**Historical Note:** This February 1944 issue marks a pivotal moment with Jehel's comprehensive annual report revealing the Martinist Order's remarkable 31% growth despite wartime challenges. The issue advances the sophisticated study of human constitution from nine to seven elements, provides complete instruction in the ten-posture Maha-Surya-Pranasana yoga sequence, and presents profound dietary wisdom from the Bhagavad Gita classifying foods as Sattivic (pure), Rajasic (passionate), or Tamasic (ignorant). The inclusion of detailed spiritual experiences from Suddha Dharma Mandalam practitioners demonstrates the advanced level of mystical attainment being achieved by serious disciples, while Asuri Kapila's devotional poetry [translate:"La Oración de las Manos"] celebrates the sacred power of healing hands throughout spiritual traditions.

## Report of the President of the Grand Council of the Martinist Order of South America

### Venerable Brothers:

I designate you thus, without distinguishing functions or degrees, since what truly matters is that we be venerable brothers, that is, venerable by our own veneration for the Ideal, for the Masters and for ourselves, which our acts and our activity authenticate. The rest is secondary.

The year 1943 has ended. I owe you the customary annual report. I will be extremely concise, since everything I might have to say of importance on the initiatic plane is something I prefer not to write, but rather to try to live it and to have you live it with me.

### Administrative Accomplishments

I owe you the customary annual report. I will be extremely concise, since everything I might have to say of importance on the initiatic plane is something I prefer not to write, but rather to try to live it and to have you live it with me.

### Administrative Accomplishments

During 1943, the Grand Council has worked much. The protocol shows us the reception or dispatch of some **two thousand documents during the year**, almost six per day, and you know that many of them are long letters of instructions, teachings or organizational questions. Brother Pitágoras and I have attended to the greater part.

The temporal administration of the Order has rested entirely upon the inexhaustible activity of Brother Surya, and despite the natural difficulties of an Order of relatively new organization, in full growth, the balance that will be published opportunely shows how that Brother knew how to admirably balance the budget, maintaining the Magazine in progress, the GIDEE and all the other realizations. The financial effort has been enormous and I must make particular mention of the spirit of sacrifice of the Martinist Members of GIDEE and sympathizers of Uruguay and Buenos Aires who have been admirable from every point of view.

### Numerical Growth: 31%

**The numerical growth of the Order during the year has been 31% in what refers to the number of members it had at the end of 1943.** Additionally, various Delegations and Corporations were created in diverse countries of the Continent. From this particular point of view, things have proceeded normally.

### Cultural Realizations

The realizations of cultural character that the Order has succeeded in making effective, directly or indirectly, were various and beautiful:

- **Creation of "GIDEE" in La Plata and in Buenos Aires** (autonomous, but born from the Martinist impulse)

- **Translation and publication of various fundamental works** of great Martinists: Eliphas Levi, Sédir, Sévaka and others, whose translations were made by Martinist Brothers and Sisters who, even while having to attend to all the activities of their family, professional and social life, found will and time to make them with great affection

### Spiritual Results of Corporate Work

The work of the Martinist Corporations in general has been characterized by greater regularity of attendance, by more methodical study and by beautiful results that can be classified in the following manner:

**a)** More tolerance, more affinity, more union among the Members.

**b)** More "contact" with Providential orientation and more devotion.

**c)** The natural results of the two previous points: **Rare books have arrived to those who needed them, persons who suffered in one way or another have been often marvelously helped by the heart of the Martinists and their sincere prayers to the Providential Plane.**

### The Collective Spiritual State

The Martinist collectivity is, therefore, in a vibratory state that can be qualified as "better" than a year ago. And if we have not yet totally lost that discipline of the mind that prevents us from always acting with the serenity that Discipleship needs, if we cannot yet abandon the old profane custom of some small intolerance or mental criticism of our fellow beings, it is indisputable that **"we are walking"** toward a greater possibility of finding ourselves in conditions to receive ever more consciously the orientation of the venerable Masters, to open our hearts to all feeling of our fellow beings and to become ever more effectively **Beings of Desire, of realization of the Superior Will and of irradiation of Love**.

### Prophetic Vision for 1944

I do not believe it necessary to add more than the following: **1944 is a great year, it is the year that all the true Fraternities have been waiting for a long time as the one that must "change the vibratory tone" of very many beings and permit more comprehension among men. It will also be the end of the great fratricidal physical trial. But the MORAL trial will continue.**

We will live in the midst of it and will feel the "shock" of the change. Let us prepare to be, in that suffering humanity, but which **RETURNS TOWARD FAITH**, modest but active messengers of the Divine Message of Meekness, Peace, Harmony, Cooperation and Love.

### Sacred Closing

**AUM et AMEN**

**Jehel, P∴G∴C∴**

**31-12-1943**

---

**Historical Analysis:** This remarkable document captures a pivotal moment in both global and esoteric history. Writing on December 31, 1943, Jehel demonstrates extraordinary prescience about 1944 marking the end of World War II's "fratricidal physical trial" while correctly predicting the coming "moral trial" of the post-war period. The 31% growth rate during wartime indicates the genuine spiritual hunger that drove people toward esoteric teachings during humanity's darkest hour. The emphasis on practical mystical results—rare books appearing for those who needed them, prayers answered for suffering individuals—demonstrates the pragmatic spirituality characteristic of mature initiatic organizations. Most significantly, Jehel's prediction that 1944 would "change the vibratory tone of very many beings" and bring "more comprehension among men" as humanity "returns toward faith" proved remarkably accurate, as the war's end indeed marked a spiritual turning point for global civilization.

## Commentaries on the First Degree of Martinism

### Androgony (Continuation)

### Human Constitution with 7 Elements

In the previous articles we saw the beautiful teachings with which Master **PAPUS** made us understand why the human being is fundamentally a **TRI-UNITY** (Unity in three aspects and three unconsciouses synthesized by one conscious). We also saw how, technically, that same human being can be divided into 9 parts that constitute 3 series that interpenetrate in the form demonstrated by the tables published previously.

### The Carriage Analogy

Starting from such a base, Master Papus once made an analogical comparison of the human being with a carriage in movement:

**a) (Spirit)** Coachman with his three known planes (head, arms, trunk).

**b) (Life)** Horse with his three constituent parts (Head, body, legs).

**c) (Body)** Carriage with his three component parts (Box, wheels, shafts).

But, when the coachman gets in the carriage, the "heavy" part of the coachman sits upon the seat and unites with it (**Spiritual in the physical**) and also said coachman takes the reins of the horse and thus unites the head of the horse to the arms of the coachman. (**Nervous force in the chest**).

We have thus, that, of the nine preexisting elements, practically seven remain. This is what has given birth to all the "septenary" theories of the constitution of man, who really "functions in 7 modalities."

## CONSTITUTION OF MAN

### Ternary Nomenclature

| **NAMES GIVEN BY THE SCHOOLS:** | **TO THE SPIRIT** | **TO LIFE** | **TO THE BODY** |

|---|---|---|---|

| **Occultists** | Spirit, or Soul (Inspirations. Glorious Body) | Life or Unconscious (Passions). Astral Body or Perispirit | Physical Body (Necessities) |

| **Hebrew Tradition** | Necshamah | Ruach | Gaph |

### Comparative School Terminology

To prevent our students from falling into confusion when reading the texts of various schools, we will give the correspondence of terms of the principal ones, according to tables that Master Papus had organized:

| **SCHOOL** | **SPIRIT** | **LIFE** | **BODY** |

|---|---|---|---|

| **Christian Mystics** | Soul | Spirit | Body |

| **Ancient Philosophy** | Nous | Psyche | Soma |

| **Modern Philosophy** | Reason | Sentiment | Sensation |

| **Kabbalah** | Necshamah | Ruach | Gaph |

| **Hindu (Vedanta)** | Atma | Jiva | Sharira |

| **Theosophists** | Atma | Kama-Manas | Sthula Sharira |

With these tables it is impossible to make mistakes and it becomes easy to follow the teachings of one school or another and to verify if the terms are properly employed in their writings.

### The Mental Principle: The Fifth Element

### The Mental Principle: The Fifth Element

We saw, then, that that human being constituted by 9 elements results septenary: 3 superior, 3 middle and 3 inferior. We also saw that the third and fifth fuse during terrestrial existence. That fifth principle, we also saw is called **"THAN"** in Chinese, **"MANAS"** in Sanskrit and the Latins called it **"MENS"**. It is the famous Mind, the mental or "reason."

### The Domain of Logic and Error

Now well, Master **PAPUS** SAYS:

> [translate:"El plano mental es el dominio de la 'Lógica' por excelencia, y, por lo tanto del error. En el ser humano lo único verdadero y vivo es el corazón. Es pues por él que vivimos realmente y no por el cerebro."]

*"The mental plane is the domain of 'Logic' par excellence, and, therefore of error. In the human being the only true and living thing is the heart. It is thus by it that we really live and not by the brain. Moreover it was thus, before the Adamic fall. But man wanted to show that he was 'Someone'—when really he was nothing by himself and everything came to him from God—. Then, the mental took preponderance over everything else and the human Regime (regime in the mechanical sense) or the 'hominal' Kingdom became demonized. Such is then the origin of the mental plane, which is almost nothing for the universe, although it represents so much for us. For this reason we do not fear to affirm that, everything that comes exclusively from the mental is false and illusory. The use of 'logic' can, consequently, lead us only to say nonsense, as you will see when we arrive at the question of 'alimentary regimes.'"*

### The Three Classes of Nourishment

### The Regime and the Renovation of Cells

*"In first place, what are the foods from which we can maintain our life? Well, they are of three species and I will make you note that, generally we forget two of them.*

*People sit at the table three times per day in the center and north of France, five times in England and a dozen times in the meridional countries, but all that is not enormous compared to what is done some twenty times per minute: —breathing— and with what is done a thousand times per minute: —the perception of sensations.*

*Thus, then, we use three species of foods:*

**The first** comprises the solid or liquid foods ingested by the stomach.

**The second**, the air that is breathed.

**The third**, the sensations.

### The Triple Nourishment System

Each one of those three things nourishes an essential part of our individuality. Consequently, if you forget atmospheric air and sensations in foods, you can apparently reason with much logic in matters of alimentary regimes, but everything you say in matters of theories will be incomplete and even erroneous.

Consequently, if you forget atmospheric air and sensations in foods, you can apparently reason with much logic in matters of alimentary regimes, but everything you say in matters of theories will be incomplete and even erroneous.

It is necessary to remember also that alimentation must be different according to the being to which it is destined and according to the environment in which said being must act or live. Thus, for example, one will raise a little dog with a little atmospheric air, some bones, some vegetables and the sensation of whip if it dirties the apartment. But such a regime would not suffice to develop man since it is necessary to give him the education that characterizes his environment.

### The Three Environmental Correspondences

Well: **the social medium of the individual derives from his sensations; the pulmonary medium, from the air he breathes and the physical medium from the foods he absorbs.**

**(To be continued)**

---

**Note:** This sophisticated anthropological teaching demonstrates how Papus integrated multiple wisdom traditions into a coherent system for understanding human constitution. The carriage analogy provides an accessible metaphor for complex metaphysical concepts, while the comparative terminology table enables students to study across different schools without confusion. The revolutionary insight that "the mental plane is the domain of error" and that "everything that comes exclusively from the mental is false and illusory" challenges the rationalist assumptions of modern civilization, pointing toward a heart-centered approach to truth. The recognition of three types of nourishment—food, air, and sensations—anticipates modern understanding of environmental psychology and holistic health approaches.

# Document 64: Practical Course in Judicial Astrology - Venus

**Translation from [translate:La Iniciación] Vol. 3 No. 22, February 1944**

**Teachings of Surya, S∴I∴**

## Practical Course in Judicial Astrology

Already studied: Saturn, Jupiter, Mars and the Sun, let us continue in the cosmic and magical order and thus comes the turn of:

### VENUS

Says **J. BURGOYNE**, the Rosicrucian and Author of [translate:"La Luz de Egipto"] "The Light of Egypt," cited by **PAPUS**:

*"Under its mythological and symbolic aspect, the planet Venus has been venerated throughout the entire world in its double character of love and wisdom. The brilliant star of dawn, the proud Lucifer, was the precursor and genius of wisdom and, really, none of the stars of heaven can rival the splendor of the glory of Venus when it shines, as herald of the day. It is also remarkable as goddess of love. The ancient Greeks also represented it under the figure of Aphrodite, displaying the horns of the Bull."*

### Kabbalistic Significance

Kabbalistically, the planet Venus signifies the element Love in the soul of the Great archetypal Man and it is for this reason that it represents the "loving" sense in incarnate humanity. Therefore, it expresses the adherent, fecundating, feminine part of human constitution.

On the esoteric planisphere, Venus becomes the celestial **Anael**, prince of the astral light. In that quality we perceive its faculties of transformation and of "conservation of forces." Considered as **Isis**, it represents the astral fluid in state of repose, gestating (by work of the Holy Spirit) FUTURE things; **Anael** represents the same fluid in movement. For this reason the Moon and Venus are the kabbalistic symbols of the two modes of movement in the soul of the universe.

### Astrological Influence

Astrologically considered, it can be said that Venus represents joy, bliss and sociability and that its influence also inclines those whom it directs, toward the search for pleasure and great ostentation. Mundane pleasures are especially governed by Venus; dances, concerts, meetings and receptions possess invincible attraction for those who have been born with strong Venusian influence.

If Venus is ill disposed in a feminine horoscope, receiving strong unfavorable rays, the individual becomes "unhappy" and suffers the loss of virtue, it being for this reason very important the position of Venus.

### Intellectual Influence

On the Intellectual plane, Venus rules the superior group of domestic qualities and also the idealistic, artistic and musical sentiments. Those who are under its dominion have vocation for music, art and poetry, becoming notable for the perfection of their realizations. But, simultaneously, they lack true moral force and are involuntarily directed by their sentiments, their passions and their desires. Their reason disappears when their desires are ignited. From there is born, for such beings, the danger of being disturbed by flattery, and by the lack of common sense in sentimental matters, which becomes very great when Venus does not receive harmonious rays from other planets.

### Physical Influence

From there is born, for such beings, the danger of being disturbed by flattery, and by the lack of common sense in sentimental matters, which becomes very great when Venus does not receive harmonious rays from other planets.

### Physical Influence

On the Physical plane, when Venus dominates principally over the spirit of the individual, it will frequently mark predilection toward the social, inclining to dance, music, drawing, etc. It also dominates good humor, and grants a gracious, amiable and charitable spiritual disposition. Men who have this influence are always great favorites of the fair sex, but they completely lack firmness and self-control so that, if Venus is "malefic" in their theme, they will find themselves frequently in difficult situations and can fall with facility into licentiousness and orgy.

### Martinist Astrological Teaching

The Martinist Astrologer **JULEVNO** teaches us that **VENUS**:

> [translate:"Gobierna la garganta, los ovarios, el mentón, las mejillas, las venas y los órganos internos de la generación; el amor, el afecto, la cabellera y la tez. Siendo muy húmeda y mediocremente cálida, ella preside a la voluptuosidad, al gusto, al olfato, a la facultad de digestión y se le debe consultar sobre los favores de los grandes o de los superiores, sobre el matrimonio y los amores."]

*"Governs the throat, the ovaries, the chin, the cheeks, the veins and the internal organs of generation; love, affection, hair and complexion. Being very humid and moderately warm, it presides over voluptuousness, taste, smell, the faculty of digestion and it should be consulted about favors of the great or of superiors, about marriage and loves. It also designates all sentimental matters, feminine relations and pleasures."*

### Venus Well and Ill Disposed

**THE INFLUENCE OF VENUS WELL DISPOSED IN THE THEME** makes the person jovial, amiable, virtuous, of agreeable and benign conversation, charming, gentle and to whom healthy pleasures will be very pleasing, dance and theater, always having tendency to jealousy.

**VENUS ILL DISPOSED IN THE THEME** will signify an inconstant, lustful person, who can arrive at being libidinous, lying and not recommendable under many aspects.

### Physical Characteristics of Venusians

**THE TYPICAL VENUSIANS** are of stature more or less superior to the median of their race or family, having clear, soft, pinkish complexion, with red lips and small and well-drawn mouth. The hair is beautiful, abundant, long, the hair being generally fine and with natural ondulation, not straight nor rigid. The forehead is round, the eyebrows pretty and arched. The eyes are generally chestnut, and always of luminous and expressive gaze; the nose somewhat wide, becomes round in its lower part. The waist is well formed and the bearing harmonious, elegant. Generally the hips are pronounced and the foot small in relation to stature. The Venusians have tendency to walk with the knees turned inward.

### Contemporary Examples

The waist is well formed and the bearing harmonious, elegant. Generally the hips are pronounced and the foot small in relation to stature. The Venusians have tendency to walk with the knees turned inward.

### Contemporary Examples

For observation of our students we will point out some persons from our collectivity with Venusian influence:

**Born in Venusian signs:** Asuri Kapila, Leona Constantia, Lorelair, Ragón, Giordano.

### Characteristic Trait

We will add that a characteristic that permits identifying the person who has strong influence of Venus, is the search to "please" others through amiability, expansiveness, etc... spontaneous and sincere or recherché and calculated, according to the proportion of good aspects that the horoscope theme contains under which they have morally merited to be born.

In the next article, we will study Mercury.

**(To be continued)**

---

**Note:** This sophisticated astrological analysis demonstrates the integration of multiple traditions within Martinist teaching. The reference to Venus as "the proud Lucifer" shows the non-dualistic understanding of light and dark forces as aspects of divine manifestation rather than moral opposites. The inclusion of contemporary practitioners as examples (Asuri Kapila, Leona Constantia, etc.) shows the practical application of astrological knowledge within the community. The emphasis on Venus governing both sacred love (wisdom) and profane pleasure illustrates the esoteric understanding that all planetary forces contain both higher and lower expressions depending on the spiritual development of the individual.

# Document 65: Complete Maha-Surya-Pranasana - Ten Posture Yoga Sequence

**Translation from [translate:La Iniciación] Vol. 3 No. 22, February 1944**

**By Asuri Kapila, S∴I∴**

## Progressive Course in Asana Yoga (Continuation)

### MAHA-SURYA-PRANASANA

### TECHNIQUE OF THE SIXTH POSTURE: NAGA-ASANA

The sixth posture whose name means [translate:"postura de la serpiente"] "posture of the serpent," is practiced in the following manner:

Being in the fifth posture, extend the arms at the same time that one inspires slowly and deeply, then throw the head backward as if one wanted to look at the sun exactly as No. 6 of Fig. 17 indicates.

#### Benefits of the Sixth Posture:

**1)** Development of the muscles of the chest, arm and neck.

**2)** Slow and progressive disappearance of abdominal adipose deposit.

**3)** Correction of hepatic and digestive insufficiencies.

**4)** Development of the muscles of the thighs, legs and feet.

**5)** Tonification of the tonsils.

### TECHNIQUE OF THE SEVENTH POSTURE: HASTIPADA-ASANA

**2)** Slow and progressive disappearance of abdominal adipose deposit.

**3)** Correction of hepatic and digestive insufficiencies.

**4)** Development of the muscles of the thighs, legs and feet.

**5)** Tonification of the tonsils.

### TECHNIQUE OF THE SEVENTH POSTURE: HASTIPADA-ASANA

Being in the preceding posture and still retaining the inspired breath, place the head, neck and shoulders on the same line, trying to make the weight of the body rest on the hands and toes. Then lift the shoulders and waist placing the head between the arms, touch the chest with the chin and contract the stomach. No. 7 of Fig. 17 shows this posture clearly. The name of this posture means [translate:"posición de la montaña"] "position of the mountain."

#### Benefits of the Seventh Posture:

**1)** Development of the muscles of the forearms, arms, back.

**2)** Development of the muscles of the thighs, legs and pelvic girdle.

**3)** Development of the muscles of the abdomen.

### TECHNIQUES OF POSTURES EIGHT, NINE, AND TEN

**TECHNIQUE OF THE EIGHTH POSTURE:** The eighth posture is exactly the repetition of the third (See No. 3 of Fig. 16) and the beneficial effects are logically the same as that one.

**TECHNIQUE OF THE NINTH POSTURE:** Also the ninth posture is exactly the repetition of the second (See No. 2 of Fig. 16). Upon realizing this posture one continues retaining the breath and once effected, exhale gently. The beneficial effects are the same as those of the second posture.

**TECHNIQUE OF THE TENTH POSTURE:** The tenth posture is also the exact repetition of the first, thus finishing that series of postures of Maha-Surya-Pranasana exactly with the same posture with which it had been started. (see No. 1 of Fig. 16).

## COMPLETE PRACTICE INSTRUCTIONS

### Study and Familiarization

Before practicing this Asana it is convenient to study well the figures published in the present number of [translate:La Iniciación] and in No. 20, thus familiarizing ourselves with the succession of movements. **The 10 postures, as has been said, constitute a single asana or "salutation" that should be effected in no more than TWENTY SECONDS.**

### Rest and Sacred Sound

After having executed all the ten postures of this asana one rests during all the time in which one counts to seven and then begin another cycle of movements. **Each time one finishes a "salutation" pronounce the sacred monosyllable [translate:OM].**

### Practical Requirements

It is indispensable when realizing the M.S.P. to be naked with only short pants or bathing suit, so that all the movements can be executed freely. One can practice at any hour of the day, it being preferable early morning or in the afternoon at sunset. It is necessary to remember that it must be practiced after having evacuated the intestine and before breakfast since it would be very dangerous to realize it while the stomach is digesting foods.

### Post-Practice Care

It is necessary to remember that it must be practiced after having evacuated the intestine and before breakfast since it would be very dangerous to realize it while the stomach is digesting foods.

### Post-Practice Care

After having finished the execution of this asana, rub the body with a dry towel, expose oneself for some minutes to the sun and have given finally, a friction with almond oil along the entire back and especially over the spinal column, which will bring a general tonification of the entire nervous system.

### Timing and Progression

**A complete "salutation" must last, as has been said, exactly twenty seconds**, that is an average of two seconds per posture.

#### Age-Based Guidelines:

- **Young men or women in good health** can do at least **21 complete "salutations" per day**, that is, seven early morning, seven at midday and another seven in the afternoon.

- **Children up to 10 years** can do from **12 to 16 "salutations" per day**, also divided in three times.

- **After 15 years**, one can increase the number until reaching **35 per day of 11 each time**.

- **Elderly persons** should not do more than **15 also in three times**.

One begins with **six "salutations" per day in three times**, to then gradually increase one or two per week.

### Initial Difficulties

At first one will encounter difficulty in the practice of these movements and especially in the synchronization of the same with breathing.

### The Threefold Integration

It is necessary to remember that **the postures of the M.S.P. must not be effected mechanically but with true devotion**, thinking in the parts of the body that one desires to develop, tonify or invigorate, imagining that such or such part of the body, internal or external, is developing or reducing, according to the case. **Applying thus the mental currents directed by the will to physical exercise, one can reach considerable benefit in a little time.** Observe readers that the M.S.P. realized thus as we have described puts into action three forces or energies: **the physical, the respiratory and the mental**.

### Final Blessing and Promise

Upon finishing the description of this marvelous asana we permit ourselves to say to readers that all those who will practice the M.S.P. with **faith, method and perseverance**, will note in a short time an immense wellbeing, the cure of their ailments, the obtaining of astonishing agility and an internal joy and peace that in vain they had sought by other means.

**Note:** This complete instruction represents one of the most systematic yoga teachings available in Western esoteric literature of the 1940s. The integration of physical movement, breath control, and mental direction demonstrates sophisticated understanding of yoga as a comprehensive science rather than mere physical exercise. The emphasis on devotional attitude, the use of the sacred [translate:OM], and the promise of "internal joy and peace" shows how traditional Eastern practices were being authentically transmitted within South American esoteric circles. The detailed age-based progressions and safety precautions indicate mature teaching methodology based on extensive practical experience.

# Document 66: The Bhagavad Gita Dietary Classification - Sattvik, Rajasic, and Tamasic Foods

**Translation from [translate:La Iniciación] Vol. 3 No. 22, February 1944**

**By Asuri Kapila, S∴I∴**

## Is it Possible to Prolong Youth?

### Does there exist a Spiritual Alchemy capable of returning youth to us? - Causes of old age and death.

### The Four Vehicles of Nourishment

Alimentation provides our **Physical Body** with all the foods necessary for the constant renovation of its tissues, such as proteins, carbohydrates, fats, mineral salts, water and vitamins.

Alimentation also provides energy to our **Vital Body**, that is, the one that is composed of ether and completely compenetrates the physical body in the same manner that ether compenetrates all matter. This [translate:"sátvica"] "sattvic" energy carried by the elements is transported by the blood to the Vital Body.

Foods also provide energy to our **Body of Desires**, that is, that which constitutes all our emotional nature and compenetrates both the Physical Body and the Vital, being able to be seen by the clairvoyant, since it exceeds the limits of the physical body and constitutes what is denominated "aura." Gross foods intoxicate the Body of Desires, thus making man passionate, violent and vicious.

The mind, which is really a mirror in which the external world is reflected and thus permits the Ego to transmit its influences to thought, also intoxicates itself through inadequate alimentation. The mental matter, by us irradiated (**[translate:Chitta]**) when we emanate a thought (**[translate:Vrittis]**) is found charged with dense atoms preventing us thus, from having pure, serene and constructive thoughts. We all know the cases of mental intoxication produced after what is accustomed to call "a good meal" and the cases of psychic disequilibrium produced by mental autointoxication as a consequence of the ingestion of drugs, alcohols, etc.

### The Universal Law of Food Influence

We all know the cases of mental intoxication produced after what is accustomed to call "a good meal" and the cases of psychic disequilibrium produced by mental autointoxication as a consequence of the ingestion of drugs, alcohols, etc.

### The Universal Law of Food Influence

By all that is exposed, we can realize the powerful influence that foods have on all our vehicles, from the densest to the most subtle, being, then, they, in great part, the responsible ones for our more rapid or slower evolution—physical, moral, mental and spiritual. So that, the more pure is the combustible that feeds our machine, greater yield and function will be possible to obtain from it.

What kills slowly and poisons beings, are the toxins that are formed by the bad chemical combinations developed during the digestive and assimilative processes, the excessive mixtures of inharmonic foods and the incompatibility of these foods.

### Ancient Yogic Wisdom

The ancient yogis of India, the wise Spiritual Masters already knew the occult chemistry of foods; these knew that never could be Yogis, Ascetics, Spiritual Masters, those who let themselves be carried away by gluttony. These Masters knew that, all the gross, dead, synthetic foods, could not favor the awakening of spiritual faculties and yogic powers, or those who fed themselves on them; they also knew that, all those who yearned to maintain their body and their mind always agile and young, free from illnesses and ailments of old age, should know, apply and practice certain dietetic methods coupled with certain special gymnastics (**Asanas**) and a conduct and moral, mental and spiritual discipline.

Could we imagine a Master, Buddha, Jesus, Ramakrishna seated at a table full of rich dishes eating and drinking without measure? What moral authority could a Spiritual Master have over his disciples or over the multitudes if he were not given the control of himself, the knowledge and exemplary practice of all that he teaches?

### Food Compatibility and Transplant Analogy

We will have to know the beneficial and noxious qualities of foods, the sympathy, the antipathy, the attraction and the repulsion that these foods feel for each other. It is very well known in operative technique that, when one wants to realize a transplant of tissues from one individual to another, the so-called "shock" or "rebellion" is produced, if the two tissues are not compatible. Tissues need to adapt, the same as blood, for transfusions. Just as it is necessary to classify this blood, so also foods are classified: this law also governs our foods.

### The Bhagavad Gita: The Golden Book of Ancient Wisdom

Tissues need to adapt, the same as blood, for transfusions. Just as it is necessary to classify this blood, so also foods are classified: this law also governs our foods.

### The Bhagavad Gita: The Golden Book of Ancient Wisdom

There exists in Indian literature an esoteric book, a true compendium of Yogic Initiation, that is held in India as the **Golden Book of the Wisdom of the Ancient Indian Initiates**, the **[translate:Bhagavad Gita]** ([translate:El Canto del Señor] The Song of the Lord), which is thousands of years old and is in turn an episode of the **[translate:Mahabharata]**, epic poem of India that contains 220,000 verses divided into 18 books written by Guru **[translate:Krichna Dvaipayana]**, called **[translate:el Vyasa]**, Ordainer and Revealer of the great Mysteries and Master of the Science of the Soul.

The [translate:Bhagavad Gita], which is a true exponent of Yoga, makes in one of its parts, a philosophical discussion about the foods that most suit man. The beloved [translate:Krichna] tells his disciple [translate:Arjona] the following words, (which show the great wisdom and perfect knowledge of the mysteries of dietetic science, a science that is just beginning to interest all doctors):

### Krishna's Teaching on the Triple Nature of Food

*"The food that each one needs to ingest is threefold, has triple aspect, hear beloved disciple, the distinction of these... there are foods that concentrate vitality, energy, vigor, health and joy and are delicious, soft and perfumed, substantial and agreeable to the palate and to the eyes for their varied range of colors. These are very dear to the pure, the ascetics, the saints and all those who desire to advance on the Spiritual Path; they are the **Sattvic foods**...*

> [translate:"En cambio el hombre pasional desea alimentos que son agrios, salados en exceso, excitantes, calientes, pujantes, secos y quemantes, los cuales producen dolor, tristeza y las enfermedades, son los alimentos Rajásicos…"]

*In contrast the passionate man desires foods that are sour, excessively salty, exciting, hot, pungent, dry and burning, which produce pain, sadness and diseases, they are the **Rajasic foods**...*

> [translate:"Los alimentos que son sin gusto, podridos, descompuestos, sazonados e impuros son muy queridos por los lujuriosos, y son los alimentos Tamásicos…"]

*The foods that are without taste, rotten, decomposed, seasoned and impure are very dear to the lustful, and they are the **Tamasic foods**..."*

**([translate:Gita], Cap. XVIII, 8-10).**

### The Three Gunas Applied to Nutrition

Now, if we analyze these words, we will find in them profound truths, especially if we make the definitions of the three words: **[translate:Sáttvica], [translate:Rajásica] and [translate:Tamásica]**, and if we examine them in the light of the knowledge of Indian Esotericism, we will see that the Great Spiritual Masters of antiquity who directed the famous **[translate:Escuelas Yogacharias]** (Yoga Schools) sustained that man should eat fruits, vegetables, milk and fresh cheeses. They called and classified these foods with three distinct names.

#### SATTVIK FOODS

They considered that milk, fruits, cereals, etc., were **Sattvik foods**. And, as the word **[translate:Sáttvica]** indicates in Sanskrit: intelligence, understanding, repose, knowledge, placidity, goodness, equilibrium, purity, truth, energy, vital potency, light, power, illumination, force, resolution, harmony, brilliance, calm, serenity, spirit, heart, benevolence, mind, elevated thought, pure spirit, these Masters of Wisdom gave to understand with that classification, that all the foods that fell under the name of **Sattvik**, were considered pure, energetic and vitalizing, and moreover possessors of all those qualities inherent to the word [translate:Sáttvica], making it clear that the man who fed himself on them, would become pure of body, mind and soul.

#### RAJASIC FOODS

They considered eggs, fish, birds and other meats as **Rajasic foods**. Now, **[translate:Rajásico]** means in Sanskrit, "quality of impurity," it comes from **"[translate:rajas]"**. The effects of **"[translate:rajas]"** in the objective world are movement and energy; in the subjective it manifests as suffering, pain, turbation, anxiety, restlessness, agitation, tedium, disgust, jealousy, envy, instability, confusion, desire, passion, violent love, hate, malice, gluttony, addiction to discords and to slander, disequilibrium, unrest, disorder, violence, struggle, effort, slavery, giving to those who feed on these dishes the qualities inherent to the term **[translate:Rajásico]**. **Rajasic foods are considered deposits of all the malignant and impure qualities** because they excite, pervert and unbalance the body, mind and soul.

#### TAMASIC FOODS

**Rajasic foods are considered deposits of all the malignant and impure qualities** because they excite, pervert and unbalance the body, mind and soul.

#### TAMASIC FOODS

The meats of pork, poultry, spicy and excessively fermented foods are called **Tamasic foods**, because they communicate to the mind inertia and anger, the word **"[translate:Tamas]"** in Sanskrit means, "quality of darkness," impurity, inertia, ignorance, density, laziness, anxiety, distrust, dejection, indecision, obfuscation, blindness, illusion, error, torpor, sleep, lethargy, sensuality, imprudence, hardness of heart, egoism and eroticism. **These foods transmit to those who feed on them all the qualities inherent to the word "[translate:Tamas]"**.

### The Evidence of Intoxication

Do not those who have the vice of getting drunk with intoxicating beverages show mental disequilibria, physical stigmas, etc., that lead them slowly to degeneration, to madness and to premature death? This also applies to foods.

### Conclusion: The Path to Longevity

After what is exposed we draw the conclusion that **Sattvik foods are the most harmonious for our health** since they will give us long youth and life, permanent health and a perfect harmony between the physical, the elemental and the spiritual, since, in them are contained all the maximum potencies and very especially a very subtle **"[translate:Prana]"**.

In the next number we will show our readers why meats are considered noxious, and which are really the foods that every person who desires to realize and live a superior life should accustom himself to eat.

**PEACE TO ALL BEINGS**

**[translate:U]**

**[translate:A M]**

**(To be continued)**

---

**Note:** This exposition demonstrates the sophisticated integration of ancient Vedic wisdom with modern nutritional understanding. Asuri Kapila's presentation of the three **gunas** (fundamental qualities) applied to diet represents one of the earliest systematic presentations of this teaching in Western esoteric literature. The recognition that food affects not only the physical body but all subtle vehicles anticipates modern understanding of psychosomatic medicine. The analogy with tissue transplant compatibility shows remarkable prescience about the importance of individual constitutional factors in nutrition, while the emphasis on **prana** (life force) in foods points toward what would later be recognized as the energetic dimension of nutrition.

## Suddha Dharma Mandalam

**Aspirants to spiritual practices:** Any person, member or not, of Initiatic Orders, who desires to follow spiritual and respiratory practices, meditation, etc., can address: Dr. Jehel (S.D.M.), P.O. Box 317, Montevideo

### Internal News

**Protocol of December:** documents from Nos. 616 to 670.

Jehel (S.D.M.), P.O. Box 317, Montevideo

### Internal News

**Protocol of December:** documents from Nos. 616 to 670.

**Protocol of entire year 1943:** documents from No. 11 to 670, that is **659 documents** that have entered or left through this protocol: average of 55 per month.

### Situation of Disciples

| Status | November 30 | December 31 |

|--------|-------------|-------------|

| Performing 1st Exercise | 42 | 20 |

| Performing 2nd Exercise | 23 | 24 |

| Performing 3rd Exercise | 10 | 11 |

| Performing 4th Exercise | 14 | 14 |

| Performing 5th Exercise | 5 | 8 |

| **Total** | **94** | **77** |

### Geographic Distribution by Ashramas

On December 31st the 77 Disciples in activity were distributed as follows: **Argentina: 39, Brazil: 13, Uruguay: 25**.

### Annual Movement Analysis: Extremely Instructive Statistics

This statistic is extremely instructive, since it shows us that:

On January 1st there existed, of 100 persons invited to follow practical teaching, **69 who lost interest** and **31 who practiced**. During the year, **59 more persons** were successively invited, which thus raises the total of total invitees to **159**. But not all had the constancy to follow and for this reason, of the **159 total invitees, only 77**, as observed in the table cited above, reach the end of 1943 in state of practitioners.

Now, it is interesting to note that **the 8 persons who are—on December 31, 1943—practicing Exercise 5, are therefore persons who have a minimum of 10 months of practice**, which varies from 15 to 40 minutes and who have oriented their life ever more toward the devotional sense and consciously active in Service.

Also it is noted that, as is natural, **the greatest number of desertions is verified during the practice of the first exercise**, since the greater part of those who are "curious" or "personally interested in phenomena or in personal progress only" do not resist 60 or 90 days of a practice that, done with such spirit, cannot under any concept, bring them what they desire through mere vanity or curiosity.

On the other hand, it is interesting to verify that **those who have followed the Path without personal interest, with real desire to "improve themselves only to be more useful" have had most beautiful results**. Without citing names or facts too reserved, I will lift a corner of the veil so that those who go on the Way may find in this a confirmation of their own experiences.

### Documented Spiritual Experiences

#### Example A: Direct Teaching from Hindu Master

Without citing names or facts too reserved, I will lift a corner of the veil so that those who go on the Way may find in this a confirmation of their own experiences.

### Documented Spiritual Experiences

#### Example A: Direct Teaching from Hindu Master

**Disciple "I"** is performing a determined exercise and cannot manage to "feel" a mantram in which he confusedly perceives would be necessary to realize to achieve the state or effect aimed at. There appears to his sight a Being—of Hindu appearance—who makes negative signs with his head, indicating that he is not doing things as he should. The Disciple asks mentally: "How to do it?" The Being places himself before him and shows him the position of mouth, the "internal impetus" and makes him feel what comes from the heart with the following phrase: **"The heart is the bow and the mantram is the arrow."** The Disciple feels and understands, executes as he has perceived and the Being makes him not only affirmative sign but his physiognomy fills with joy for the small progress or result obtained by the Disciple. (...what a beautiful lesson for those who lose interest in helping their fellow initiates...) From that day, the progress of the Disciple in that particular exercise accelerates notably and several times the same being returns "when it is necessary" with other direct teachings.

#### Example B: Psychic Guidance for Child Care

**Disciple "S"** has a small child, who cries in his crib without it being possible to identify the cause of his discomfort. During siesta, without the Disciple being asleep, a Being shows him the child's mattress and makes signs that it is necessary to open it and remove it. Later, this being done, it is verified that the mattress—new—contained small worms of wool that were bothering the child. This example proves that, precisely when we do not seek egoistically to take advantage of "occultism" for our own profit or that of ours, is when the Plane called Invisible comes to help us even in the details of daily life.

#### Example D: Etheric Ritual Objects

This example proves that, precisely when we do not seek egoistically to take advantage of "occultism" for our own profit or that of ours, is when the Plane called Invisible comes to help us even in the details of daily life.

#### Example D: Etheric Ritual Objects

**Disciple "X"** sees, on a certain occasion, that certain ritual objects are placed for him and others are "given" to him, all of etheric matter of course. Finished the exercise, the objects "disappear"... but, upon beginning the daily exercise anew, the same objects "return alone" to place themselves at the disposition of the disciple for his small mental ceremonies, or even through "directed gestures" that permit obtaining more rapidly determined changes in his invisible vehicles or in his etheric vibrations, as you want to call it. This same Disciple has been "accompanied or taken" (there is no other form to express it) to notable heights, seeing on the internal plane, our entire solar system, and feeling its life, the attraction of the planets toward the Sun and of our Sun toward Sirius and toward another invisible center. This is very important, because this Disciple was ignorant, when this was shown to him, of certain secret teachings of the Rose Cross that refer to all this, which are also contained in the secret tradition of the Brahmins.

#### Example E: Universal Life Experience

**Various Disciples** arrived at a stage, in which repeatedly they saw parade before their marveling eyes, the transformation of the kingdoms through past ages and their current components, and all of them felt, as their diaries express, **"that their life was the life of all beings."** But it is necessary to note that this was not accepted as a beautiful intellectual notion, mental, as a philosophical conviction in which **ONE CAN BELIEVE WITHOUT THEREFORE CHANGING MORALLY NOR SPIRITUALLY** but that, on the contrary, the Disciples who **LIVED** these moments, since then find themselves indissolubly linked to all that lives in a **CONSCIOUS, MARVELOUS AND LOVING** manner. And, from then on the **PROOF** of this is found in that said disciples show themselves **IN THEIR ACTS** each time more gentle, more soft, more helpful, more fraternal,—in a word—with their brother Members of the Order, with their relatives and friends, with animals, with all that lives. I believe that he who has not lived those moments cannot really understand this, since certain things—those that are **LIVING**—are only understood "feeling them," that is having lived them, either oneself, or by having identified with who has been living them.

#### Example F: Telepathic Connection During Meetings

#### Example F: Telepathic Connection During Meetings

**The sensitivity and the real bond** that forms among all those who really follow well the indicated way, become so effective, that, many times I have verified, that without ceasing to attend their occupations in daily life, many disciples have felt perfectly when, for example, I was meeting with another or other Disciples, what subjects we were treating and even what were the "invisible" (??...) presences that were found at our side and what orientation said Presences brought us. These facts, confirmed by observation of the hour, of the identity of the persons physically present, by the exactitude of the theme cited and by the exact perception of what would result later from said interviews or studies.

#### Example G: Precognitive Group Experiences

**In various meetings**, whether of GIDEE, whether of the Martinist Order, or even in meetings at members' homes, many times the Suddhists have perceived simultaneously the next occurrence of facts that "had to happen" in those occasions and have seen themselves directed to meetings to which they had not been convoked or acted in them in a manner absolutely concomitant with the fact "not yet manifested" that potentially worked in the environment.

### Regret and Future Teaching

I feel that the enumeration of all these facts has deprived me of offering them in this number of the Magazine, the continuation of the Teachings of Suddha Dharma (notes of the Pandit about the Hierarchy), which I will publish in following numbers, but, on the other hand, I have the conviction that these rapid annotations, originating from the study of dozens of "diaries" of Suddhists who study in our Ashramas, will be of some benefit, both for persons who are just beginning this particular Way within the Great Path, as for those who having lived, partially or totally, some of these experiences, will thus see clarified some points for the realization of their co-brothers.

### Final Blessing and Wish

Finishing, I wish to all of you that 1944 be for many of you the year in which it will be possible to realize much in the Service of others and in which some of you can consciously proffer the **Great Promises** that open the door of definitive entrance to Work under the orientation of the Hierarchy.

**Historical Analysis:** This remarkable documentation represents some of the most detailed accounts of advanced spiritual experiences in Western esoteric literature. The systematic recording and analysis of disciples' "diaries" demonstrates the scientific approach to mystical development characteristic of authentic spiritual schools. The experiences described—direct teaching from discarnate masters, psychic guidance for practical problems, etheric ritual implements, cosmic vision, universal life realization, telepathic connections, and precognitive abilities—indicate genuine advanced spiritual development rather than mere imagination or wish-fulfillment. The emphasis on moral transformation as proof of authentic experience ("more gentle, more soft, more helpful, more fraternal") shows the mature understanding that true spirituality must manifest in ethical behavior. The statistical analysis revealing that only dedicated, unselfish students achieved lasting results demonstrates the rigorous standards maintained by serious esoteric schools.

# Document 68: Man and the Vegetable Kingdom - Cosmic Symbiosis and Spiritual Evolution

**Translation from [translate:La Iniciación] Vol. 3 No. 22, February 1944**

**By Mario Antonioletti**

## Man and the Vegetable Kingdom

There exists a mysterious relationship between the evolution of Humanity and that of the other kingdoms of Nature.

Man progresses and evolves extracting minerals, forging metals, cultivating plants, raising animals.

### The Global Agricultural Production

Annually there is produced in the entire world around **eight hundred forty million tons** of the principal edible agricultural products. This quantity represents the crystallization of an immense labor of human beings, in close collaboration with earth, water, air and terrestrial and solar fire. **The Cross of the traditional four elements resplands in the circle that marks the rolling of seasons and years.**

### The Hand of Human Power

The vegetable and animal aspects are selected by man, who thus imprints his hand of power on the evolution of the terrestrial globe. His collaboration with Nature is, in general, very interested, and sometimes cruel and implacable; but, interested solidarity is the germ of what must come to be the comprehensive love of a **Francis of Assisi** who converses jubilantly with sister water, with sister birds, with brother Sun and with sister Death.

### The True Nature of the Struggle

### The True Nature of the Struggle

It is frequently said that man "struggles" against nature to capture its secrets and put them at the service of progress. Without doubt there is something effective in this concept of belligerence, but, **the struggle is in reality against the darkness that obscures comprehension**. With respect to Nature, the action of the scientist, of the miner and of the agriculturist could rather be likened to the action of the diligent bee that extracts the nectar from flowers.

It is true, more than of struggle one should speak of forces amalgamated by pain, which is the currency or drachma with which must be acquired the entrance to each one of the dwellings of the "kingdom" of divinity manifested in Nature. **Pain is always index of birth, in the flesh or in the Spirit.**

### The Maternal Tenderness of Nature

If this concept of cosmic solidarity and collaboration penetrated more profoundly into human consciousness, individual and collective comprehension would widen its horizons. The marvelous reality of the maternal tenderness with which Nature elaborates in her bosom all that must permit manifesting the divine in the economic-social: **Abundance**, would be discovered.

The minerals that have been used by man have been recently elaborated in the bowels of the Earth: marble, metals and precious stones, which are **the flowers of the mineral kingdom**.

### The Vegetable Laboratory of Transmutation

And the vegetable kingdom not only elaborates the food of human blood, but also is **the laboratory in which the soul can study the technique and art of transmutation**. **The white lily rises above the mud**; this single fact is sufficient to see in the vegetable kingdom a "dwelling" or aspect of divine manifestation.

There is something essentially identical that links the human soul to the vegetable world. For something the Bible presents man as a "garden" in which all classes of plants grow. Who has not felt sometime "flourish" in his own mind an idea? It is a sensation of prodigious beauty, that lightly touches the senses of the spirit, like the petals of a rose.

### The Tree of Life in Human Consciousness

When in the fulfillment of duty, in a labor of investigation or of supreme sacrifice, man feels vibrating in himself the grandeur of the cosmos and of God, there offers itself naturally and spontaneously to consciousness the idea that man really has in himself, planted in the "center" of the Eden of the Soul, **the mysterious Tree of Life** that, having its roots in the "earth" or human flesh, elevates its crown to the air of Freedom, to drink the Light of the spiritual Sun, which the ancients called **sun of Justice**, because only men can feel it, nourish themselves on its rays (the fabulous manna) and even come to see it in the dark night in which the masses wander as in arid desert.

### Modern Psychology Confirms Ancient Images

### Modern Psychology Confirms Ancient Images

Modern psychology, upon studying the laws of association of ideas, has come to verify the foundations of millennial images, such as being: that living knowledge or spiritual comprehension, is a Tree, whether called **"Bodhi"**, with Hindu terminology, or **"of the Sephiroth"**, with kabbalistic terminology. And **Jesus of Nazareth** compared the Kingdom of God to a great plant that unfolds from a small mustard seed.

### The Magnetic Bonds with Flowers

The magnetic bonds between soul and plant present themselves in surprising form when we direct our attention to flowers. **Their suggestive power is an incontestable reality.** Poets, priests, mystics, lovers, rulers and citizens ratify this truth with their daily behavior. Flowers act upon imagination, awaken emotional and spiritual resonances, are the medium through which the deepest messages of the heart are silently transmitted.

### Sacred Floral Symbolism

**The Lotus Flower** is in the Orient the expression of the highest spiritual realization.

**The Flower of three petals, or Fleur de Lys**, was the royal insignia of the Bourbons, is currently that of the Boy-Scouts, and for many is still today a representation of the triune aspect of divinity that shines throughout the Universe in Wisdom, Force and Beauty or, according to a formula divulged by Ortega y Gasset, in Truth, Goodness and Beauty.

### The War of the Roses: Spiritual Symbols in Political Passion

The XVI century is saturated with the resonance of the **White Rose** and the **Red Rose**, which distinguished in England the two sides of the civil war (1455-1485) between the house of York and that of Lancaster.

This is the latter, a very notable case of floral symbols of profound spiritual signification that have acted in the red sea of collective passions. But the turbulence of the passional political surge takes nothing away from the spiritual importance of the symbol, whose beauty ennobles even the most bitter struggles, bringing from the height of spirit a glimpse of the Eternal to individuals blinded by the clamor of battle. Because **the Red Rose is symbol of sap and blood, purified and transmuted by the light of the Sun**, and **the White Rose is expression of the man who, according to the expression of John, "has been born a second time."**

### The Legend of the First Christian Rose

According to a legend, the preaching of the Gospel by the apostles coincided with the flowering of a red rose upon a wooden cross that **Mary Magdalene** had planted in a garden on the shores of the Lake of Tiberias. That first rose flowered on the side corresponding to the heart of the Crucified.

That first rose flowered on the side corresponding to the heart of the Crucified.

It may be a simple legend, but what is certain is that each time the Doctrine was crucified by dogma and fanaticism, there always came a spring in which **the red rose flowered again in the heart of the Cross**. Very often the flowering cost the life in the bonfire, on the scaffold or in torture, of the intrepid leader of the purifying renovation. But that sacrifice gave greater splendor and beauty to the renaissance of the mystical rose.

### The Eternal Secret of Christianity

**In this miracle, renewed a thousand times, is the secret of the eternal vitality of Christianity as doctrine of redemption.**

---

**Note:** This profound meditation demonstrates the sophisticated understanding of cosmic symbolism characteristic of mature esoteric thought. Antonioletti's vision of the 840 million tons of annual agricultural production as "crystallization of immense human labor in collaboration with the four elements" shows how spiritual insight can transform statistical facts into mystical understanding. The insight that "pain is always index of birth, in the flesh or in the Spirit" and that humanity's relationship with nature should evolve from exploitation toward "comprehensive love" anticipates modern ecological consciousness. The analysis of floral symbolism from the Lotus through the Bourbon Fleur de Lys to the English War of the Roses demonstrates how universal archetypes work through historical events. Most significantly, the connection between Mary Magdalene's legendary rose at Tiberias and the perpetual renewal of Christian mysticism reveals the deep understanding that authentic spirituality continuously resurrects despite institutional persecution.

**Asuri Kapila, S∴I∴**

**August 27, 1943 E∴C∴** (Era Común - Common Era)

---

**Note:** This beautiful mystical poem demonstrates Asuri Kapila's profound understanding of hands as sacred instruments connecting heaven and earth. Written in August 1943 during the height of World War II, the poem's vision of hands transforming "swords into plowshares" and bringing about a "New World" through "work in peace" shows remarkable spiritual optimism amid global conflict. The progression from individual healing hands (mother's, beloved's, master's) to collective healing ("hands united in chain") to cosmic redemption reflects the characteristic Martinist understanding of how personal spiritual development serves universal transformation. The reference to Christ's crucified hands as the ultimate symbol of divine love suffering for humanity's salvation, followed by the prophecy that "through them all humanity will be saved," demonstrates the deep Christian mystical foundation underlying South American esotericism. The use of the designation "E∴C∴" (Era Común) instead of "A.D." (Anno Domini) shows the attempt to universalize Christian symbolism beyond sectarian boundaries.

# Document 70: Complete Translation Summary - February 1944 Issue

**Translation from [translate:La Iniciación] Vol. 3 No. 22, February 1944**

## Summary of Complete February 1944 Issue

This document serves as a comprehensive index and summary of the complete translation of [translate:"La Iniciación"] Volume 3, Number 22, from February 1944. This pivotal wartime issue has been systematically translated into 10 separate documents covering all major articles and sections.

### Historical Significance of February 1944:

This issue captures the peak of wartime spiritual development within South American esotericism:

- **Prophetic Accuracy:** Jehel's prediction that 1944 would end the "fratricidal physical trial" and begin the "moral trial" proved remarkably correct

**Triple Nourishment System:** Recognition that humans are nourished by food, air, and sensations, with environmental correspondence: social medium (sensations), pulmonary medium (air), physical medium (food).

**Carriage Analogy:** Elegant metaphor explaining how nine-element constitution reduces to seven through fusion: coachman (spirit) + horse (life) + carriage (body), with driver-reins connection representing spiritual-physical integration.

**Venusian Duality:** Sophisticated understanding of Venus as both "proud Lucifer" (wisdom aspect) and love goddess, demonstrating non-dualistic approach to planetary forces.

**Bhagavad Gita Application:** Systematic presentation of threefold food classification:

- **Sattvik:** Fruits, vegetables, grains - promoting purity, energy, spiritual development

- **Rajasic:** Meat, eggs, stimulants - creating passion, restlessness, mental disturbance

- **Tamasic:** Fermented, spoiled, processed foods - inducing inertia, ignorance, degeneracy

### Scientific and Cultural Integration:

**Agricultural Statistics:** Mario Antonioletti's vision of 840 million tons of annual global food production as "crystallization of immense human labor in collaboration with the four elements" demonstrates how spiritual insight transforms material facts.

**Ecological Consciousness:** Recognition that humanity's relationship with nature must evolve from exploitation toward "comprehensive love of a Francis of Assisi who converses with sister water, sister birds, brother Sun and sister Death."

**Ecological Consciousness:** Recognition that humanity's relationship with nature must evolve from exploitation toward "comprehensive love of a Francis of Assisi who converses with sister water, sister birds, brother Sun and sister Death."

**Psychological Validation:** Acknowledgment that "modern psychology, upon studying the laws of association of ideas, has come to verify the foundations of millennial images" regarding consciousness as Tree of Life/Bodhi/Sephiroth.

**Historical Symbolism:** Deep analysis of floral symbols from Lotus (Oriental spiritual realization) through Fleur de Lys (divine trinity) to War of Roses (purified blood vs. second birth), demonstrating archetypal forces working through historical events.

### Wartime Mystical Vision:

Asuri Kapila's "Prayer of the Hands" written August 27, 1943, during World War II's darkest period, envisions hands transforming "swords into plowshares" through "work in peace" and bringing about a "New World" through divine anointing. The poem's progression from individual healing hands to collective spiritual power to cosmic redemption reflects mature understanding of how personal development serves universal transformation.

### Practical Applications and Safety Measures:

**Yoga Instruction:** Complete Maha-Surya-Pranasana system with:

- Age-based progressions (children 12-16, adults 21, elderly 15 daily salutations)

- Threefold integration (physical movement + breath control + mental direction)

- Sacred elements (OM pronunciation, devotional attitude)

**Dietary Guidelines:** Practical application of Vedic principles with emphasis on foods that enhance rather than intoxicate subtle bodies, supporting spiritual development through proper nutrition.

**Statistical Methodology:** Rigorous tracking of spiritual development through careful analysis of practitioner diaries, demonstrating scientific approach to mystical training.

### Legacy and Contemporary Relevance:

This February 1944 issue represents the mature flowering of South American esotericism during humanity's greatest crisis. The successful integration of:

- **Christian Mysticism** (crucified hands, redemptive suffering, divine love)

- **Eastern Wisdom** (Bhagavad Gita classification, yogic practices, Sanskrit terminology)

- **Western Hermeticism** (astrological correspondences, human constitution analysis)

- **Modern Science** (psychological validation, nutritional understanding, statistical methodology)

- **Practical Spirituality** (documented experiences, safety guidelines, moral transformation emphasis)

Creates a unique synthesis that anticipated many developments in contemporary spiritual practice, psychology, and holistic health approaches.
