspect, or directly in the androgonic teaching, what a human being really is, how it functions and what its true finality is. When we completely finish the androgonic series, at least in what corresponds to the studies of the first degree, we will publish a chart that will be the complete summary of human constitution, detailed in all its aspects.

Today, we desire to fill an evident necessity. We have advised, whether in these articles, or in those that brother Asuri Kapila publishes, rational alimentation as base, not only of the conservation of physical health, but as indispensable foundation of mystical realization, since **"mens sana in corpore sano,"** etc.

So that the Disciples and Readers do not have to preoccupy themselves with seeking in diverse sources the base of such rational alimentation, we have resolved to publish the three lists that permit nourishing oneself harmonically, whether in the vegetarian modality, or in the carnivorous.

## FOUNDATION OF THE RATIONAL ALIMENTATION SYSTEM

**The system consists in never mixing the foods of list ONE with those of list THREE**, that is, not eating in the same occasion, acidic things with sweet foods or starches. **The foods of list TWO being intermediary, can be absorbed, indifferently, alone, or with any of the other two lists: ONE and THREE.** One should try to eliminate from alimentation the substances called **"refined"**: white sugar, white flour, not whole grain, oils, salt and strong condiments. **Vinegar should be substituted by lemon juice.**

In each list, the foods are in alphabetical order, the first of each letter being written in larger type to facilitate the search.

---

## LIST NUMBER ONE

---

## GENERAL HEALTH PRINCIPLES

The indications of this list permit conserving an agreeable state of health, avoiding flatulence and unnecessary fatness; always that one does not abuse the foods of list ONE, which are those that "fatten" and cure all stomach and intestinal discomforts, always that they are not of much gravity. For this reason, if certain persons do not obtain with this alimentation an appreciable improvement, they should then, evidently, have themselves checked by a physician, who will determine the cause of such anomaly, prescribing adequate treatment.

### Daily Health Guidelines

As general advice to conserve health or remedy a quantity of discomforts that all more or less suffer, it suffices, generally, to observe these indications:

**In the morning, fasting, take daily the juice of one lemon**, not eating anything more until after an hour and a half has passed. For those who find it more agreeable, they can mix the lemon juice with two or three oranges.

**If possible fast one day per week.** Lunch abundantly, without excess and dine lightly, never late or before going to bed. The ideal would be not to dine, but to take in the late afternoon, fruits, or tea with something light.

---

## SPECIAL DIETARY RECOMMENDATIONS

### FOR THOSE WHO SUFFER FROM THE KIDNEY

**DOES NOT SUIT THEM:** salt from foods that contain it, such as: olives, anchovies, sardines, cod, cold cuts, etc.

**ARE VERY BAD FOR THEM:** excitants and irritants, such as: pepper, mustard, vinegar, alcohol (in any form), coffee, tea, chocolate, tobacco.

**ALSO DO NOT SUIT THEM:** foods rich in albumins and that leave acid residues (uric acid, oxalic, etc.), like meats, poultry, fish, liver, preserves, sausages, seafood, cheeses, and among vegetables: chard, cabbage, cabbage and asparagus.

**CAN TOLERATE:** Eggs in moderate quantity, raw or soft-boiled; very fresh cheese without salt or little, dried legumes and lemon in very moderate quantity.

**ARE RECOMMENDED:** all fresh and dried fruits, such as: walnuts, hazelnuts, almonds, dates, fleshy black prunes and grape raisins. Banana is very good, being able to make a cure of it, pears, apples, grapes and figs. They can make a true cure of raw milk and fruits; alternating the milk with Yogurt without sugar. Black whole bread with butter, boiled potatoes with skin, lettuce and grated carrot, etc. **COMBINING THE FOODS ACCORDING TO THE PUBLISHED LISTS.**

### FOR THOSE WHO SUFFER FROM THE LIVER

Reduce salt much, procure good intestinal functioning, but without purgatives nor laxatives, eat slowly, tranquil, chew well to avoid slow digestions.

**AVOID TOTALLY:** alcohol, tea, coffee, chocolate, spicy foods, sweets and confectionery things; sauces, fried foods, olives and all preserves and fats.

**EAT MEAT** only at midday and only beef, veal and roasted. No fish, mollusks, cold cuts, brains, nor liver and derivatives. Avoid eggs, cheeses and dried legumes.

**ARE RECOMMENDED:** Yogurt without sugar, cereals in general, all raw or boiled vegetables: potatoes, asparagus, radishes, string beans, spinach. Lettuce salad with raw grated carrot, boiled potatoes with skin, accompanied with whole bread. Very good is the apple, but well chewed, which can be eaten grated and with skin.

**THE BASE** of their alimentation should be raw and well-combined fruit. Nothing of fruits boiled with sugar, compotes nor sweets. **MUCH GRAPE, without skin nor seed.**

### PENNYROYAL

For those who suffer from the liver, it is convenient to take after meals a cup of this infusion, made in the following manner:

Heat a tea cup, put in it six or seven pennyroyal leaves and then pour the well-boiling water. Leave it covered a quarter hour and then drink it hot. It can also be taken at any hour when believed necessary, but **ALWAYS WITHOUT SUGAR.**

We hope that with these indications, our Students and Readers, as well as their relatives, can obtain some result, because we have already experimented these indications with success, personally and in those who surround us.

**HEALTH, PEACE AND UNION.**

**(To be continued)**

---

**Historical Analysis:** This comprehensive dietary system represents one of the most advanced integrations of nutritional science with spiritual practice available in 1944. The three-list system based on digestive pH requirements anticipates modern understanding of food combining principles by decades.

The recognition that refined foods (white sugar, white flour, processed oils) should be eliminated demonstrates remarkable prescience about the health effects of food processing. The detailed recommendations for kidney and liver conditions show sophisticated understanding of how different foods affect specific organ systems.

Most significantly, the integration of this nutritional guidance with spiritual development shows mature understanding that physical health provides the foundation for mystical realization. The principle that one cannot achieve elevated states of consciousness while the body suffers from poor nutrition demonstrates the holistic approach that characterized authentic initiatic teaching during this period.

## Practical Course in Judicial Astrology (Continuation)

Now that we have seen, in previous articles, what the astrologer and occultist should represent, the seven "traditional" planets and Uranus and Neptune, we will approach the study of the Zodiacal Signs, in their general meaning, beginning with:

## ARIES or the Ram

**Aries symbolizes sacrifice.** It is the symbol of our instincts. Persons born under this sign are usually intelligent, full of ardor, aggressive spirit, energetic and imperious will. They are generally persons of action, indomitable, insubmissive, despotic, irritable and argumentative. It gives excellent warriors.

**J. J. Burgoyne**, the Rosicrucian author of [translate:"La Luz de Egipto"] "The Light of Egypt" also indicates to us that:

> "Aries, under the symbolic aspect, is sacrifice. Cattle and sheep give birth to their young in the part of the year when the Sun occupies this Sign. In addition to sacrifice, Aries still symbolizes spring, the beginning of a new year or moment in which life, light and love will be given to the children of earth, as consequence of the victory that, once more the Sun achieves over the empire of winter and death. **The symbol of the lamb immolated upon the equinoctial cross is another modality of representation of Aries.**"

### Kabbalistic Significance

**Kabbalistically, Aries represents the head and brain of the Great Man of the Cosmos.** It is the thinking and acting principle in nature, called, sometimes instinct, and others, intelligence. Upon the esoteric planisphere, this sign is occupied by **Benjamin**, of whom Jacob, —in the blessing to his twelve sons says: **"Benjamin will destroy like a wolf, in the morning he will devour his prey and in the evening will distribute the spoils."** Among all animals, **the wolf is consecrated to the planet Mars and the sign of Aries is under the special control of this ardent planet.**

**Mars is the most ardent of all planets and Aries is the first constellation of the Fire triplicity.** Such correspondence is significant. The Hebrews concealed this relation of the planetary nature of Mars, combining the wolf and the lamb. The phrase **"The wolf in lamb's clothing,"** reveals to us the evil action of Mars when it is found malefically placed in its own sign Aries. **The characteristic stone of this sign is the amethyst** and those who are born with Aries in the Ascendant of their horoscope, will have in it a powerful magnetic talisman. **Aries is the first and most elevated emanation of the Fire triplicity and is the constellation of the planet Mars.**

### Intellectual Influence

**Aries is the first and most elevated emanation of the Fire triplicity and is the constellation of the planet Mars.**

### Intellectual Influence

**On the Intellectual plane, Aries signifies the Martian spirit of destructivity and aggression.** It governs the head and says the Apocalypse of Saint John: **"From the mouth came out a sword of double edge."** It is the active will guided by the executive forces of the brain and those who have this influence never let themselves be guided by thirds.

### Physical Influence

**On the Physical plane, Aries generally gives a thin but robust body, of medium stature, elongated face, abundant eyebrows, a rather long neck, ample chest, rather swarthy or dark complexion; valorous, ambitious, intrepid and despotic character, fiery and passionate tendency.** In general manner it grants a very quarrelsome, irritable and argumentative personality. Its illnesses are those of the head, smallpox, scarlet fever and fevers. Among plants it rules broom or retama, holly, thistle, burdock, fern, garlic, hemp, mustard, nettle, onion, poppy, radish and rhubarb. Of stones and gems, in addition to amethyst, correspond to Aries pyrite, sulfur, ocher and all common red stones.

## THE DECANATES OF ARIES ON THE ASCENDANT

**(according to Julevno)**

Aries gives, in general, medium stature especially in the first ten degrees, thin and nervous body, with thick bones and strong limbs. Penetrating sight, dark complexion, dark or reddish hair. Almost always there is a mark on the face. **The character is choleric, violent, combative, ambitious, intrepid, ingenious. Lively and brilliant intelligence. This sign governs the head and face and has Mars as its lord.**

### The First Decanate (First 10 degrees)

**Is governed by Mars** and gives an aggressive spirit, proper for politics and public affairs. Threatens accident to head or face, causes important changes in life, disposes to military career and distant colonizations.

### The Second Decanate (Degrees 11 to 20)

**Has in addition to the general influence of Mars over all the sign, the Sun as regent of the decanate.** Gives ambition, taste for the arts, haughty and generous nature, success in administrative or military positions and grants favors from powerful people.

### The Third Decanate (Degrees 21 to 30)

**Belongs to Venus.** Grants love for pleasures, strong passions, ardent but good nature, taste for arts and letters, but fortune is not very happy.

## THE "FACES" OF ARIES

**(Divisions of 5 degrees)**

**If we consider the "Faces" of ARIES**, we will see that according to classical opinions collected by **Dr. Salmón**, they signify:

### FACE 1st (0° to 5°):

## THE "FACES" OF ARIES

**(Divisions of 5 degrees)**

**If we consider the "Faces" of ARIES**, we will see that according to classical opinions collected by **Dr. Salmón**, they signify:

### FACE 1st (0° to 5°):

**Small person with broad forehead, prominent cheekbones, narrow chin, aquiline nose, black or reddish hair, little wavy, black eyes and dark complexion.** In the 5th degree is the fixed star, **"Whale's Tail"** of bad influence. If Saturn, Jupiter or Mercury are found in this face, the person will be developed in vivacious and notable intelligence.

### FACE 2nd (6° to 10°):

**Small but strong person, of firm and severe aspect, dark complexion with mark or stain above the nose.**

### FACE 3rd (11° to 15°):

**Medium stature, somewhat thin, long face, dark hair, grayish and sunken eyes, attractive face, because Jupiter and Venus influence this face.** The fixed star, **"Head of Andromeda"** is found here and announces gains, wealth, victory over enemies and taste for luxury. The face is oval, due to the influence of Venus.

### FACE 4th (16° to 20°):

**Medium stature, well proportioned, "pretty," of fresh complexion, haughty aspect, chestnut hair and dark or grayish eyes.** This face is of Jupiter and Venus vibration and is considered benefic. If Mars is there it darkens the complexion and gives it colors; the Moon makes the character mobile; the Sun widens the forehead; Mercury lengthens the face, gives freckles and waves the hair; Uranus blackens the hair.

### FACE 5th (21° to 25°):

**Persons of medium or more stature, black hair, dark and elongated face, poorly aligned teeth that will fall early, twisted legs and the whole body tends to lean forward.**

The influence of Saturn over this face makes the character stubborn, reserved. Mars here gives fieriness and violence; Mars in Aries always gives sunken eyes and combative genius; Saturn in Aries gives strong, deep voice and a developed forehead.

### FACE 6th (26° to 30°):

**Rather tall stature, except if the Moon were present there, austere presence, thick eyebrows, black and wavy hair, large mouth broad nose, solid and well-planted body, the face, of masculine expression is frequently marked by a scar.** If Uranus is present, it makes the face longer, strong and poorly placed teeth.

This face is found under the influence of Mars and Saturn and contains **"Andromeda's Belt,"** fixed star of Venus nature, very favorable for navigators, chemists and breeders. Jupiter present gives a complexion with warts or strong colors; Mercury hollows the cheeks, makes the complexion clearer as well as eyebrows and eyelashes and somewhat flattens the nose.

## THE INFLUENCES OF ARIES IN THE ASCENDANT

**(according to old authors)**

**First face:** Bold, valiant, ingenious character, easy elocution.

**Second:** The same, but with success in the first half of life and reverses afterward.

**Third:** Skillful advisors and politicians, judicious and prudent spirit.

**Second:** The same, but with success in the first half of life and reverses afterward.

**Third:** Skillful advisors and politicians, judicious and prudent spirit.

**Fourth:** Affable, sympathetic character, triumphing in many professions.

**Fifth:** False, foolish and argumentative person.

**Sixth:** Valor, self-confidence, luck in everything in general.

## FACES OF ARIES ON THE MEDIUM COELI

**First:** Soldiers, surgeons, doctors, butchers, metalworkers.

**Second:** Fortune that changes much, alternately.

**Third:** Success in general. Indicates goldsmiths and day laborers.

**Fourth:** Elevation, honors, public offices, military or civil.

**Fifth:** Vulgar, obscure life and corresponding professions.

**Sixth:** Elevation as military, but danger of death in combat.

**Historical Analysis:** This sophisticated astrological analysis demonstrates the remarkable depth of traditional planetary knowledge preserved in South American Martinism during World War II. The integration of multiple traditional sources—Burgoyne's Rosicrucian teachings, Julevno's Martinist astrology, and Dr. Salmón's classical authorities—shows the scholarly rigor that characterized authentic esoteric instruction.

The detailed correspondence between facial characteristics and degree positions reflects the ancient understanding that cosmic influences manifest through observable physical traits. The recognition that Mars in Aries "always gives sunken eyes and combative genius" exemplifies the practical psychological insights embedded within traditional astrological symbolism.

Most significantly, the teaching that Aries represents "the head and brain of the Great Man of the Cosmos" demonstrates understanding of how individual psychological patterns reflect universal cosmic principles, providing a framework for understanding how personal transformation serves collective evolution during the critical period of World War II.

# Document 102: Maha-Asana - The Great Bridge Posture and Bioelectric Nutrition Theory

**Translation from [translate:La Iniciación] Vol. 3 No. 26, June 1944**

**By Asuri Kapila, S∴I∴**

## Progressive Course in Asana Yoga (Continuation)

### MAHA-ASANA

This Asana (from Sanskrit **Maha**-Great and **Asana**-Posture), etymologically signifies **Great Asana** and is also denominated **"bridge posture."**

**Position:** Get on knees with the trunk well erect, the arms naturally extended to the sides of the body and looking forward.

### TECHNIQUE

It is realized as follows:

1) Place the fists with the fingers extended to the sides of the neck.

2) **Exhale, make a small interval, then inspire slowly and profoundly, retain the breath for an instant and bend the trunk slowly toward the left as much as possible, until the elbow touches the ground.**

3) **Return to the original position slowly and also exhale slowly.**

4) **Repeat the same exercise bending the trunk toward the right side.** Figure 20 clearly shows this exercise.

When, after various exercises, one has succeeded in executing this asana with facility, **it should be realized in rapid succession five flexions of the trunk during all the time of one inspiration and then expel the air pronouncing a long and sonorous OM.**

### Advanced Variation

There exists a variant of this asana that consists in placing the fists to the sides of the neck, no longer with the fingers extended but closed. **With this variant the electric circuit is closed, which permits the body to receive all the terrestrial prana that will go to charge the solar plexus and all the other magnetic centers of the body.**

## BENEFITS DERIVED FROM MAHA-ASANA

Practicing this asana from one to three times one can obtain the following benefits:

### 1) Muscular Development

**Tonification and development of the muscles of the thighs, legs, trunk, abdomen, arms and neck.**

### 2) Articular Flexibility

**Greater extension in the play of the articulations of the knees, intervertebral, elbows and wrists.**

### 3) Reproductive Vitalization

**Vigorization of the organs of procreation.**

### 4) Body Reshaping

**Elimination of fatness of the legs, thighs, abdomen and thorax, and especially that which, in women, accumulates in the hips.**

### 5) Nervous System Strengthening

**Tonification of the nervous system in general and of the spinal cord in particular.**

### 6) Feminine Health Enhancement

**Tonification of the ovaries and regularization of menstruation.**

### 7) Digestive Improvement

**Increase of intestinal tonicity and disappearance of constipation.**

## Is it Possible to Prolong Youth?

### Does there exist a Spiritual Alchemy capable of returning youth to us? - Causes of old age and death.

**(Continuation)**

We have already said that if our organism needs mineral salts, like calcium, iron, potassium, magnesium, etc., and various vitamins so that the normal and harmonic development of life can be produced, such elements can never be supplied by synthetic foods, recooked or artificially altered, that is, unnatural foods. All those toxic foods, once ingested, give origin, due to chemical modifications produced by the process of digestion, to different, strange and harmful byproducts, for the normal development of cellular metabolism, becoming thus, true poisons that, acting constantly by their presence and by their electro-magnetic influence, give origin to those **vibratory disequilibriums that we denominate illnesses.**

Why, then, should we marvel if, eating foods in quality and quantity disharmonic with the true necessities of our organism, we come to become sick? Should we marvel if, the illness not presenting itself in an evident and acute form with fever, pains, etc., we go dragging our existence tormented with a thousand discomforts, aged and already useless physically, morally and spiritually?

## THE ELECTRICITY OF THE HUMAN BODY

Should we marvel if, the illness not presenting itself in an evident and acute form with fever, pains, etc., we go dragging our existence tormented with a thousand discomforts, aged and already useless physically, morally and spiritually?

## THE ELECTRICITY OF THE HUMAN BODY

All of us know if not electricity in its ultimate essence, at least in its infinite applications, but very few know that, also the human body is an accumulator and transformer of electro-magnetic energy. **All cells, or better said all the material molecules that constitute in their ensemble the cellular protoplasm, as well as all the assimilated substances that are carried by the blood to said cells to repair the losses occasioned by cellular functions, are charged with electricity.**

**Biological Chemistry has already demonstrated experimentally the existence of positive or negative ions that play a preponderant role, not to say essential, in the normal functions of cellular life**, such as for example in osmotic manifestations through semi-permeable membranes (Intercellular liquid-ectoplasm or cellular membrane-protoplasm), energetic currents existing between protoplasm and cellular nucleus, secretion of various substances, etc.

Now, if these ions, for different causes about which we cannot speak here, discharge themselves, that is, lose their positive or negative energy, they become, by this fact alone useless, unserviceable to contribute to the functions of cellular life and are, consequently, eliminated from the vital process.

### Biological Tropisims

**Biological Chemistry has known for quite some time these vital manifestations due to positive or negative ions and that it has denominated "tropisims."** There exist thus, phototropisms, thermotropisms, electrotropisims, etc., negative and positive, according to whether there is tendency for the positive or negative pole, cathodic or anodic, of light, heat, electricity, etc.

**All vital processes that manifest as functional activity of organs, are, then, determined by the action of these positive or negative charges of ions.** It is thus that the muscle can contract, the nerve give passage to nervous fluid, the gland aggregate diverse substances like saliva, bile, pancreatic juice, hormones, etc., the heart contract rhythmically, to assure normal hydraulic distribution of blood, the lungs dilate and contract to assure gaseous exchanges or hematosis, etc.

## THE THREE VIBRATORY TEMPERAMENTS

**Man manifests, in synthesis, that constant vital work in all his organs, work that can express itself from the manifestations of vegetative life to the most sublime conceptions of thought, intelligence and imagination in his "aura."** And it is the electromagnetic nature of the "aura" that permits knowing, serving oneself with adequate means, the vibratory temperament of each man.

We can in general, say that all men can manifest that vibratory temperament in three modalities: **Neutral, Electric and Magnetic.**

We can in general, say that all men can manifest that vibratory temperament in three modalities: **Neutral, Electric and Magnetic.**

### The Neutral Temperament

**The neutral is extremely rare, because it is the manifestation of a complete dynamic equilibrium between all vital functions of vegetative and relational nature on one hand and animic or emotive and mental or spiritual functions, on the other.** That neutral temperament is what the "adepts" or masters have already achieved and what all of us continuously strive to achieve.

### The Electric Temperament

Much more frequent are the other two temperaments: electric and magnetic. **The electric temperament is the temperament of positive, volitional, energetic, active, projecting men, like men of action, hypnotizers, etc.; in a word, those who influence all others through action, word, gesture and mental and spiritual activity.**

### The Magnetic Temperament

**The magnetic temperament, on the contrary, is the temperament of negative, receptive, passive men, like men who have propensity to receive rather than give, the hypnotizable, mystics, saints, artists in general, sensitives and, in their extreme form, mediums.**

It is clear that there exist no men of exclusively magnetic temperament, because all are electric and magnetic at the same time; **the difference between the first and second, is only in the preponderance of one temperament over another.**

## INDIVIDUAL DIETARY REQUIREMENTS

Now, **alimentation cannot be identical for all, since each man needs that which is most appropriate for him.** As there are prevalently electric organs like glands in general, brain, medulla oblongata, spinal cord, lungs, kidneys, heart, etc. As there are prevalently magnetic organs like liver, stomach, bones, intestines and the same "solar plexus," which is a powerful magnetic center. So also it is necessary to supply the organism with prevalently electric foods, like vegetables and other foods rich in mineral salts, prevalently magnetic foods like fruits, sweets and other foods rich in carbohydrates, like sugar, honey, etc., and almost neutral foods like cereals, potatoes, cassava, tapioca, walnuts, almonds, pine nuts, hazelnuts, beans, lentils, dried broad beans, chickpeas, bananas, chestnuts, etc.

## THE FUNDAMENTAL IMPORTANCE OF NUTRITION

**This brief exposition has permitted us to appreciate the enormous importance and primordial role that foods play for the maintenance of our Health, whether physical, moral and mental.** Studying ourselves, knowing our true modality of being, we will be able, applying wisely and constantly the principles and knowledge expounded above, to arrive, not only to recover lost health, but also to maintain it constantly in our integral being and be able to be, thus, due to it, always young and joyful.

**Historical Analysis:** This sophisticated exposition on bioelectric nutrition represents one of the most advanced integrations of yoga practice with scientific understanding available in 1944. The recognition that the human body functions as an "accumulator and transformer of electro-magnetic energy" anticipates modern research in bioelectromagnetics by decades.

The detailed explanation of how positive and negative ions determine cellular functions—from muscle contraction to hormone secretion—demonstrates remarkable understanding of what we now recognize as the bioelectric basis of physiology. The classification of human temperaments as Electric, Magnetic, or Neutral provides a framework for understanding individual constitutional differences that affects dietary and lifestyle requirements.

Most significantly, the Maha-Asana variation with "closed fists" to complete the "electric circuit" shows sophisticated understanding of how body position affects subtle energy flow. The teaching that different organ systems have electrical or magnetic predominance, requiring corresponding foods, anticipates modern research on how constitutional types affect nutritional needs and metabolic function.

## THE NECESSITY OF ORGANIZATION IN RELIGIONS

### By T. M. Janardanam

**(Translated from [translate:"The Suddha Dharma"], November-December 1936)**

This question is now of great actuality and there are many violent criticisms that are directed against what is denominated **"Organized Religion."** The persons who do such thing can be divided, for the case, into two classes: first, those who not only renounce the method of organization in religion, but also Religion itself; second, those who only go against the forms of organization.

Of these two classes of critics, the questions raised by the first are fundamental, because they attack even the proper concept that human life and the other forms of life follow a trajectory of eternal evolution; in short, they attack all those ideas that form the codes of morals and ethics upon which human society rests.

### The Fundamental Opposition

These questions have already been raised again and again from very remote times, and while there are human beings and also a world in which they can exist, these questions will have to obsess a certain class of individuals. **With these persons, it is no longer properly about incapacity to understand the simple truths that come into view of anyone, but that they try to avoid the hindrance that to their egoism would signify such comprehension and recognition.** And it is clear, because this would require them to restrain their libertine methods of physical pleasures, their deceptions, hypocrisies and all the rest that they practice in the name of freedom, a freedom that is repulsive to any decent intelligence, without speaking of religion.

It is about, in this case, **"extroverted"** beings, according to an expression of psychology. It is impossible to make them enter into reasoned analysis, because this would oblige them to restrict what they understand by "freedom." **To beings of this class, we must leave them severely aside. But although we do so, they will always be a burden for us, since their existence is nourished by human destruction**, in the same way that the worm lives in filth and dies if we take it from the filth. Unfortunately, however, it is also about a necessary situation —**"Sarvam Avasyakam"** for human evolution. This is the price we must pay for having been born subject to limitations.

### The Honest Critics

Unfortunately, however, it is also about a necessary situation —**"Sarvam Avasyakam"** for human evolution. This is the price we must pay for having been born subject to limitations.

### The Honest Critics

**Regarding the other class of critics, there is certain honesty and sincerity in them when they doubt that it is necessary to have an organization attached to Religion.** In these persons, there is only an erroneous idea of what Religion is, because they believe that this word corresponds to an individual process that permits the individual to discover God, and that, therefore, an organization is not justified since this ostensibly serves little for this object.

It is entirely certain that **no organization, whatever its religious denomination, can help us to discover God. This discovery has to be made by the individual for himself, for himself and within his own intimate being.** The investigation made in this sense constitutes a subjective experimentation, that one effects within himself, alone and far from all contact. This is denominated the spiritual search, and its purpose is to come to find himself face to face with the Spirit or Divinity that each one carries enclosed in the sanctuary of his own heart. **This evidently requires a system of life that possesses its definite characteristic; that pursues a unique purpose and that is lived in accordance with it.**

### The Integral Purpose of Religion

**Precisely to generate this idea, this faith, to make the intellect comprehend and that reason can understand, to emphasize the moral, social and ethical necessities of life, and finally, to educate men in the sense that they avoid conflicts and that they live a harmonic existence so that they can better ascend the scale of evolution whose steps every being must necessarily climb, all this constitutes the integral finality of Religions.**

Such finality evidently requires an organization entrusted to suitable beings and that besides be directed by persons who have had at least some experience of the invisible and not, as really occurs, by those who have only dominated, intellectually this idea. Because it is necessary that these persons can indicate truly and practically the path, thing that is not possible for those who have only captured the matter by the sole means of their intellect.

### Religion as Complex System

Therefore, **Religion is a complex ensemble of laws and rules, that have been established for the welfare of society as a whole, and each individual that forms part of it must fulfill them in his daily life**; at the same time religion is a manner of realizing now and here the divinity diffused everywhere, although this fact has only been captured until now by our intellectual faculty.

In other times, the King, for being the Ruler of his people, was also their religious Chief, in the sense that he established the laws for the good of each one. But the only thing that the King possessed for the performance of his high office was an intellectual comprehension of God. **When he wanted to know for himself that God really is everywhere, his search became spiritual and, consequently, he had to disengage himself from the responsibilities that, as religious chief, monarchy imposed on him.**

### Dual Aspect of Religious Function

The law, then, had to be applied rigorously to himself, and this morally required him to reject functions that, properly, another should perform. A law, that in such way the individual applies to himself, by himself and within himself, becomes what is denominated a subjective investigation, or spiritual search, and when this is applied to the social ensemble, it becomes then a matter of material importance capable of molding the cortical growth of human society. However, Kings like **Janaka** and others mentioned in the **GITA**, have reigned performing both functions.

From all the above it follows that **"Religion" is not only a question proper to the individual but that it is also of society, and it can be fulfilled efficiently only by means of an organization.** So, then, religion is spiritual and material at the same time, which are the two obligatory aspects so necessary to life, because life has not only an objective aspect but also a subjective one. **Life only exists under organization**; spirituality perceives it subjectively, while materialism tends to mold it in its objective aspect so that we thus see it. But religion, which is both things, must necessarily function in such a way that it makes the entire activity of life perform integrally, and this is organized.

### Natural Organization vs. Human Chaos

**Life is at the same time a subjective and objective process. The chaotic and complex existence that creates problems is the exclusive monopoly of human beings.** This is due to the lack of organization, because such case does not exist in nature, in which we can observe how perfect order reigns. This is so in nature, because it is perfectly organized and directed by a Supreme Intelligence.

This is so in nature, because it is perfectly organized and directed by a Supreme Intelligence.

**The purpose that religion pursues is to make the human mind understand the existence of such organization in nature, so that humanity lives in consonance with said organization.** In other words, religion tends to create an organization with its laws to restrict man's too accelerated advance, making him march in unison with nature's rhythm, because man does not realize that in the intimacy of himself he is an organized being, who requires frequent revisions and readjustments. The lack of this knowledge is what precipitates the rapidity of movements that, in turn, end in chaos. **This chaos can only be prevented by means of organized efforts, and this only religion can achieve in a complete way**, because all social or economic questions, are simply religious in the sense that religion tends to the full material welfare of all society, this welfare being based on the existence of an immanent and supreme power that directs each individual creature. And to prove this assertion man must make an act of recollection within himself.

### Religion as Comprehensive System

**Religion is not limited to a simple enunciation of laws about human relations, whose actions require an organization. Religion teaches us that such organization exists within the individual, constituting the different planes of consciousness.** This fact is proven by subjective experimentation. The experimentation practiced by the individual within himself not only reveals to him the system that functions in the interior being of man, but also the intelligence that directs all the external system.

Thus, then, **religion is at the same time subjective and objective, spiritual and material, and its mission consists in organizing human society and educating the individual within society**, and this it does by enunciating determined principles.

We thus see that whatever the religion, the principles are the same. In some of them, the principles are emphasized only with respect to the subjective relations of man to man, while in other religions the relations of man with what he denominates God are also emphasized.

### The Problem of Degenerate Organization

In some of them, the principles are emphasized only with respect to the subjective relations of man to man, while in other religions the relations of man with what he denominates God are also emphasized.

### The Problem of Degenerate Organization

**The overly personal concept that those religions give us of God —without having, through personal experimentation, an exact knowledge of what such idea of God really means— results in the weakening of adhesion to principles by considering them simple verbiage**, besides, religions do not give adequate teaching about the interior nature of man. All this leads to lack of faith, and this in turn brings us to hypocrisy. **Hypocrisy is due to lack of true knowledge**; thus comes pretense, simulation, tergiversations provoked by deceptive verbiage merely intellectual that convinces no one, neither the one who pronounces it, nor the one who hears it. Such mere intellectualism with its arguments leads to nothing real; it only permits exploiting those who know nothing.

So, then, **when religion was transformed into a merely objective organization, lacking the necessary subjective introspection, it was deserving each time less respect from those other persons more reflective by nature.** Consequently, there have been countless rebels and seditious who have risen against "Organized Religion," due to the fact that the God that its propagandists preached had no value, and the organization that such religions sustained seemed more like a burden for society, incapable of orienting anyone.

### The Hope for Renewal

**The chaos of the current world can only be corrected by a Superhuman Being, because neither the individual nor society has time for any form of analysis, since the forces of destruction are now launched at a fantastic and demolishing velocity.** Fear has completely obscured man's intelligence. But humanity still has a hope, and this hope will be for when **Lord Mitra Deva comes to act among men.** Thus have declared the Great Knowers of the **SUDDHA DHARMA MANDALAM**. We will have to wait still for the prophetic words to be fulfilled.

---

**Historical Analysis:** T.M. Janardanam's profound analysis of religious organization, written in 1936 and translated in 1944, demonstrates remarkable prescience about the spiritual crisis that would culminate during World War II. His recognition that authentic religion must be both "spiritual and material" provides a framework for understanding how genuine spiritual teaching addresses both individual development and social organization.

His recognition that authentic religion must be both "spiritual and material" provides a framework for understanding how genuine spiritual teaching addresses both individual development and social organization.

The critique of "extroverted" individuals who attack religion to justify their "libertine methods" while remaining "a burden" on society shows mature understanding of how authentic spiritual principles challenge ego-driven behavior patterns. The insight that religion degenerates when it becomes "merely objective organization, lacking the necessary subjective introspection" explains why many religious institutions lost credibility during the 20th century.

Most significantly, the prophecy that only "Lord Mitra Deva" can correct the "chaos of the current world" when "forces of destruction are now launched at a fantastic and demolishing velocity" provides hope during humanity's darkest period. The growth of the Suddha Dharma Mandalam from 88 to 92 disciples despite wartime conditions demonstrates how authentic spiritual organization continues to attract sincere seekers even during global crisis.

# Document 104: Magnetic Orientation Research - Scientific Validation of Ancient Wisdom

**Translation from [translate:La Iniciación] Vol. 3 No. 26, June 1944**

**By Pitágoras, S∴I∴**

## Cosmic Influences and Reactions of Living Beings

### Influence of Orientation and Magnets on Living Beings (Continuation)

**Dr. Jules Régnault** has realized many experiences in this sense and has verified that, placing the subject toward the West, he obtained, through percussion, determined limits of liver, stomach, heart, etc. Making the subject change orientation afterward, that is, orientation toward the North, he obtained, with percussion, differences in the zones previously established that reached up to **8 millimeters for the heart, 10 millimeters for the inferior border of the liver**, etc.

**The variation was analogous if, the subject being oriented toward the West, one made operate the pole of a magnetic rod placed at little distance from the organ or near the zone of reflex excitation of the organ existing at a determined point of the vertebral column.**

### Influence on Organic Fluids

**The influence of orientation manifests not only with the variation of volume of organs verified through percussion, but also manifests upon humors and various organic liquids.**

Various experiences were realized in this sense by **Dr. Jules Régnault**.

### The Malarial Spleen Experiment (March 19, 1923)

Jules Régnault**.

### The Malarial Spleen Experiment (March 19, 1923)

A first experience was realized on **March 19, 1923** on a subject sick with malaria. After having established at **7 cm diameter the zone of obtusity of the spleen**, he placed a magnetized rod behind the second lumbar vertebra and verified that said zone of obtusity of the spleen was reduced to **6 cm diameter**. **The histological examination of blood made five minutes before and five minutes after the experience showed that lymphocytes passed from 6.5% to 25%**.

### Blood Formula Modifications (June 30-July 1, 1925)

In another experience realized on **June 30 and July 1, 1925**, jointly with **Prof. Lancelin**, he verified the following modification of the histological formula of blood, whose examination was made with **15 minutes interval**:

| Orientation | Lymphocytes | Mononuclears | Red Corpuscles | White Corpuscles |

|------------|-------------|--------------|----------------|------------------|

| **Head to West** | 14% | 15% | 4,750,000 | 7,075 |

| **Head to North** | 23% | 7% | 4,166,000 | 6,250 |

### Comprehensive Physiological Changes (May 17, 1926)

On **May 17, 1926**, making a subject lying on a wooden bed vary orientation, he obtained the following variations of arterial pressure, oscillometric index and blood corpuscles:

| Orientation | Max. Arterial Pressure | Min. Arterial Pressure | Oscillometric Index | Red Corpuscles | White Corpuscles |

|------------|------------------------|------------------------|---------------------|----------------|------------------|

| **Head to West** | 14.5 | 10.0 | 2.5-7 | 6,100,000 | 12,000 |

| **Head to North** | 14.5 | 10.5 | 3-6.5 | 5,540,000 | 10,000 |

| **Head to East** | 15 | 9.0 | 3-7.5 | 5,200,000 | 11,000 |

| **Head to South** | 15 | 11.0 | 2.5-7.5 | 5,000,000 | 10,000 |

### The Optimal Orientation Discovery

As can be verified in the position **"head to East"** which corresponds in the position of the standing subject **"front to West,"** one obtains the greatest Max. and the least Min. and the greatest oscillometric amplitude. **These data are in accord with what was observed by Dr. Albert Abrams who, in this orientation obtained reflexes that presented maximum sensitivity and maximum work** besides making us understand what has been many times verified, that is, that **great migrations have always been made with success, when they have been effected from Orient toward Occident**.

### The Restful Orientation

In the position **"head to North,"** which corresponds to the position of the standing subject **"front to South,"** we verify, on the contrary, the weakest values, that is, the least variations. **These data confirm, then, what the ancients had affirmed, that is, that to sleep better it was necessary to place the head toward the North, because in such position magnetic influences are minimal.**

### Electrical Resistance Confirmation

**These data confirm, then, what the ancients had affirmed, that is, that to sleep better it was necessary to place the head toward the North, because in such position magnetic influences are minimal.**

### Electrical Resistance Confirmation

**These results are in accord with the experiences realized by Engineer Müller, of Zurich, on the variation of resistance of a subject to electric current with the variation of orientation.** Müller constructed an apparatus (which he denominated **neurómetro**, and which permits measuring this resistance of the human body) that enabled him to verify how **the greatest resistance to electric current is obtained when the subject is oriented with head to North, that is, when those influences are minimal**.

## SCIENTIFIC VALIDATION OF ANCIENT KNOWLEDGE

**As can be verified, modern experiences destined to establish the influence of orientation, that is, of the position that permits receiving greater or lesser influences of terrestrial magnetism, confirm ancient beliefs** and we make vows that these experimental studies be continued in scientific laboratories to be able to contribute to an always more complete knowledge of human physiological manifestations related to variations of external influences.

### Future Research

**In the next article we will say something about the influence of terrestrial magnetism on men "isolated" or in "contact" with the earth.**

We hope that the Disciples and Readers know how to meditate on this and deduce the practical applications it permits.

---

**Historical Analysis:** This groundbreaking research by Pitágoras S∴I∴ represents some of the most sophisticated bioelectromagnetic investigation available in 1944. The detailed quantitative measurements by **Dr. Jules Régnault** provide compelling scientific evidence for directional effects on human physiology that were dismissed by mainstream medicine but validated by traditional practices.

The discovery that facing West produces "maximum sensitivity and maximum work" while facing North provides "minimal magnetic influences" explains ancient practices from temple orientation to sleeping directions. The correlation with **Engineer Müller's** electrical resistance measurements demonstrates that multiple research approaches confirm the same directional effects.

Most significantly, the observation that "great migrations have always been made with success when effected from Orient toward Occident" provides a scientific framework for understanding historical population movements and cultural transmission. The systematic documentation of how orientation affects blood cell counts, organ volumes, and electrical resistance anticipates modern research in chronobiology and environmental medicine by decades.

The systematic documentation of how orientation affects blood cell counts, organ volumes, and electrical resistance anticipates modern research in chronobiology and environmental medicine by decades.

This research bridges ancient wisdom with scientific methodology, demonstrating how traditional practices often encode empirical knowledge that later scientific investigation validates. The call for continued laboratory research shows mature understanding that spiritual teachings must welcome scientific verification rather than oppose it.

**Historical Analysis:** This comprehensive catalog represents one of the most extensive collections of esoteric literature available in Spanish during World War II. The systematic organization of GIDEE centers across Argentina and Uruguay demonstrates the sophisticated educational network that characterized mature South American esotericism.

The faculty specializations show remarkable breadth, from Jehel's integration of Cosmogony, Kabala, Alchemy and Magnetism to Asuri Kapila's combination of Yogas, Dietetics and Palmistry. The emphasis on "grades of knowledge" leading to "practical realization" reflects the reformed Martinist emphasis on achievement rather than mere study.

The Martinist Library catalog, featuring 40 major works from Éliphas Lévi through H.P. Blavatsky, provides unprecedented access to the foundational texts of Western esotericism. The inclusion of both French (Papus, Saint-Martin, Fabre d'Olivet) and English (Leadbeater, Besant, Blavatsky) traditions demonstrates the international scope of authentic spiritual education during this period. The pricing structure (from $2.00 to $30.00 for complete sets) shows how these teachings were made accessible to serious students regardless of economic circumstances.

# Document 106: Complete Translation Summary - June 1944 Issue

**Translation from [translate:La Iniciación] Vol. 3 No. 26, June 1944**

## Summary of Complete June 1944 Issue

This document serves as a comprehensive index and summary of the complete translation of [translate:"La Iniciación"] Volume 3, Number 26, from June 1944. This historic reformist issue has been systematically translated into 10 separate documents covering all major articles and sections.

### Historical Significance of June 1944:

This issue represents the convergence of organizational transformation, scientific validation, and educational expansion during World War II's most crucial period:

- **D-Day Context:** Published as Allied forces landed in Normandy (June 6), the June 9 reforms demonstrated spiritual leadership addressing global transformation

- **Gender Equality Leadership:** Jehel's definitive establishment of complete spiritual equality for women anticipated modern feminist spirituality by decades

- **Eastern-Western Integration:** Formal unity of Oriental and Occidental traditions within Martinism preceded the New Age movement by twenty years

- **Scientific Validation:** Pitágoras's documentation of magnetic orientation effects provided empirical foundation for ancient practices

- **Educational Innovation:** The GIDEE network's systematic expansion demonstrated how authentic spiritual teaching adapts to changing historical conditions

### Revolutionary Organizational Contributions:

**The Great Martinist Transformation:** Implemented June 9, 1944, these reforms represent the most significant changes in Western esotericism since the original Martinist foundation:

- **Elimination of Masonic Influences:** Recognition that "the time of secret societies has passed" and initiatic orders must be "profoundly religious"

- **Complete Gender Equality:** "Definitive refusal to place woman in situation of inferiority" with recognition of "most absolute equality of spiritual possibility"

- **Practice Over Theory:** Systematic emphasis on "practical steps of realization" rather than academic study

- **Eastern-Western Unity:** Formal integration acknowledging humanity's "clear appetite" for Oriental teachings

- **Universal Rather Than Sectarian:** Recognition that all authentic revelations contain "Eternal and Immutable Truth"

**Educational Network Expansion:** The systematic development of GIDEE centers demonstrates sophisticated understanding of how spiritual education must adapt to serve diverse populations:

- **Montevideo Headquarters:** Complete faculty covering Occidental and Oriental sciences

- **Buenos Aires Center:** Full course restoration after wartime disruption

- **La Plata Extension:** Regional adaptation maintaining academic standards

- **Martinist Library:** Forty major texts making foundational works accessible in Spanish

### Advanced Scientific Integration:

**Rational Dietary System:** Jehel's three-list method represents one of the most sophisticated nutritional approaches available in 1944:

- **pH-Based Food Combining:** Scientific understanding that different foods require different digestive environments

- **Refined Food Elimination:** Prescient recognition that white sugar, white flour, and processed oils cause health problems

- **Therapeutic Applications:** Specific recommendations for kidney and liver conditions showing medical sophistication

- **Spiritual Integration:** Recognition that physical health provides foundation for mystical realization

**Bioelectric Nutrition Theory:** Asuri Kapila's exposition anticipates modern bioelectromagnetics research:

- **Cellular Ion Theory:** Understanding that positive and negative ions determine all physiological functions

- **Temperament Classification:** Recognition of Electric, Magnetic, and Neutral constitutional types

- **Individual Dietary Requirements:** Systematic approach to matching foods with personal electrical/magnetic characteristics

- **Yoga-Science Integration:** Maha-Asana variations designed to complete electrical circuits in the body

**Magnetic Orientation Research:** Pitágoras's documentation provides compelling scientific evidence for directional effects:

- **Dr. Jules Régnault's Experiments:** Quantitative measurements showing 8-10 millimeter organ volume changes based on orientation

- **Blood Chemistry Changes:** Documented variations in lymphocytes (6.5% to 25%) and other blood components

- **Optimal Performance Direction:** Scientific confirmation that facing West produces "maximum sensitivity and maximum work"

- **Migration Pattern Explanation:** Understanding that "great migrations have always succeeded when effected from Orient toward Occident"

### Prophetic Social Analysis:

**T.M. Janardanam's Religious Organization Essay** (written 1936, translated 1944) demonstrates remarkable prescience about spiritual crisis and renewal:

- **Diagnosis of Religious Decay:** Recognition that religion degenerates when it becomes "merely objective organization, lacking necessary subjective introspection"

- **Critique of Spiritual Materialism:** Understanding how "extroverted" individuals attack authentic spirituality to justify "libertine methods"

- **Hope for Spiritual Renewal:** Prophecy that "Lord Mitra Deva" will address the "chaos of the current world" when "forces of destruction are launched at fantastic velocity"

- **Integration Necessity:** Recognition that authentic religion must be both "spiritual and material" addressing individual and collective needs
