A SPECULATIVE CHRONICLE, NOT A RECORD. Sacred Synthesis is written as history — dated events, named participants, an underground network, a global transformation — and it is fiction, by the intent of its author and by editorial ruling. Everything else in this reader is what it claims to be: Boethius in the Friedlein text, the Sacred Books of the East in Müller's series, L'Initiation as Papus printed it. This book is the one thing here that is not, and it should be read as the argument it is rather than as the chronicle it imitates. The practices it describes are real and are held elsewhere in this archive with their own sources; the world it describes them saving is not.
1Learning as Liberation Student Governance Children making school decisions, young people having voice in curriculum, assessment, and school organization. Project-Based Learning Real work not abstract exercises, learning through doing real work that benefited community. Nature Classroom Majority of time outdoors, education happening in direct relationship with natural systems. Community Teachers Everyone sharing expertise, any community member able to teach what they understood. Higher Education Evolution Open Knowledge Research freely shared, scientific discoveries shared globally rather than patented and privatized. Community Partnership Academia serving localities, universities and research institutions serving community needs rather than external interests. Indigenous Integration Traditional knowledge as valid, indigenous knowledge recognized as legitimate alongside Western academic knowledge. Student Democracy Learners controlling institutions, students having voice in university governance and direction. Practical Philosophy Wisdom applied not abstracted, philosophy teaching how to live wisely rather than abstract theorizing. Lifelong Learning Elder Universities Wisdom holders teaching, elders sharing lifetime of learning with younger generations. Skill Exchanges Continuous capability building, communities continuously developing new skills and deepening existing ones. Cultural Education Learning from all traditions, studying wisdom from every cultural and spiritual tradition. Spiritual Development Consciousness as curriculum, systematic development of higher capacities and consciousness. Death Education Preparing for transition, explicit education about death and dying as natural life transition.
