Sacred Synthesis is written as history — dated events, named participants, an underground network, a global transformation — and it is fiction, by the intent of its author and by editorial ruling. Everything else in this reader is what it claims to be: Boethius in the Friedlein text, the Sacred Books of the East in Müller's series, L'Initiation as Papus printed it. This book is the one thing here that is not, and it should be read as the argument it is rather than as the chronicle it imitates. The practices it describes are real and are held elsewhere in this archive with their own sources; the world it describes them saving is not.
1The Formula: "Constantly being relaxed" (the ongoing instruction in highest meditations) does NOT mean muscular relaxation but rather "the conscious emptiness of Mind" which produces "a deep State of complete relaxation, while the body becomes covered by an ethereal body of Light that is clearly felt as a tingling warmth in the skin, especially in the soles of the feet and in the palms of the hands". Often, this is an overwhelming static electric sensation that is now understood as the sign of enlightenment approaching. In actuality, this overwhelming intensity is unintegrated divine energy. When this same energy becomes integrated through permanent relaxation, it transforms from: Unintegrated: - Fatigue-producing - Tension-creating - Spasm-inducing - Sometimes overwhelming Integrated: - Bliss-producing - Energy-enhancing - Stability-creating - Permanently sustainable The energy doesn't decrease - it intensifies - but your relationship to it completely transforms.
