The Discovery: A Lone Wanderer's First Glimpse
Introduction to the Sacred Synthesis Archives

The year is 2100. I am walking through the ruins of what was once called Portland, though the old city names mean little now. Moss-covered towers reach toward a sky unmarked by contrails, their glass facades long since surrendered to the climbing embrace of wild grapevines. The streets, where discernible beneath decades of fallen leaves and sprouting saplings, curve around groves of fruit trees whose ancestors must once have been mere decorative plantings in someone's corporate plaza.

In this landscape of beautiful ruin and abundant recovery, I am searching. Not for food or shelter - my enclave provides those basics well enough. I am searching for answers to questions that haunt our quiet new world: What happened to the billions? Why did the great cities empty? What force was powerful enough to transform human civilization so completely that it left behind only scattered communities living simply among the returning forests?

The Archive Beneath

It was the solar panels that caught my attention first - old photovoltaic arrays still gleaming dully through the canopy of vine maple that had grown up around them. They were arranged in a pattern too deliberate to be accidental, too purposeful to have been abandoned. Following the power lines beneath the vegetation, I discovered what had once been a data center, its reinforced concrete walls now serving as foundation for a garden of volunteers - blackberry canes, wild roses, and the ever-present Douglas fir saplings reaching for light. The heavy security door, designed to keep intruders out, had long since been propped open by root systems.
Nature, it seemed, had accomplished what no hacker ever could. But inside, somehow, the essential systems still hummed with quiet energy. Backup power, distributed storage, redundant systems - whoever had built this place had intended it to last.

And in the depths of that fortified sanctuary, protected by steel and stone and time, I found them: thousands of documents, images, videos, and recordings that told the story of something called the Sacred Synthesis.
Materials that chronicled not just the collapse I had always assumed had befallen the old world, but its transformation into something unprecedented.
