Master Papus founded and directed in Paris the magazine "LA INICIACIÓN" which came to have one hundred pages of text in its monthly issues. We have not reached that yet, but we will, supporting ourselves on three secure factors which, in ascending order, are the following:

Three factors that correspond to Form, Force and Wisdom, the three Columns of every Temple.

Initiated eight months ago in the most modest form, mimeographed with an average print run of 250 copies, "LA INICIACIÓN" begins with this issue its second year of life (1943), doubling its print run and almost the number of its pages, presenting itself at the same time, from now on, printed.

This is not a "leap"; it is a healthy, natural, logical growth, fruit of our effort, of the cooperation of many, of the protection already mentioned.

May we be permitted to realize increasingly and better so that everything progressively resembles the action of the Independent Group of Esoteric Studies founded by Papus, and in whose image and likeness ours was founded. These are the vows that the Editorial formulates on this date, and it is for this purpose that it reiterates its request for Diffusion, Collaboration and Subscriptions to all its Friends, as well as to the Initiates of all Initiatic Orders or divulgation organizations, in which Tolerance and Fraternity reign, and for which the pages of "LA INICIACIÓN" remain as always open, as open are our hearts toward those who accept, spread and practice the Supreme Sacred Word:

HISTORICAL FOUNDATION IN PARIS

The Venerable Master Marquis STANISLAS DE GUAITA, together with PAPUS, BARLET, PELADAN and others whom students will come to know in the articles we will publish about this Most Venerable Order, founded the KABBALISTIC ORDER OF THE ROSE CRUZ in the final years of the last century in Paris.

Officially—that is, historically, "looking at papers"—it has been impossible for historians until now to establish any link between this Order and "LA ROSA CRUZ", that is, the Supreme Order that never manifests externally and of which any and every Rosicrucian Order, like this one, is nothing more than an "exteriorization" more or less well realized, according to the purity of intentions, the wisdom of the Initiates, and the intensity of the disinterest of their Service.

THE FRENCH SUCCESSION

In France, until the death of Papus, the direction of this Order was successively in charge of:

Brother TEDER was the link of transmission between the primitive form of work in the times of PAPUS and the new modalities given in France in Service by the successors, Venerable Brothers J. Bricaud and C. Chevillon.

SOUTH AMERICAN INDEPENDENT FOUNDATION

Just as, since 1920, Venerable Brother Cedaior, delegate of the Supreme Council of the Martinist Order, created the bases of what today is the MARTINIST ORDER OF SOUTH AMERICA, so also this same Brother installed, on March 22, 1927, in the city of Curitiba (Brazil), the KABBALISTIC ORDER OF THE ROSE CROSS with complete independence from its European continuation and for the same reasons.

THE EUROPEAN CRITICISM AND SOUTH AMERICAN RESPONSE

Among the principal descendants of the initiatic way reorganized by PAPUS, there are those who, in Europe, have already written that the work of Papus resembled that which "in the animal kingdom constitutes the class of invertebrates." If there were no other good reasons, this alone would suffice for the feeling of the European branch and that which we have created on this Continent to not be the same.

How would it be possible to cultivate real devotion for the divine and the superior, if we were not first capable of feeling respect for the sacrifices and marvelous realizations of the Masters who preceded us?

THE SACRED FOUNDATION PRINCIPLES

For this reason, when the bases of the KABBALISTIC ORDER OF THE ROSE CROSS were constructed on March 22, 1927, the directives traced by Stanislas de Guaita and his collaborators in the first and fruitful hour were entirely respected.

MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS

The members of the Kabbalistic Order of the Rose Cross must meet the following conditions:

a) Prerequisites: Be Superior Unknowns of the Martinist Order to be able to enter the first degree of the O.K.R.C.

b) Progressive Development:

Make the studies
Pass through the practical tests
Produce the realizations that constitute the conditions and thesis of examination
Through which one passes successively to the THREE degrees of the Kabbalistic Order of the Rose Cross:
Bachelor in Kabbalah
Licentiate in Kabbalah
Doctor in Kabbalah

THE PRACTICAL NATURE OF DEGREES

These are not theoretical, intellectual degrees only. They are, precisely, the opposite: practical degrees, in which KNOWLEDGE must be proven by WILL, this confirmed by DARING, and all synthesized in KEEPING SILENCE—that is, in an ACTIVE SILENCE.

It is in this Active Silence that Venerable Master CEDAIOR continues the work as President of the Kabbalistic Order of the Rose Cross.

THE MONTEVIDEO DELEGATION

To apply other parts of the mentioned motto, Dr. Jehel takes the General Delegation of the O.K.R.C., with headquarters in Montevideo, place in which on the date of December 25, 1942, the Traditional Ceremony will be performed, destined to set in motion the influence of the Great Christic Tradition.

Afterwards, as was always done in the O.K.R.C., each member will return to silent action, working, serving, realizing for others, In His Name.

THE TEACHING PROGRAM

Periodically, the readers of "LA INICIACIÓN" will receive, through collaborations of Brothers of the O.K.R.C., teachings and directives so that approximation to the Sanctuary is facilitated for them, in the measure of their constructive efforts and persevering sacrifices in Service.

May ELÍAS ARTISTA illuminate them, may the Christic Spirit enlighten them, may the meekness of their hearts guide them, are my most fraternal wishes, so that the number of those constantly increases who, starting from the knowledge of the mind, passing through the sacrifice of the heart, arrive at the Synthesis of Light, which in the West we call Illumination and in the East Union with the Atman.

THE ETERNAL VIGILANTS OF HUMAN EVOLUTION

Under the direction of Bhagavan Náráyana, the great Hierarchs of our race, eternal vigilants of its necessities, emerge from remote ages from their sacred retirement among the Himalayas, and from time to time supply more visible help and wellbeing to suffering humanity.

During the first period of the Kali-Yuga (Black Age), twelve thousand years ago to date, they constituted themselves anew under His divine influence, having as their unique motto: to enable humanity to advance more rapidly than before on the path that must lead it to its ultimate goal.

THE ANCIENT ASSEMBLY REVEALED

"SUDDHA DHARMA MANDALAM" is the name of this August Assembly of Hierarchs. Its existence and constitution was known, until recently, only to a few superior initiates among men.

However, in 1915, broader publicity was permitted and Dr. Subramani Iyer was chosen to make the first public announcement regarding this ancient Esoteric Organization, its construction, its principles, and its objectives.

THE EXTERNAL INITIATOR AUTHORITY

Dr. Swami Subrahmaniayananda (mystical name of Dr. S. Iyer) was initiated as a member of the Suddha Dharma Mandalam on May 7, 1915, and was invested with the insignia corresponding to the Authority of External Initiator.

Other higher initiations were conferred upon him in 1915 and in 1923, during the Maha-Yagna (Great Sacrifice) on ritual date. On this matter, we will give special information to those who dedicate themselves to the mystical path, opportunely.

THE TRANSITION PERIOD

On December 5, 1924, at 8 hours and 40 minutes, Dr. Swami Subrahmaniayananda died at "Guindy House"; and until today there is no knowledge that the Great Hierarchs of the S.D.M. have conferred upon another Initiate the Authority of External Initiator.

THERE IS THEREFORE, CURRENTLY NO EXTERNAL INITIATOR of the Suddha Dharma Mandalam. There exist, however, some study centers, regularly founded in the time when the Most Venerated Subrahmaniayananda lived.

THE CURRENT AUTHORIZATION

The one who signs this article has received, from the Chilean Section of the Suddha Dharma Mandalam, the due authorization to divulge the elementary teachings of said Association and also abundant material to distribute to sincere students of the spiritual path of Yoga. This, in what refers to the human and visible organization.

On the other hand, the one who signs these lines has received by other means the secret and practical part to guide those who wish to truly serve toward union with the superior and internal part, under the auspices of the Great Hierarchies.

THE PRACTICAL SERVICE COMMITMENT

I cannot initiate anyone in the Suddha Dharma Mandalam, for I have not merited such Authority, but the fact of having received special indications, which carried to practice have permitted "linking," if one wants to call it thus, some pure hearts with the influence of the S.D.M., has created for me the duty to continue doing so, with love, discernment, and fraternal effort to serve.

It is for this reason that to my Brothers of the Martinist Orders and of the O.K.R.C., as well as to all the sincere and disinterested of this continent and especially on the Atlantic side, I will try to be useful in this path, which is one of those that most easily permits Western man to assimilate the marvelous teaching of yoga, in its philosophical and mystical aspects, synthesized in a clear, practical, and precise path.

THE NATAL CHART ANALYSIS

This natal map presents a series of afflictions in the common signs, which indicates that, despite everything, the illness being suffered can be dominated in great part by the native's effort.

Mars in the sign that governs the intestines, being in square with Saturn, clearly indicates an intestinal obstruction accompanied by inflammation in said organs, which, together with the bad aspect of Jupiter, shows a slow but persistent poisoning of the arterial circulation, which is the cause of pains and discomfort in the hips and thighs.

RESPIRATORY SYSTEM ANALYSIS

As Saturn is found in the sign that dominates the lungs and receives bad aspect from Mars and Jupiter, it shows that the oxygenation of the blood is deficient, while respiratory gymnastics is needed. Exhalation Phase: Then give outlet to the air slowly through the slow contraction of the belly muscles.

Purifying Exercise: At the end of the exercise, practice the purifying respiration of the lungs, which is the following: after filling the lungs in the manner described above, make a light rotation of the shoulders and then launch the air with force through the mouth, putting the lips in the form of launching a whistle, but taking care to launch it by contraction of the belly in intermittent form, not continuous.

DIGESTIVE SYSTEM TREATMENT

The intestinal functions are regularized by the adoption of a natural diet, with much vegetables and fruits, in addition to integral bread in meals and sour milk in the morning on an empty stomach, which will strengthen and disinfect the intestines, permitting at the same time the purification of the arterial blood, improving circulation in general.

NERVOUS SYSTEM STRENGTHENING

The indicated exercises, together with others that we will indicate opportunely, will strengthen the nervous system, since there is lack of nervous energy due to weakness of the solar plexus, which is one of the principal batteries of energy within our organism.

All this will favor the stomach, which is somewhat weak and suffers from nervous contractions, as shown by the action of Uranus on the planets that are in the regent sign of the stomach, Cancer.

MENTAL AND SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT

If you practice with perseverance what is indicated, and cultivate at the same time the spiritual side, favoring the correct expression of mental energy, you will see many of the noted defects disappear.

As we do not have the birth time, we cannot determine the general regent, but the mental characteristics are clearly indicated by Mercury, the planet of reason, and the Moon that dominates the brain.

Mercury is practically without aspects and the Moon is in good aspects with Neptune, the Sun and Venus, indicating that the physical brain is normal and that art will be a favorable line of effort for the native.

MYSTICAL AND TEMPERAMENTAL ANALYSIS

The good Moon-Neptune aspect indicates the capacity for elevated mystical questions, although the adverse Jupiter-Saturn-Mars aspect will distance the native from the current conception of Religion.

The last mentioned aspect endows him with a temperament inclined to melancholy and irritability, although the good aspect of Uranus to Jupiter on one side and with Saturn on the other, endows him with very good qualities for mysticism in general.

GLANDULAR FUNCTION ANALYSIS

Regarding the functioning of the internal glands, we see that Uranus opposed to the Sun alters the normal functions of the spleen, which strengthens what was said previously regarding the nervous system.

Jupiter, which rules the suprarenals in opposition to Saturn, provokes an obstruction of these diminutive glands and consequently endows him with a taciturn and little jovial temperament in general.

PROGNOSIS AND FINAL RECOMMENDATIONS

Despite what it may seem, this lady will achieve a sure improvement if she follows the given indications, since by correcting the nervous system, the improvement will be total and general in its effects.

34th Point: We see that fifteen companions—that is, "fifteen," to refer to the 15th card of the Tarot: "The Devil"—the temptation of pride that threatens any Initiate, however elevated he may be and while he remains Initiate, not yet Adept; that is, while his "soul" (personal feelings) continues to make him pass constant tests of "renunciation," of "depersonalization."

They are fifteen and they are "Companions"—that is, as I already explained in item 29 (see previous number of "LA INICIACIÓN"), they must still cultivate devotional feeling and "merit" an elevation, not "demand" it through irreverent or violent means. Initiation of Elevation is always and only the fruit of KNOWLEDGE inculcated by the Warmth of Love, of Meekness and of Devotion.

THE COSMIC LAW OF TWELVE AND THREE

35th Point: Of the fifteen conspirators, twelve—that is, the part that feels the natural harmony, the cosmic and zodiacal law—renounce the projected attack, but three, image of the inferior principles, insist and carry it out.

36th Point: It is very notable that, to attack Hiram, they await the hour when he goes to pray, while the workers eat and rest. Beautiful symbol that, if the great majority forgets, despises or neglects the devotional or spiritual part of life to "eat and rest"—image of interest, indifference and laziness—this very thing makes it necessary that the true Initiate, like Hiram, goes to pray and work in the Temple, so that his sacrifice compensates and redeems the disinterest of the masses. 37th Point: We saw in the Legend of Hiram that, one after another, each traitorous companion demands from Hiram the Word of Master—that is, the Knowledge and Power of the Adept. The second attacker, Jubelos, symbolizes MENDACITY, a more serious step than the previous, for the Ignorant deforms truth unconsciously, but the Liar corrupts it with deliberate purpose. He is the most abundant enemy, the enemy of the middle plane; he lies through fanaticism, he deludes and lies to himself through vanity or through premature desire to know what he does not yet deserve to know, he lies to others to appear wiser or holier than he is.

He is the image of the politician deforming justice for his own benefit, of the bad priest corrupting dogma for material ends, of the Initiate prostituting Truth for interest, vanity or ambition for powers. All of them attack Truth in the CHEST—that is, no longer in its FORM, like the previous one, but in its LIFE, in its effects, in its applications, in its LAWS.

THIRD ATTACKER: JUBELAM - CONSCIOUS EVIL

The third attacker, JUBELAM (plural ending, careful), is the image of enemies who are fully conscious, knowers of Truth who deform it through HATRED OF GOOD; they are the Black Magicians, the Venal or Corrupted Associations, who attack Truth, no longer in its FORM, no longer in its LIFE or LAW, but even in its very PRINCIPLE.

THE PROGRESSIVE DAMAGE ANALYSIS

The Ignorant is prejudicial to himself and his fellow being, in daily life, especially in the material and practical aspect.

The Liar or Ill-intentioned additionally wounds the MORAL bases of Society, of the Individual and of Evolution.

But THE ENVIOUS, human devil, tries to wound divinity itself, whether denying it, or deforming all its manifestations, to try to substitute them with the deification of Evil.

THE DEATH AND EXILE OF TRUTH

39th Point: And this attack on form, on law or life, and finally on the very principle of Truth, produces the death of Hiram. REVELATION flees from the place where it is not possible to translate itself as it should, as Pythagoras said in his golden verses: "When injustice reigns, the wise man is silent and withdraws."

40th Point: But, if it is possible to commit a crime, it is not easy to bear the reaction that it always causes in the environment, and it is in the fulfillment of this Law that the exile of Truth (Body of Hiram) drags with it that of its murderers who, to hide it, have to flee "by night"—that is, with the dangers that the obscurantism originated by their own acts has caused.

THE PRESERVATION IN HIGH PLACES

41st Point: The "apparently lost" truth, or if you will, its hidden conservators, remain like the body of Hiram, "buried" in a mountain—that is, in high, elevated and barren places, where Nature, for lack of other means, suffices to conserve the Truth that is THE NATURAL LAW.

SOLOMON'S SEARCH FOR TRUTH

42nd Point: But SOLOMON, image as we know of Wisdom and SANCTITY, is concerned about the absence of the Spiritual Director of the Collectivity and sends twelve Companions, those who had "passed through temptation and conquered it," having also confessed it, which shows that they were sincere and humble.

43rd Point: These twelve Companions now remain divided into four groups of three individuals each. This is the image of carnal man (four is the concrete form) conscious of his three constituent principles—that is, theoretical knowers of doctrine who depart in search of Superior Truth believing that intellectual knowledge and a small conquered temptation suffices to merit such eternal prize.

44th Point: Each Group goes toward one of the Cardinal Points; beautiful image that truth can be found EVERYWHERE, provided one seeks it with pure intentions and constancy never denied.

45th Point: One of the groups followed a river, toward the mountains—that is, departing from civilization, in which it lived and from the external life to which it was accustomed, it went "upstream" toward the SOURCE of Life, to find the Principle of Things.

FINDING THE DEFORMERS BEFORE THE TRUTH

46th Point: But they did not find it. They found only the murderers—that is, whoever seeks Truth, long before finding it, will have to face in his investigations the diverse deformations and mutilations it suffered in time and space.

47th Point: And in a cavern they heard the lamentations of the murderers and their remorse asking for punishment. Image that we will also find in the search the CAUSES (murderers) of the deformations and we will see that they themselves brought punishment upon THE INDIVIDUALS, THE SOCIETIES, THE NATIONS OR THE RACES that committed them. Unforgettable lesson, or at least one that should be unforgotten by whoever seeks Truth and must learn to apply each particle of it that he is permitted to receive, if he does not want to be a "deformer" and pay the just price of such a fault.

48th Point: We also see that the Companions, even without having found Hiram (the total Truth) yet, nevertheless capture the murderers and bring them before whoever does justice. This shows us that each of the most important stages of initiation will be that of serving in the sense of putting in evidence the cause of social and individual evils and of conducting those causes, individual or collective, before the Kings or Initiates—that is, the Civil and Initiatic Powers that can correct the evil or prevent its propagation.

To make such action requires courage and struggle—that is, will and daring—and it is what, in this form, the Legend of Hiram also teaches us.

From the individual point of view of personal evolution, it is the image that we have to bring the Guilty ones (Passions, Errors, Illusions, Ambitions, etc.) before the Judge and Lord (CONSCIENCE AND WILL) so that it puts remedy and barriers to the deformant action that impedes the revelation of Truth.

COMPLETION OF THE HOROSCOPE DIAGRAM

In the previous article we completed our diagrams and all the Signs of the Zodiac and the planets that compose the HOROSCOPE THEME or ASTROLOGICAL RADICAL for the moment of birth were definitively placed.

As readers will be able to observe in the previous number of the Magazine (No. 8), the complete diagram also includes the classification of the Planets and their mutual aspects. We are going to begin today to study this technical part, which is the last we need before being able to INTERPRET a horoscope.

CARDINAL SIGNS CLASSIFICATION

CARDINALS: You will remember that the Signs of the Zodiac were classified as Cardinal, Fixed, and Common.

We will inscribe, then, following the word "Cardinals," all the Planets that, in our theme, are found in the signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra or Capricorn, which are the 4 signs called Cardinals (see Magazine No. 2).

In said theme, we find: in Aries – no Planet; in Cancer – are Jupiter and Venus; in Libra – no planets; in Capricorn – is the Wheel of Fortune.

We have, then, in CARDINAL SIGNS: Jupiter, Venus and the Wheel of Fortune.

FIXED SIGNS CLASSIFICATION

FIXED: Using the same procedure for the Fixed Signs, which are those that follow the Cardinals in the natural order of the Zodiac, that is, TAURUS, LEO, SCORPIO AND AQUARIUS, we will see that in them are found the following Planets:

In Fixed signs: the MOON, SUN and MERCURY.

COMMON SIGNS CLASSIFICATION

COMMON: Making the same operation for the Common Signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces), we will see that we find in them the following planets:

In Common Signs: SATURN, URANUS, NEPTUNE and MARS.

And with this we have the TEN PLANETS of modern Astrology—that is, including Neptune, Uranus and the Wheel of Fortune—duly classified by their placement within the Cardinal, Fixed or Common Signs.

ELEMENTAL CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM

But we also saw that the Signs of the Zodiac were classified in another form, which is by "element"—that is, Signs of Air, Fire, Water and Earth—and we will do the same as previously.

AIR SIGNS

SIGNS OF AIR: Gemini, Libra and Aquarius are the Air Signs; we find in them the Planets: URANUS and SATURN, which we inscribe in the diagram.

FIRE SIGNS

SIGNS OF FIRE: In the Fire Signs, which are: Aries, Leo and Sagittarius, we find the Planets: MOON, SUN and MERCURY (the three are in LEO).

WATER SIGNS

SIGNS OF WATER: The Water Signs are Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces, and in them we find in this theme: JUPITER and VENUS (in Cancer), which we also note by putting the symbols of these planets in front of the word "WATER" in the "Elements" column of the Diagram.

EARTH SIGNS

SIGNS OF EARTH: Finally, the Signs of the Earth Element are: Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn, and in them we find MARS, NEPTUNE and THE WHEEL OF FORTUNE, all of which we note symbolically as we did previously with the other classifications.

ESSENTIAL DIGNIFICATION SYSTEM

We see in the diagram that the following classification is indicated by the word "ESSENTIALLY DIGNIFIED", whose abbreviation is: Es. Dig.

When is a Planet Essentially Dignified?

When it is in its domicile—that is, in the Sign of the Zodiac of which it is the natural Ruler—and this we can find in diagram "F" in number 3 of "LA INICIACIÓN", by which we see that according to whether the birth was diurnal or nocturnal, we will have the following Domiciles:

Neptune is considered domiciled or Es. Dig. in Pisces
Uranus in the same conditions when it is in Aquarius
Saturn, with diurnal domicile in Aquarius and nocturnal in Capricorn
Jupiter with diurnal domicile in Pisces and nocturnal in Sagittarius
Mars with diurnal domicile in Aries and nocturnal in Scorpio
Sun with unique domicile in Leo
Venus with diurnal domicile in Taurus and nocturnal in Libra
Mercury with diurnal domicile in Gemini and nocturnal in Virgo

According to this rule, our horoscope example presents only one ESSENTIALLY DIGNIFIED Planet: the SUN, which is found in Leo, and we inscribe it, then, following the words Es. Dig. in the diagram.

Many astrologers consider that a Planet is accidentally dignified in many cases that are governed by the following rules:

The Five Rules of Accidental Dignification

1st Rule (Most Important): When the Planet is found in an Angular House—that is, in the 1st, 4th, 7th or 10th House.

2nd Rule: When its march is direct in the signs (that it is not retrograde); this accidental dignification is little used.

3rd Rule: When the Planet is found closer than any other to the Midheaven Point—that is, in the 9th or 10th House, but very close to the Midheaven point.

4th Rule: Being one of the Superior Planets (Neptune, Uranus, Saturn, Jupiter or Mars), it rises before the Sun, which is easily seen in the radical.

5th Rule: When there is "mutual reception" with a benefic planet—that is, that each of the two planets considered are found "in the domicile of the other," which constitutes a kind of mutual and simultaneous visit, without meeting, but which is proof of sympathy.

PRACTICAL APPLICATION IN THE EXAMPLE

In the diagram of the example, to not complicate things, we have applied only Rule 1, which is the most important, and we have found VENUS and the MOON accidentally dignified for being found both in the 7th House.

Regarding "mutual visits," or better said, "mutual reception" of domiciles, as astrologers say, there is none in our example.

Therefore, what refers to "Accidental Dignity" remains clarified, leaving readers also free to apply the five rules previously given for this matter, although practically, the 1st and 5th seem to us the only indispensable ones.

Important Note: We ask you to also notice that, as occurs in this example, two Planets can be dignified in THE SAME HOUSE OF THE THEME without therefore being in the same sign (Venus in Cancer and Moon in Leo, but both in the Seventh House of the example).
