**Historical Note:** This January 1944 issue marks the beginning of Volume III and represents a significant expansion of teachings. The issue addresses fundamental questions about Martinism's relationship to Masonry, provides detailed exposition of the Invisible Chain doctrine, advances the study of human constitution through nine-element analysis, and documents the growth and challenges of the Suddha Dharma Mandalam during wartime. The inclusion of the Martinist commemorative calendar establishes the spiritual ancestry of South American practitioners while Jehel's mystical poetry [translate:Vía Crucis] demonstrates the personal devotional dimension of the path.
# Document 51: Real Position in the Martinist Order - Fundamental Doctrinal Clarifications

## Real Position of the Martinist Order
As the number of Martinists increases on this Continent, and of persons interested in joining the ranks of Martinist Initiates, two problems grow in parallel, to which it is necessary to attend, and for whose solution this article constitutes a first step.
These two problems are:
**1st)** Various questions that new Martinists or those about to join Martinism ask us or ask themselves.
**2nd)** Commentaries, not always characterized by the best intentions, that certain persons or collectivities make about Martinism.
I believe that, initially, some clarifications could be useful to those interested from one sector or the other.
### WHAT DOES MARTINISM HAVE TO DO WITH MASONRY?
**2nd)** Commentaries, not always characterized by the best intentions, that certain persons or collectivities make about Martinism.
I believe that, initially, some clarifications could be useful to those interested from one sector or the other.
### WHAT DOES MARTINISM HAVE TO DO WITH MASONRY?
To this question or to this insinuation, it would suffice to respond, to synthesize the reality, with a single word: **"NOTHING"**. But, as this response could sin by excessive brevity, I will give in few words the key to the fact: Martinism, in its teachings, comments on the symbolism contained in the traditions of many initiation societies or that were so at some epoch. It is indisputable that Masonic symbolism contains elevated teachings from its first degrees, which demonstrate the existence of Divinity, the constitution of Man and the Immortality of the human spirit, without speaking, for today, of the high teachings of hermetism, cosmogony and theology that can be found if one has the key to the symbolism of the superior degrees of various of its rites.
But a single fact suffices to prevent Martinism from desiring to have any bond with modern Masonry: there reigns in it a social finality, almost always with political nuances, that does not interest us under any concept. Moreover, the legacy of "revenge" of Saint Woehme, of the Templars, etc., that Masonry contains, also separates us from it, since, as our Grand Master **PAPUS** said:
> [translate:"El grado 30 de la masonería, fue siempre reprobado por los Martinistas, que prefieren la oración a la venganza política y que desean ser leales servidores de Aquél que dijo 'Quien hiera por la espada, por la espada perecerá'."]
*"The 30th degree of Masonry was always disapproved by the Martinists, who prefer prayer to political revenge and who desire to be loyal servants of Him who said 'He who strikes by the sword, by the sword shall perish.'"*
Thus this point is clarified, to which I will return if necessary.
### BEING MARTINISM OF CHRISTIAN ORIENTATION, DOES IT CONSIDER JESUS CHRIST AS BEING ONLY ONE OF THE MANY INSTRUCTORS THE WORLD HAS HAD?
No. Martinism, a school of Christian esotericism, respects the way of thinking and acting of each one, since it has as one of its principles the respect for individual liberty, but doctrinally it teaches what can be extracted from the various paragraphs that I will cite from our venerated Master **PAPUS**, and which continue being the expression of the conviction of every true Martinist who has studied, understood, felt and lived the doctrine of Martinism:
> [translate:"Cada hemisferio terrestre tiene leyes de evolución y de involución recíprocamente complementarias... actualmente, el Oriente y especialmente Asia están en la época de la sabiduría y de la vejez, mientras que Europa, eje central, termina la adolescencia y que América está ya en plena juventud..."]
actualmente, el Oriente y especialmente Asia están en la época de la sabiduría y de la vejez, mientras que Europa, eje central, termina la adolescencia y que América está ya en plena juventud..."]
*"Each terrestrial hemisphere has laws of evolution and involution that are reciprocally complementary... currently, the Orient and especially Asia are in the epoch of wisdom and old age, while Europe, central axis, finishes adolescence and America is already in full youth..."*
> [translate:"Los Brahmanes de la India saben perfectamente que Europa tuvo su Mesías hace solamente 20 siglos, mientras que Asia tuvo el suyo hace más de 87 siglos..."]
*"The Brahmins of India know perfectly well that Europe had its Messiah only 20 centuries ago, while Asia had its own more than 87 centuries ago..."*
### The Great Manifestation 500 Years Before Christ
> [translate:"alrededor de 500 años antes de J. C., vemos nacer a la más extensa y hermosa manifestación del florecimiento del plano divino. Los Grandes Mensajeros celestes se multiplican y la Tierra entera oye las voces de lo Alto."]
*"Around 500 years before J.C., we see born the most extensive and beautiful manifestation of the flowering of the divine plane. The Great celestial Messengers multiply and the entire Earth hears the voices from on High."*
**In China:** LAO-TZE and KONG-TZEE
**In Japan:** SON-MOU
**In India:** the 4th BUDDHA (who should not be confused with Sakya, the previous one)
**In Persia:** the principal redactor of the Zend-Avesta, the LAST ZOROASTER
**In Egypt:** the Great University is revealed under the name of HERMES
**Among the Jews:** EZRA who reestablishes the Sepher, thanks to the Chaldean Daniel
**In Greece and all the West:** the powerful voice of PYTHAGORAS who reveals to all the West the principle of its future evolution
**Even in future Rome:** NUMA who re-links the Etruscan rose tradition to the fables brought by the new masters of the world
What historian will then be blind enough not to see and not understand?
Shall we speak of the years that preceded Christianity? Will it be necessary to recall the Buddhist missions that arrive even at the school of Alexandria and take root even among the Essenes? Will it be necessary to name among the latter **HILLEL** and **JOHN THE BAPTIST**, the two great Voices that preceded the Word made flesh?
Will it be necessary to name **SOCRATES**, the divine, **PLATO**, superhuman genius, and the wise **ARISTOTLE**, since all of them strive to reveal the great mystery that is being prepared?
### The Coming of Christ
Will it be necessary to name **SOCRATES**, the divine, **PLATO**, superhuman genius, and the wise **ARISTOTLE**, since all of them strive to reveal the great mystery that is being prepared?
### The Coming of Christ
But behold, suddenly, all the oracles fall silent, the Great Corrupting Serpent seems to definitively tighten humanity in its black coils, and yet the Prophets and Seers are startled; the secret Light of Nature is illuminated with divine fire, the mysterious images, long announced, appear in the Astral, and the entire invisible world vibrates ecstatically, because the Queen of the Constellations, she who presides over the union of every celestial soul and every messenger; the Virgin of heaven, has created her terrestrial image; and the Word of the Father, slowly, clothes itself with veils and covers itself with flesh to arrive at the Earth... **Mystery of Mysteries—Iao... Sabaoth the Good emanate their celestial light**; the Archangels and the Thrones, the Dominations and the angels take knowledge of this world so separated from their essence and reveal themselves to the Virgin Light... And the initiates of Chaldea, the Magi, set out on the road, and their bodies of light follow, in their arrival, the divine spark that falls upon the Earth...
That the intellectual Light be, as in the Beginning the Physical Light was revealed, behold, come among us, **the Messiah of the White Race... CHRIST IS INCARNATE**.
### Christ: Evolved Man or Incarnate Word?
No comparison can be established between the Word and the Saviors of the other races who, in the Mystery, are placed at His right hand. But only the true initiates understand this Mystery and this is not the place to speak more of it...
Is Jesus an "evolved man" or the Incarnate Word?
In all schools linked, directly or not, to the oriental tradition, and consequently non-Christian, as well as in many Pythagorean centers, the neophytes are told: *"Every man possesses in himself a divine spark, which comes from the Logos or divine Word. It suffices to develop that spark to become a Christ. Jesus did thus, becoming a man evolved to the maximum. That is all."* According to such tradition, Jesus would have gone to seek in the Orient a center capable of developing his divine spark.
It suffices to develop that spark to become a Christ. Jesus did thus, becoming a man evolved to the maximum. That is all."* According to such tradition, Jesus would have gone to seek in the Orient a center capable of developing his divine spark.
According to our opinion and in agreement with all the teachings of the true Rosicrucians and occidental fraternities, that is an error. For the Illuminated Hermetists, like Jacob Boehme, Swedenborg and Claude de Saint Martin, **Jesus is the Word-Principle involved, that is, come in flesh and not a human flesh divinized**. Their opinion—besides being the result of direct visions into the invisible, of which we do not speak here on principle—is established on the fact that, unique among the revealers arrived on earth, **Jesus passed through death and returned in the same body that had suffered terrestrial death**, thus showing the nothingness of human terrors regarding passing from one plane to another. Neither Buddha, nor Moses, nor any of those who have been wanted to put in comparison with the Redeemer—and who were, they, evolved men—none, I said, has been able to surpass the door of the dead and return in the same body of flesh. Through reincarnation, by substitution of vehicle, it is possible to continue physical life, as a Dalai-Lama does.

# Document 52: What is the Invisible Chain of an Order? - Complete Esoteric Doctrine
**Translation from [translate:La Iniciación] Vol. 3 No. 21, January 1944**
**By JEHEL, S∴I∴ Dr. K.**
## What is the Invisible Chain of an Order?
To this question, frequently formulated by new Martinists, one must respond by facing the matter on three Planes: Spiritual, Astral and Visible.
### SPIRITUAL PLANE
Above all that is conceivable by the human mind, and as the ultimate essence of all, naturally The Divinity. Even respecting the multiform beliefs of peoples and epochs, Martinism, having no religious doctrine of its own (for Martinism IS NOT a religion, but a philosophical and scientific school on one side and of development of the devotional sense on the other) has always constituted itself as **Christian Chivalry**, and therefore Jesus, human manifestation of the Christ—Second Person of the Divine Tri-Unity—is the Spiritual Focus toward Which the spiritual prayers of Martinists will naturally converge.
Below, is found All the Sacred Hierarchy of the Angelic Hosts, toward which also can only rise, humbly, the prayers of those who have Faith and Devotion.
Up to this Level, one cannot speak of the "Chain of the Order" since it is a matter of the Divinity, of Its Celestial Servants and of Beings and Forces that, being by their own Nature and Function Divine and Universal, cannot be attributes—and much less "property"—of any society, sect, etc., but from all the pious hearts of the Christian World, rises toward them Veneration and human Love.
However, even within still the Spiritual Plane, are found, already in the **"Invisible Chain of the Order"** the **Martyrs of Martinist Thought**, that is, the Great Human Beings who, in life, consecrated all their efforts, their wisdom, their spirit of sacrifice, their prayers and their acts to the spiritual progress of their Brothers in belief and their successors. Among them are counted all Those—principally—who are found enumerated in the list of annual "Commemorations" of their return to Celestial Life.
They are venerated and invoked by the heart and thought, by virtue of their characteristic of Sacrifice, which made of them holy men, since to consecrate oneself exclusively to the wellbeing of humanity, especially under the aspect of spiritual advancement, is typically the characteristic of the being actively sanctified by his real devotion to the Divine and to the Human, since his life is a constant dedication to the realization of [translate:"Amaos los unos a los otros"] "Love one another."
### ASTRAL PLANE
This part is more complex, for some are inclined to believe—in a more or less "spiritualist" form—that the dead govern or tend to govern or help the living [translate:"sponte sua"] "of their own accord" and without the assent of the living. Others, with a concept more or less like Auguste Comte, believe that "the living are increasingly governed by the dead," in the sense that the accumulation of previous acts and thoughts have an evidently growing influence over time, on any present epoch that one wants to consider.
The Martinist, perfectly in agreement on this with all mystical teachings, believes simply the following: if, as all religions recommend, we can and should "pray for the deceased"—who therefore "live" under special conditions—it is logical to think that the action, prayer or any other modality of "post-mortem" (astral) activity of said dead also has its reflection on the living and that, the more intense the bond created consciously by some and others, the more sensitive and intense the effects will be.
#### The Collective Force
Evidently, beings who in life were spiritual in their actions must have a broader possibility after death and it is here where the law known by the Initiates intervenes, that in the astral world, not only "personal" beings—"deceased" or beings of properly astral nature—intervene in this process, but the acts, thoughts, etc., of thousands of beings, who for two centuries have labored in the same direction, constitute in the invisible world **a collective force, a wellspring of conscious energy**, with which it is possible to enter into contact, to obtain from it evident support for all acts that go in the direction of the current.
That is to say that we will only find support for acts or thoughts that are healthy, good, altruistic, moral, etc., and on the contrary, said current forms resistance to all that is bad or negative that there is in us, consciously or unconsciously. This constitutes a real protection, since, in ultimate analysis, it is as if I said that it "tends" to "push us" toward good and to "detain us, or at least slow us down," in that in which our own imperfection would lead us toward the negative side, which can be called error or sin, according to whether one wants to speak technically or theologically.
### VISIBLE PLANE
Within the visible plane, there is, however, a good dose of "invisible" things, from the purely concrete point of view: the sentiments and the mental or moral essence of the acts of daily living. But their effect is not therefore less intense, on the contrary. It suffices to think in what proportion a thought or sentiment of intense pain or intense joy modifies all our acts of a day of life, to realize that **"the invisible manifests itself to constantly model the visible."**
In an initiatic collectivity, such as Martinism, in which the bond between individuals is multiform: of convictions, of sentiments, of acts oriented in parallel and sometimes synchronically realized, it is evident that this force ceases to be individual to be increasingly a **living bond in action**. This constitutes then the "invisible chain within the visible world."
### RESULTS AND SYNTHESIS
Let us suppose that I desire, intensely and disinterestedly of course, that a scientific problem—let us say a medicine to cure one of the plagues that afflict humanity—be discovered. The first condition is NOT to desire to be oneself the "glorious" discoverer. But, so as not to abstract myself from the problem, let us suppose that I were a bacteriologist and thus had the possibility of being, technically speaking, one of those who "could" discover it.
#### The Use of the Initiatic Key
The use of the **Initiatic Key**, which supposes the acceptance of Providential Aid, could be summarized in the following form of expressing oneself with the Mind and with the Heart, which, if meditated well, completely clarifies the previous concepts of this article:
**1st)** [translate:"Divina Encarnación, que Te hiciste presente sobre la Tierra, para sufrir por la humana Redención. Te ruego que escuches mi ardiente plegaria, por la liberación de los seres del terrible dolor que los azota con el nombre de tuberculosis..."]
Te ruego que escuches mi ardiente plegaria, por la liberación de los seres del terrible dolor que los azota con el nombre de tuberculosis..."]
*"Divine Incarnation, who made Yourself present upon the Earth, to suffer for human Redemption. I pray You to hear my ardent prayer, for the liberation of beings from the terrible pain that afflicts them with the name of tuberculosis and that the moral sins that may have been the cause of such suffering be forgiven them, making repentance be born in them and in me as in others, the desire to share the moral responsibility of the same and the strength to bear the part that falls to me and that I implore at this moment, as part of the 'daily bread' that I ask for by the divine prayer that You granted us: 'Our Father... etc. Amen'"*
**2nd)** *Venerated Masters, you who in life and now are the Servants of Providential Goodness, I ask you with all my heart that the moral seed that my seed constitutes, be deposited and vivified in the Mind and Heart of the most apt among men currently living, so that it may be given to him to discover the visible remedy to the illness..., and that the Goodness and Disinterestedness necessary to divulge it with altruistic intention be given to him.*
*Venerable Master "X", You who are the one who for me represents the human ideal, the model upon which I try to mold my conduct in thoughts and acts, I ask you that, if it is possible, you support my request in the heights.*
**3rd)** *Venerable Brothers, to you who are always ready to work for every holy and good cause, I also ask you that the fraternal chain that you constitute in the moral and mental world, be put in movement to alleviate the beings who suffer from... And, if it is possible by discovery of the necessary technical remedy and by the desire of an ever greater number of beings, to NOT do the acts that create said illness and YES to do those that tend to suppress it.*
**4th)** *Friends and Brothers of the Visible Chain of the Order, I ask in the silence of my place of meditation and prayer that all of you feel in mind and heart the problem that I agitate for love of humanity, that you seek and find means to collaborate in its solution.*
### The Divine Response
I do not want to indefinitely lengthen this exposition, but I will summarize by saying this: This **PRAYER** (1st) to the Divine World, this **INVOCATION** (2nd) to the Masters, and that double **REQUEST** (3rd and 4th) to the Brothers of "both sides of the Chain," when they are made with ardent heart and pure and strong mind **ALWAYS ARRIVES and is always attended to**, not in the form in which we want or believe it will be, BUT **EXACTLY AS IT SHOULD BE**—For something it is said [translate:"NO Fiat voluntas mea"] "NOT My will be done" and YES
**[translate:FIAT VOLUNTAS TUA]** **"THY WILL BE DONE."**
**AMEN**
# Document 53: Commentaries on First Degree Martinism - Androgony and Nine-Element Constitution
**Translation from [translate:La Iniciación] Vol. 3 No. 21, January 1944**
**Teachings of Jehel, S∴I∴**
## Commentaries on the First Degree of Martinism
### Androgony (Continuation)
After having examined, in the previous article, the ternary constitution of the human being, let us take one more step, to discover how that general constitution in three elements decomposes, or, better said, composes itself of nine elements that, practically, will be resumed into seven later. I will cite, once again, the Venerable Master **PAPUS** for the simplicity of his exposition on this important matter. The Master says:
### Constitution with Nine Elements
*"There was a being, called PYTHAGORAS who made an extremely convenient table and in which the moderns have placed nothing more than figures. The ancients located there, contrarily, ideas, and we will imitate them by constructing thus a second table..."*
It will result then that we have:
**1st)** Three aspects of the physical: the physical in itself, the physical that goes into the domain of the astral and the physical that rises into the spiritual;
**2nd)** Three species of astral: a physical astral, a central astral and a spiritual astral;
**3rd)** Three modalities of the spirit or of the spiritual: the spirit in itself, its action in the astral and its manifestation in the physical.
## Table II - The Nine Elements
| | **PHYSICAL** | **ASTRAL** | **SPIRITUAL** |
|---|---|---|---|
| **Spiritual Level** | Physical of the Spiritual | Astral in the Spiritual | Spiritual in the Spiritual |
| **Astral Level** | Physical in the Astral | Astral in the Astral | Spiritual in the Astral |
| **Physical Level** | Physical in the Physical | Astral in the Physical | Spiritual in the Physical |
### The Three Bodies
But this is not all. There exists an esoteric school that remained enchanted upon discovering various "bodies" in man. It was not very difficult to find them, since the ancients admitted and taught that the human being does not possess only a material and visible organism, but also various invisible principles and vehicles. To each spiritual, astral or physical element, corresponds, effectively, a special body, which we will call respectively: **glorious body**, **astral body** and **physical body**. Let us note, in passing, that Saint Paul gave to the glorious body the name of spiritual body.
Each one of the three bodies that we have just cited, contributes to the formation of the other two. It is thus that, before physical birth, the glorious body takes the astral body, and this latter takes the physical body. During terrestrial life the physical body fabricates the astral body and the glorious body of the immediate posthumous existence.
It is thus that, before physical birth, the glorious body takes the astral body, and this latter takes the physical body. During terrestrial life the physical body fabricates the astral body and the glorious body of the immediate posthumous existence.
### Anatomical Correspondences
The preceding data, relative to the action of one principle over another, apply very exactly to the material organism, as the following Tables III and IV demonstrate, in which the terms "spiritual," "astral" and "physical" have been substituted by their analogous equivalents: "head," "chest" and "belly" or by "nervous force," "blood" and "lymph."
## Table III - Anatomical Regions
(Del. = Delegation)
| | **BELLY** | **CHEST** | **HEAD** |
|---|---|---|---|
| **Head Level** | Del. of belly in head | Del. of chest in head | Central domain of head |
| **Chest Level** | Del. of belly in chest | Central domain of chest | Del. of head in chest |
| **Belly Level** | Central domain of belly | Del. of chest in belly | Del. of head in belly |
## Table IV - Vital Fluids
| | **LYMPH** | **BLOOD** | **NERVOUS FORCE** |
|---|---|---|---|
| **Head** | Lymph in head | Blood in head | Nervous force in head |
| **Chest** | Lymph in chest | Blood in chest | Nervous force in chest |
| **Belly** | Lymph in belly | Blood in belly | Nervous force in belly |
### Specific Organ Correspondences
Thus, the **abdomen** or inferior center of the physical body, will comprise: the intestines, the stomach, the liver, the spleen and their annexes. The belly will be represented: 1st in the head by the lymphatic ganglia, 2nd in the chest, by the lymphatic vessels and the thoracic canal.
The **chest**, or middle center of the body will be composed of the two lungs and the heart. Its manifestation or delegation, in the head, constitutes the cerebral arteries and the carotids, and in the belly, the kidneys and the abdominal aorta.
The **head**, or superior center, will comprise the brain and its annexes. Its representation or delegation in the chest, will be called cardiac plexus and in the belly solar plexus.
### The Key to Human Constitution
We have, thus, through these last two tables (III and IV) the key to the constitution of man by nine principles. And, if we refer to the phenomenon of death, we will find these nine principles separated from one another. During terrestrial incarnation, the nine principles are intimately linked and "hook" two by two. Thus, the union of the physical with the astral produces a spark that is called **life** and that will last while man remains upon earth. In the same way regarding the union of the astral and the spiritual. Many have believed that this spark was permanent and did not know what to do with it after death or before birth.
### The Spark of Life Analogy
In the same way regarding the union of the astral and the spiritual. Many have believed that this spark was permanent and did not know what to do with it after death or before birth.
### The Spark of Life Analogy
It was however simple to compare physical life with the light produced by the electric current that passes through two carbons. The electricity and the carbons exist without doubt, the spark also manifests itself, but only during the passage of the current and not before or after.
### Practical Applications
Up to here I have cited from the Venerable Master Papus, what is necessary to understand how the localization of the nine elements that compose the human being is found anatomically, an inexhaustible theme if one wants to meditate on it, to understand laws of **alimentation, respiration, magnetism**, and all the most diverse practices, such as for example "understanding" how the head participates—and through it the spirit—in the material work of the hands or how the body participates, through the delegations of life (blood) and nervous force (vehicle of the spirit) in a creation.
Only thus is it understood that "the spirit can work and the body create" and that the unity of their action can be achieved. In the next article, we will examine the constitution of man, that is, the practical synthesis of the 9 elements into 7.
**(To be continued)**
---
**Note:** This systematic exposition demonstrates the sophisticated anthropological understanding underlying Martinist practice. The nine-element system provides the theoretical framework for understanding how spiritual practices affect the entire human constitution, from the grossest physical functions to the most subtle spiritual operations. The anatomical correspondences show how ancient wisdom anticipated modern understanding of psychosomatic medicine and holistic health approaches.
# Document 54: Practical Course in Judicial Astrology - The Sun
**Translation from [translate:La Iniciación] Vol. 3 No. 21, January 1944**
**Teachings of Surya, S∴I∴**
## Practical Course in Judicial Astrology
We have already studied in previous numbers: Saturn, Jupiter and Mars; we will see now the:
### SUN
Says J. Burgoyne, the Rosicrucian and author of [translate:"La Luz de Egipto"] "The Light of Egypt," cited by Papus:
[translate:"El aspecto simbólico del glorioso astro del día, llamó inicialmente, sin duda alguna, la atención, la veneración y la adoración de las razas primitivas de la humanidad."]
*"The symbolic aspect of the glorious star of day, called initially, without doubt, the attention, veneration and adoration of the primitive races of humanity. All natural things and beings depend absolutely on the presence and beneficent support of the resplendent SUN, for their existence and their life. The literal interpretation of the Hebrew name of the Sun: Asead, is 'The very beneficent fire' which is perfectly in harmony with the solar globe."*
All natural things and beings depend absolutely on the presence and beneficent support of the resplendent SUN, for their existence and their life. The literal interpretation of the Hebrew name of the Sun: Asead, is 'The very beneficent fire' which is perfectly in harmony with the solar globe."*
It is completely impossible, in little space, to give an idea, even very remote, of the innumerable mythologies and ramifications of the same, that symbolize the Sun. For that reason, we will say only that the **Osiris of Egypt**, the **Krishna of India**, the **Belus of Chaldea** and the **Ormuzd of the Persians**, are simply different personifications of the Sun.
### Kabbalistic Significance
Kabbalistically, the Sun represents the central spiritual source of all things. It is the divine I of the Great Man and therefore indicates the spiritual potentialities of creative power. It is the great **I AM** of all spiritual and temporal things, and is, by itself, the great wellspring of Life, Light and Love.
On the esoteric planisphere, the Sun becomes the great archangel **Michael** (Miguel) conqueror of Satan (Satanás) and who treads upon the head of the serpent of matter, and who, since then, watches over the path of life, of immortality, with the flaming sword of solar power. In this sense, the Sun represents the positive, aggressive, ruling forces of the cosmos. The forces of the Sun are electric.
### Astrological Considerations
Considered astrologically, the Sun constitutes the central principle of life of all physical objects. Its influence determines the absolute measure of physical vitality in each human organism. When the solar ray is not found vitiated by discordant configurations of the malefic stars, the individual born under such conditions will enjoy a healthy constitution; this will happen especially if the Sun, at the moment of birth, is found between the ascendant and the meridian, or, in other terms, during the growth of diurnal solar clarity, that is, from sunrise until noon.
### Intellectual and Moral Influence
On the Intellectual plane, the Sun governs the superior group of selfish sentiments and the inferior group of moral qualities; the former represented by firmness and self-esteem; the latter, by hope and conscience. Those who are dominated by this influence are **"natural leaders"** of humanity. By their noble bearing, they proclaim their "royalty by divine right." They are haughty and ambitious, but magnanimous and noble. Despising all astute, petty or mean actions, they express the highest form of truly dignified humanity.
On the Physical plane, the place of the Sun in the horoscope is of vital importance, for, in a poorly born individual, it detains the vital thread of life; if bad rays—aspects—concentrate there, life will be of short duration, unless powerful aspects intervene in the opposite direction.
### Martinist Astrological Teachings
The Martinist Astrologer **JULEVNO** teaches us that the SUN:
### Martinist Astrological Teachings
The Martinist Astrologer **JULEVNO** teaches us that the SUN:
[translate:"Siendo cálido, brillante y activo, dispone especialmente sobre las honras, debe ser consultado sobre el destino del padre y del marido y el corazón y los ojos están bajo su influencia."]
*"Being warm, brilliant and active, it especially disposes over honors, it should be consulted about the destiny of the father and husband and the heart and eyes are under its influence. It governs success, fame, public positions, power, vitality and, as we said, father and husband in feminine themes. The Sun grants a frank, honest, generous, noble and judicious character, friend of glory."*
### Solar Influences
**THE SUN DOMINATING THE BIRTH OR WELL DISPOSED**, makes the person: dedicated, friend of good, of notable natural wisdom. Such a person will generally be apt for study, the arts, literature, poetry, sculpture, chiseling, with taste for luxury or comfort, certain fame and honors.
**THE SUN ILL DISPOSED** in a theme, indicates fatuity, pride, arrogance, vanity, lack of generosity and tendency to deceive, to be unjust and ungrateful, despotic and incapable of triumphing in letters or in the arts.
### Physical Characteristics of "Solars"
**THE "SOLARS"** (born under strong influence of the Sun) are of medium stature, generally of beautiful forms. Their face is elegant in form, the forehead somewhat prominent, the complexion golden or of strong nuances, fine and blonde hair. The eyes large and humid, of sweet and somewhat severe gaze. Their mouth is medium with well-equal lips, the voice is sonorous and agreeable. All the forms are fine and harmonious in proportion and modeling.
The "solars" are elegant, with certain grace and even certain majesty in their bearing and their walk. Their gestures and mimicry are very expressive.
### Psychological Characteristics
To what these two great occultists teach us we must add that solars generally have one of the forms of "self-love," which can oscillate between a well-understood self-esteem, which is reflected in a dignity almost similar to that of the Jupiterian, to very great vanity or pride. All of them are very absorbing in their friendship, very despotic in their sentiments and of a very strong instinct in the preservation of their loved ones. They generally have a tendency to want to dominate, direct and advise others.
They are capable of sacrificing themselves entirely for the persons whom they love, but exclusively in the form in which they feel the bond with said persons. They act in analogous form with ideas or convictions, being, therefore, easily prey to a modality of fanaticism in their convictions that they do not modify, except obligated by the pressure of circumstances and when really their resistance has been carried to extreme limits.
They act in analogous form with ideas or convictions, being, therefore, easily prey to a modality of fanaticism in their convictions that they do not modify, except obligated by the pressure of circumstances and when really their resistance has been carried to extreme limits.
They have a very great sentiment of independence, which usually manifests itself even in the form of rebellion, or isolation, toward society or those who surround them, if these do not bend toward their idiosyncrasy. In a word they are governed entirely by their sentiments, which they transform into convictions or take for convictions those that respond to their sentiments.
Thus we finish the Study of the general influence of the SUN. Next we will see that of Venus.

## Progressive Course in Asana Yoga (Continuation)
### MAHA-SURYA-PRANASANA
The benefits that are obtained with the practice of this first posture can be summarized in an increase of the circulation of **[translate:prana]** throughout the entire organism.
## TECHNIQUE OF THE 2ND POSTURE: HASTA-AGNITEJAS-ASANA
This second posture, whose name means **"position of the hands that touch the ground,"** is practiced in the following manner:
Being in the first posture of the M.S.P., inhale deeply and slowly at the same time that a slow flexion movement of the trunk is performed until arriving to touch the ground or the tips of the feet with the fingers of the hands and the knees with the head. Return slowly to the primitive position, exhaling slowly. Number 2 of Fig. 16, in Number 20 of [translate:LA INICIACIÓN] shows this exercise very clearly.
### Benefits of the Second Posture
The benefits that are obtained with the practice of this second posture of the M.S.P., can be summarized as follows:
**1st)** Increase of tone and development of the muscles of the shoulders, arms, neck, thighs, legs and especially the abdomen and trunk.
**2nd)** Increase of tone of the **[translate:Manipura-Chakram]** or solar plexus.
**3rd)** Invigoration of the peristaltic and antiperistaltic or intestinal movements.
## TECHNIQUE OF THE 3RD POSTURE: NAGA-ASANA
This third posture, whose name means **"posture of the serpent"** or **"position of foot toward back,"** is performed by kneeling on the right knee, while the left leg is bent and with the knee between the extended arms, whose hands touch the ground. Being in this position (No. 3 of Fig. 16), bend the head backward, to look at the sky. The exercise can also be performed kneeling on the left knee and bending the right leg.
### Benefits of the Third Posture
The benefits of this third posture are felt on the spleen and on the liver. To stimulate hepatic functions, kneel on the left and bend to the right. Vice versa for the spleen.
### Benefits of the Third Posture
The benefits of this third posture are felt on the spleen and on the liver. To stimulate hepatic functions, kneel on the left and bend to the right. Vice versa for the spleen.
## TECHNIQUE OF THE 4TH POSTURE: HASTA-PADO-ASANA
The fourth posture, whose name means **"posture of the feet back,"** is performed in the following manner:
Being in the 3rd posture, retain the breath, throw backward the bent leg so that both legs remain together and toward back. All the weight of the body rests on the tips of the feet and hands (No. 4 of Fig. 16).
### Benefits of the Fourth Posture
The benefits of this fourth posture are felt in the strengthening of the muscles of the neck, back, arms, forearms, waist, thighs and legs.
## TECHNIQUE OF THE 5TH POSTURE: MAHA-SATVA-SALAM
The fifth posture, whose name means **"great salutation to life,"** is performed starting from the fourth posture through a slow flexion of the arms until arriving to almost touch the ground with all the anterior part of the body (No. 5 of Fig. 16).
All the weight of the body rests on the feet and arms, but it is generally on the latter and it is for this reason that the benefits of this posture are predominantly the development of the muscles of the hands, forearms and arms, in addition to those of the belly, back, neck and legs.
### Complete Sequence Practice
The first 5 postures of the M.S.P., can be practiced successively from the first to the fifth or separately one from another, it being recommendable that they all be practiced in a single exercise.
In the next number we will speak of the other five postures of the M.S.P.
### Closing Blessing

**Note:** This systematic yoga instruction demonstrates the comprehensive approach of Asuri Kapila, providing not only detailed technical instruction but also specific therapeutic benefits for each posture. The Sanskrit terminology is preserved to maintain the authentic transmission, while the progressive structure allows students to build safely from basic to more advanced positions. The integration of breathing ([translate:pranasana]) with movement shows the sophisticated understanding of yoga as a psychophysiological science rather than mere physical exercise.
# Document 56: Is it Possible to Prolong Youth? - Dietary Method and Anti-Natural Eating Habits
**Translation from [translate:La Iniciación] Vol. 3 No. 21, January 1944**
**By Asuri Kapila, S∴I∴**
## Is it Possible to Prolong Youth?
### Does there exist a Spiritual Alchemy capable of returning youth to us? - Causes of old age and death.
### SECOND METHOD: DIETARY

**By Asuri Kapila, S∴I∴**
## Is it Possible to Prolong Youth?
### Does there exist a Spiritual Alchemy capable of returning youth to us? - Causes of old age and death.
### SECOND METHOD: DIETARY
As our readers will see, the second method (the dietary) is of such importance and there are so many points to treat in it, that it becomes necessary to divide it into various sectors, since it performs, in obtaining rejuvenation, almost ninety percent of the potential required in the action and practice of what we are studying, maintaining our body, for a long time, young and in perfect state of health.
The different sectors to treat are the following:
**1st)** Total detoxification of the organism based on a system of natural alimentation.
**2nd)** Natural, integral alimentation.
**3rd)** Fasts, known and unknown methods (secret system of the Yogis of India).
**4th)** Compatibility and incompatibility of foods (alimentary chemistry), selection of harmonic and healthful foods for our finality. Causes of intoxications.
### The Greatest Destroyer of Humanity
It is necessary to know that **the greatest ravages to humanity, the highest mortality of human beings are not caused by wars, revolutions, epidemics, etc., but by our stomachs, human gluttony, that is the sensuality of the stomach**. It kills us little by little, ages us and brings us with giant steps to the tomb. **Food has caused more deaths than all the wars that humanity has had**, given that these have their periods, while the other is a constant evil.
**All the cooking recipes, the "famous cooks are their murderous recipes," have done more damage to humanity than all the generals on the battlefields**. Our stomachs are the causes of all physical, moral, mental, psychic and spiritual sores; it is hard to recognize it, but it is the truth, that gluttony, the terrible mortal sin condemned by all the great Spiritual Chiefs of all epochs, of all races, is guilty of the spiritual stagnation of humanity.
### The Conspiracy of Culinary Ignorance
The great hotels, the books of culinary recipes made without responsibility nor knowledge about alimentation, but at the whim of some chef who seeks popularity and knows human weakness in relation to good and tasty dishes, the famous **"family recipes"** that housewives transmit to each other like **"a military secret,"** the ignorance of our own parents regarding alimentation, are all guilty (naturally unconsciously) of all the illnesses that prematurely afflict current youth. Now one must add the routine, the tradition that we maintain by inheritance, which we still think to retransmit to future generations.
### Taught to Age from Childhood
Now one must add the routine, the tradition that we maintain by inheritance, which we still think to retransmit to future generations.
### Taught to Age from Childhood
**We are taught to age from our most tender age**, by the very ignorance of our parents, to practice an erroneous alimentation. The false and mistaken principles based on traditionalist, popular concepts are taken into account, that if the child, the adult, the man has not ingurgitated a quantity of foods and liquids three, four or more times a day, they will not have health, will be weak, dead from hunger.
We are taught that appetite must be stimulated by one or various aperitifs, cocktails of all kinds, etc., etc., that we need at the end of each meal a strong coffee to perfectly make digestion, sometimes a liquor, some glasses of wine to help the foods so that they **"go down well,"** according to the popular saying, as if the Wise Mother Nature were not capable of stimulating hunger and performing digestions by herself without the help of those toxics.
### Natural Processes Cannot Be Artificially Stimulated
**Appetite and digestion are natural processes, they cannot be artificially provoked**, and when this is done natural laws are disturbed that later make man feel their terrible consequences.
They oblige us to swallow by force from childhood with promises of **"little coins"** for candies, large bowls of hot soup to then continue with plates of meats, fried foods, [translate:tucos], stews, fats, pastas, pastries, etc., etc., all of this in a gross, absurd, anti-hygienic, anti-natural and mistaken form, without taking into account if all those absurd, killer and intoxicating mixtures have affinity with our temperament and health.
### The Harmony of All Things
There exists a harmony perfectly established by all men of science, an affinity of colors, plants, metalloids, music, human souls and **why should there not also exist the Affinity and Harmony of foods?** We are true slaves of traditions, of rites, of true **"Taboos,"** of routine customs in what refers to matters of alimentation that spoil us and form harmful habits from our most tender age, customs that make us sick and age prematurely.
### The Tyranny of Meal Times
We are obliged at such hour of the day or night to sit at the family table, to eat even though we have no appetite, without trying to seek the reason for the lack of the same, in the early morning coffee with milk, also in the afternoon, on Thursday or Sunday, [translate:ravioles] or [translate:tallarines] with [translate:tucos], such party, such birthday, such social, political and religious event must be celebrated with kilos of food, as if really every event were a mere excuse to give free rein to our gluttony.
### The False Cult of the "Healthy" Eater
### The False Cult of the "Healthy" Eater
One speaks with profound admiration of **"so-and-so,"** who is capable of swallowing a suckling pig, kilos of food, an excessive quantity of beer and various bottles of wine, who beats all the "records" of hunger, who has a stomach of iron, a health of oak, he is looked at with envy and one hears murmur with admiration: **"so-and-so overflows health through all his pores, sells health, how happy, how I envy him,"** **"what colors he has and how fat he is."**
It is believed that such a person is wasting health, when what he really has is a terrible intoxication of his organism, excessive gratitude, heaviness, dullness, incapacitated to perform prolonged mental work as well as physical exercise in which there is need to put into action movement, rapidity and agility. **This man is a future and sure candidate for gastric ulcers, cardiac or cerebral attacks, an arteriosclerotic at a fixed date**, his body is swollen as if it were going to explode, he is a true laboratory of poisons.
### The Contempt for Natural Eating
Now on the contrary side one comes to look with certain pity and contempt at the person who eats little and is sparing in those meals, if he is simple and frugal eating only once a day, nourishing himself uniquely on rich fruits and vegetables, one hears said in a low voice: **"poor man, how thin he is!,"** **"he doesn't know how to enjoy life; why does he live, having so many rich things to eat?"**
### The Results
**Results?** The devouring man, the ingurgitator of liquids gets sick later, suddenly, remaining surprised and completely disoriented, living sick until the skilled hands of a surgeon will have to operate an ulcer, cancer, etc., thus spending the last years of his discouraging life, repentant, suddenly aged, one step from the tomb, cursing providence that has treated him so cruelly.
Instead **"the poor man,"** the eater of fruits and vegetables, the man who ate frugally (making of food a necessity and not a pleasure) continues living healthy, happy and confident in Divine Providence, his body has always maintained itself young, he is the admiration of those who have known him for many years.
### Fundamental Principle: We Are What We Eat
For all that is exposed, it is fundamentally necessary to have certain principles, that **we are the result of what we eat**, our body, the carnal dress that we wear as Temple of our Immortal Soul is the result of the foods that we ingest. **If we nourish ourselves with gross, impure, intoxicating, dead, anti-natural foods, we will have a gross, impure, intoxicated, lifeless, sick, heavy, old and ugly body**; instead, **if we nourish ourselves with light, pure, natural and integral foods, we will have a light, pure, natural, fresh and beautiful body**.
### Foods Affect All Levels of Being
### Foods Affect All Levels of Being
The foods that we use for our alimentation perform a role of first magnitude, of supreme transcendence in our life, in our health, our morals, in our mind, heart and our soul. According to the quality of foods that we ingest, such is the quality of the vibrations that these communicate to our body. **The body becomes etheric with natural foods**.
The foods that we ingest not only have the mission of nourishing, tonifying, purifying and vivifying our carnal body, but also all the other **"bodies"** or **"vehicles"** of which every being is formed are nourished by reflection.
In the next number we will see how all these vehicles are nourished with energetic, electric, [translate:pranic] materials, and then we will see that knowledge of such laws will put us in possession of such knowledge, that the conservation of health, happiness and youth will no longer be a secret for us.
**(To be continued)**
**PEACE AND HEALTH TO ALL BEINGS**
---
**Note:** This radical critique of conventional eating habits demonstrates Asuri Kapila's comprehensive understanding of nutrition as spiritual practice. Writing in 1944, he anticipates many insights of modern nutritional science while maintaining the traditional view that food affects not only physical health but all levels of human constitution. His analysis of social conditioning around food consumption shows remarkable psychological insight into how cultural habits perpetuate illness and premature aging.

Protocol of November: documents from Nos. 583 to 615.
### Situation of Disciples
| Status | October 31 | November 30 |

| **Total** | **98** | **94** |
There was thus a decrease of 4 Disciples, who abandoned the realization and, before the end of the year, despite the admission of some new Disciples, the total will drop considerably, since instructions have been imparted to the Representatives to communicate in detail the situation of the Disciples, to define the position of some who do not follow the realization with the necessary discretion, devotion or perseverance. In compensation among those who have followed the Path in the due form and with the necessary purity of intention, very beautiful results were verified.
### EXTRACTS FROM SUDDHA LITERATURE
In compensation among those who have followed the Path in the due form and with the necessary purity of intention, very beautiful results were verified.
### EXTRACTS FROM SUDDHA LITERATURE
**(Continuation of notes by Pandit K.T. Srinivasachariar)**
Let us continue what, about **"The Work of the Hierarchy"** and about **"The Doctrine of Suddha Dharma"** this Acharya exposes to us:
> [translate:"La meta para ser alcanzada por el discípulo que camina por el Sendero Septentrional, es la realización de la omnipresencia de la Divinidad."]
*"The goal to be reached by the disciple who walks the Northern Path, is the realization of the omnipresence of Divinity. The first step toward that realization is the knowledge of Divinity as hidden in the heart of the disciple himself, after which we see in him the conviction that Divinity is always found hidden in the heart of all."*
### The Northern Path and Raja Yoga
The means for that realization constitute **Raja Yoga**, for whose due practice is imperative the parsimony of food and drink. The aspirant begins his pilgrimage on the Northern Path being consecrated under one of the five systems of preliminary initiations; after the necessary probation, during which he practices **[translate:japa]** (intonation of sacred chants along with the mystical syllables that are prescribed for his probationary discipline) and **Saguna Dhyana** (meditation on Divinity under its aspect of concrete form, as aid for true Raja Yoga) he is granted the **Ekakshara or Sacred Letter** (which is distinct for each disciple) under the benign and immediate direction of [translate:Bhagavan Narayana]; upon being intoned this [translate:Ekakshara] along with the sacred chants and mystical syllables, the subtle atoms of his many bodies, physical and subtle reconstituted by the pure and scientific diet, begin to vibrate in rhythm to the light of the Being that shines within.
### The Celibacy Requirement
Upon reaching this stage of his path, **strict celibacy is imposed** in order to confide to him other higher disciplines of Raja Yoga. During Raja Yoga the meditation is made principally on the formless (Nirguna) and transcendental (Suddha) aspects of the Deity.
Considerable progress in such meditation enables the disciple to happily achieve the states of the genuine **Dasas, Thirtas, Brahmas and Anandas**, which are the four principal orders of discipleship.
### The Seven Great Initiations
One after another, the **seven great initiations** are conferred in time, enabling the aspirant to raise his consciousness to the planes of the superior worlds that are invisible to material eyes. This is carried out by the growing faculty that the disciple acquires for the function of his five various subtle bodies:
- **[translate:Annmaya Kosha]** (the dense, but pure, physical body)
- **[translate:Manomaya Kosha]** (the mental body)
- **[translate:Vignamaya Kosha]** (the cognitive body)
- **[translate:Anandamaya Kosha]** (the glorious body)
At this point the disciple, already a Yogi, places himself before the immediate presence of the **Atma or Self** in him, which presides over each of the aforementioned bodies and is called in order: **Ahankara, Jiva, Atma, Paramatma and Purusha**.
### Cosmic Vision and the Tatvic Constitution
When the faculties of his vision develop, he understands the **"tatvic,"** or elemental constitution of the cosmos. Enormous vistas of knowledge open before him and his vision embraces a rapid splendor, if it can be given, of the infinite spectacle of the universe molded and shaped by the **Great Cosmic Hierarchs of the Seven Primary Rays** and the Great Hierarchy under them.
The cosmos with the Cosmic Hierarchy and the Hierarchs and all that relates to them, are but an **[translate:amsa]** (fragment) of Brahman.
### The Infinite Nature of Brahman
Brahman embraces infinity of cosmos, and each cosmos overflows with life, energy and matter. The mutual play of life and matter can be explained simply thus: It is said that **Brahman has two bodies**, one called **Atmic**, that is, spiritual, and the other **Anatmic or Prakritic**, that is, material; both are eternally related and their reciprocal play is incessant and infinite; the energy or power that facilitates this mutual play is called **[translate:shakti]**.
### The Universal Trinity
By derivation from the very nature of Brahman, the **trinity of Life, Force and Matter** ([translate:Atma, Shakti and Prakriti], called collectively [translate:Vastu-trayam]) is the characteristic note of each atom in the universe. Infinite series of such trinities constitute the universe.
### The Four Tatvakutas
The material ([translate:Prakriti]) of a universe is the sum of the twenty-four elements ([translate:tatva]) which, in harmony with their variations of function, are classified into four principal groups, more or less distinct in their procedure.
Each group is technically known as **[translate:tatvakuta]**. Being **Avyakta** the finest of them, it constitutes the first group; the vibrations of Avyakta are such that their rhythm permits the realization of the synthesis (Yoga) of the cosmos to the Being that functions in it.
The next group in order of fineness or subtlety, is called **Mahat**; the vibrations of Mahat are such that their rhythm permits the achievement of infinite science ([translate:Gnana]) to the Being that functions in it.
The group called **Manas** is next in order of fineness; the vibrations of Manas are such that their rhythm permits universal conception of ideas ([translate:Sankalpa]) to the Being that functions in it.
The lowest in order of subtlety is the group called **Indriya**; the vibrations of Indriya are such that their rhythm facilitates the execution of action to the Being that functions in it.
### Ahankara and Human Constitution
The lowest in order of subtlety is the group called **Indriya**; the vibrations of Indriya are such that their rhythm facilitates the execution of action to the Being that functions in it.
### Ahankara and Human Constitution
The element of **Ahankara** is such that it permeates all these four planes of matter, but it belongs for the most part to the Manas group; it is the element by which the Self assumes for the moment a state of separation, an individuality, so to speak, while functioning in matter. The constitution of man includes all these groups, but it is the Indriya group the state in which he is principally certain in his functions, as a result of the particular environment that is his own structure.
### Pravritti and Nivritti
The tendency to express oneself exclusively in exterior action is known as **[translate:pravritti]**, and the tendency to abstain from it is known as **[translate:nivritti]**; in other terms, pravritti can be said to be the descent to the dense of the evolution of the world, while nivritti can be said to be the ascent from there; while the course of the first is toward the analytical and separative, that of the second is toward the synthetic or transcendental.
**[translate:Upakrama] and [translate:Upasamhara]** are respectively other names for the procedures of pravritti and nivritti.
### The Balance of Action and Withdrawal
The being while functioning in any of the four groups of matter, may at that time be engaged in one or the other of the procedures. Both procedures have a definite value in the life of a man and he must not cling exclusively to one of them only; as the need appears, each one must be followed; only the disposition to follow one or the other could be that of complete altruism. Because in the evolution of the world, both prevail, and man, if he aspires to surpass it, must familiarize himself with both; any personal attitude or an attitude of egoism ([translate:Swartha]) will result in man being enslaved to it.
**[translate:Pravritti and Nivritti]**, not infected by personal interest, are said to be **Suddha**, and, if not: **Asuddha**, respectively; while the second forges the chain or slavery, the first comes to end in liberation or freedom.
**(To be continued)**
### Closing Meditation
Upon finishing, for today, this citation of the Teaching of Suddha Dharma, I desire, wholeheartedly to my colleague students of this Way, that they not only read these teachings, but meditate on them long and repeatedly, trying to form clear concepts of what the terms represent, so that, upon continuing this exposition, it will be easy for them to capture their intellectual sense and feel their spiritual content.

**Note:** This sophisticated exposition demonstrates the depth of yogic philosophy being transmitted through the Suddha Dharma Mandalam. The integration of Sanskrit technical terminology with practical organizational statistics shows how ancient wisdom was being systematically adapted for Western practitioners while maintaining its essential integrity. The emphasis on celibacy and dietary discipline reflects the serious commitment required for advanced spiritual practice.
# Document 58: The Martinist Commemorations - Sacred Calendar of the Order
**Translation from [translate:La Iniciación] Vol. 3 No. 21, January 1944**
## The Martinist Commemorations
In accordance with what we explained in the formation of the **"Invisible Chain"** of an Order, Martinism seeks that its adepts, whether individually or collectively, honor through the study of their works, through meditation and through prayer the Great Martinists who distinguished themselves in impersonal and altruistic Service. For some of them it is done on a fixed date, which is that of their disincarnation, being those whom we commemorate in this form the Venerable Masters and Brothers:
### The Sacred Calendar

- **December 19** — **STANISLAS DE GUAITA** (19-12-1897)
- **January 22** — **CEDAIOR** (22-01-1943)

- **June 9** — **ELIPHAS LEVI** (09-06-1875)
- **July 21** — **HENRI DELAAGE** (21-07-1882)
### The Unknown Martinists of South America
On February 21st, when commemorating the disincarnation of **JEAN BAPTISTE WILLERMOZ** (whose figure we commented on in number 10 of [translate:"La Iniciación"]), our thought, our veneration and gratitude is also directed toward Jean Bricaud, and toward all the Unknown Martinists, but for us, **SOUTH AMERICAN** Martinists, naturally the name of the dear Brothers will vibrate in our heart who, besides the Venerable Master Cedaior (who was the connecting link with the epoch and action of PAPUS) worked in our Order and on this Continent, thus forming, within the Invisible Chain of the Order, a closer part, at least in the human and affective aspect, to today's Martinists, of the **"Martinist Order of South America."**
Some of their characteristics are the following:
### South American Martinist Heroes
**CEDAIOR**, deceased January 22, 1943, everyone knows his activity and Figure (Alberto Costet, Count of Mascheville).
**APOLONIO**. Great Poet, historian and Brazilian academic. Founder of the Neo-Pythagorean Institute in [translate:Curityba]. (Professor Darío Velloso).
**APOLONIO**. Great Poet, historian and Brazilian academic. Founder of the Neo-Pythagorean Institute in [translate:Curityba]. (Professor Darío Velloso).

**DE NERVAL**. Deceased in Brazil, where he was initiated and acted in three Martinist Lodges. Decided collaborator of M. Cedaior. (Nerval de Araujo Silva).
**DETTRÉ**. Deceased in Montevideo, on 14-12-1942, where he was an Initiated and dedicated Member of the R.L. [translate:"PAPUS"] (Dr. Alberto Costa Podestá).
**VIOLETA**. Free Martinist, Initiated and deceased on 24-11-1943, in Montevideo (the dear little sister Iris Diana).
### Prayer for the Departed Brothers
Let us honor with our affection and with all our greatest desires for spiritual PEACE and activity in the form that corresponds to their current vibrations and sure that, with the Auspices of their Major Brothers, they are found in their bodies of glory in the legion of Servers of the Divine Master.
**AMEN**
**The Grand Council**
---
**Note:** This sacred calendar establishes the spiritual genealogy of South American Martinism, linking local practitioners to the great tradition while honoring their own pioneers. The inclusion of both famous figures like Papus and Saint Martin alongside local heroes like Cedaior and even recent departures like "little sister Iris Diana" demonstrates the living, ongoing nature of the tradition. The use of esoteric names alongside birth names shows the dual identity maintained by initiates, while the detailed dating provides a framework for yearly commemorative practices that maintain connection with the "Invisible Chain" of the Order.

[translate:Mas la luminosa trayectoria
Que en su eterno correr traza,
Es la senda por donde pasa
Mi vía-crucis expiatoria.]
*But the luminous trajectory
Which in its eternal course it traces,
Is the path through which passes
My expiatory way of the cross.*
[translate:Voy fuerte de Deseo Puro,
Comprendo del Dolor los Goces,
La Bondad de Golpes y Roces;
Y lo recto del Sendero Duro.]
*I go strong with Pure Desire,
I understand the Joys of Pain,
The Goodness of Blows and Friction;
And the rectitude of the Hard Path.*
[translate:Y yo hice el sagrado voto,
De ir por la ruta del Dolor,
Al Templo del Saber, del Amor,
Al Santuario de la Flor de Loto.]
*And I made the sacred vow,
To go by the route of Pain,
To the Temple of Knowledge, of Love,
To the Sanctuary of the Lotus Flower.*
[translate:Yo soy un pobre peregrino,
Errante mendigo de Amor,
A quien acongoja el temor
De no llegar al templo Divino...]
*I am a poor pilgrim,
Wandering beggar of Love,
Whom anguishes the fear
Of not reaching the Divine temple...*

**Note:** This mystical poem, written by Jehel in 1920 when he was likely a young man beginning his spiritual journey, demonstrates the profound personal transformation that accompanied his initiatic development. The imagery draws from both Christian mysticism (the Way of the Cross) and Eastern spirituality (the Lotus Flower sanctuary), showing the syncretic approach characteristic of South American esotericism. The progression from passive suffering to active spiritual seeking, and the paradoxical discovery of joy within pain, reflects the mature mystical understanding that would later inform his role as leader of the Martinist Order of South America.
