# Document 32: The Venerable Figure of Master Cedaior - Brazilian Period (1924-1932)

**Translation from "La Iniciación" Vol. 2 No. 16-17, August-September 1943**

**5th Article by JEHEL, S∴I∴**

## The Venerable Figure of Master Cedaior (5th Article)

At the end of 1924, more precisely on November 30, 1924, Brother Jehel arrived in Brazil, returning from a two-year stay in Europe, where he had accomplished three things: his military service, thus paying to France for his first education, the mission received of investigating the state of the Martinist and Kabbalistic Rose Cross Orders in the Old Continent and, finally, he had married a Parisian, a supremely pure and mystical person, who in the Orders became known as Sister Lotusia. With his return, a new epoch of activities began.

### The Monte Sol Colony Experiment

Effectively, Jehel and Lotusia went to establish themselves in the middle of the jungle, in the "Monte Sol Colony," but, after a short time, given the absolute laziness of the few "naturist colonists" who had presented themselves and the malarial fever that reigned there, attacking the colonists, Lotusia and Jehel, despite all being vegetarians and almost exclusively frugivorous, Jehel became convinced of the futility of struggling in such conditions of inferiority.

Cedaior also tired of struggling against the too hot climate, and, by common agreement, all moved toward the plateaus of Paraná, to the beautiful city of Curityba, in which Cedaior already had relations by correspondence with the Pastor and Philosopher Darío Velloso.

### The Curityba Period and Martinist Revival

In Curityba, Jehel urged for the revivification of the Martinist Order and since Darío Velloso (XDR|8) was S∴I∴IV, initiated by Papus and had even been named in 1904, by Patent Charter No. 141, as General Sovereign Delegate for Brazil, by the Supreme Council presided over by Papus, he was invited to take part in such a movement of reorganization of the Order on the Continent.

Brother Darío, who had already attempted, without great success, something similar in much earlier years and had abandoned all of it to dedicate himself to the foundation of his Neo-Pythagorean Institute, declared he was not disposed to new struggles, in view of his age and state of health, and the functions of his position were by him left to the care of Cedaior as well.

### Historical Photograph and Initiatic Credentials

He remained, however, always being a dedicated friend of Cedaior and Jehel, and it is with emotion that we offer today to our readers a historical photograph, taken in 1926 in the Library of the "Temple of the Muses" of the Neo-Pythagorean Institute. This photograph has today an emotive value all the more appreciable as the three initiates who figure in it have already returned to the Astral; and they are:

**Standing:** the Venerable Master Cedaior giving the "pianissimo" final of Handel's largo.

**At the piano:** Ida Hoffman.

**Seated:** Master Darío Velloso.

**Initiatically, the characteristics of these three initiates are these:**

- **Darío Velloso (Apolonio):** C∴K∴(30∴) N∴|P∴ S∴I∴IV

- **Ida Hoffman (Peregrina):** 33∴ O∴T∴O∴ R+C (Steiner-Reuss school)

- **Cedaior:** 33∴ S∴I∴VII – Dr. Kab∴ – M.S.T. – C∴E∴P∴ – O.E.O. – O∴T∴O∴ – Bishop of the Gnostic Church – General Sovereign Delegate of the Martinist Order – President of the Kabbalistic Rose Cross Order (the last two for South America)

### New Initiations and Important Events

During the year 1925, Cedaior and Jehel initiated some new Martinists and several of them are active Initiators in turn.

Two new facts intercalate at this height of the Master's life, both of utmost importance:

**1st)** Ida Hoffman had never lost hope of succeeding in establishing the collaboration between Cedaior – spiritually rich and materially poor – with the ex-founder of the naturist Sanatorium of Monte Verità, the Belgian millionaire Henri Oedenkoven. Precisely in the year 1925, the latter arrived in Brazil and after touring a great part of the enormous country in a campaign "Ford," had acquired great extension of lands in the state of Goiás.

Precisely in the year 1925, the latter arrived in Brazil and after touring a great part of the enormous country in a campaign "Ford," had acquired great extension of lands in the state of Goiás.

**2nd)** At the same time arrived in Curityba the family of Pastor Brepohl, whose eldest daughter – today our Sister Lorelair – and Cedaior rapidly recognized each other as beings destined to unite, as they effectively did celebrate shortly afterward. Lorelair would constitute from then on the most admirable companion that the Master could have dreamed of, since her value as Woman, Initiate and Mother is worthy of all homages, besides her extraordinary resistance to the onslaughts of life, as she would later prove in the existence of continuous material struggles alongside Cedaior, to whom she would give five more beautiful children (4 males and finally a daughter).

### The Goiás Colony Venture

In 1926, after a "deliberative Council" in which the only discordant vote was Jehel's, it was resolved to attempt the foundation of a Colony in Goiás and there marched in "vanguard": Cedaior, Lorelair, Lotusia and Jehel, followed closely by another Martinist, the (now deceased) brother Nerval and his family.

In Goiás, some rare elements were initiated for Martinism and a Lodge came to be founded (Resp∴ Lodge "Papus", Jehel, Fil∴ Desc∴).

### The Colony's Complete Failure

The colony matter resulted in a complete failure, since the naturist Oedenkoven did not fulfill his promises, neither of doctrinal nor material order. It suffices to say that, after having even gone hungry in Goiás, Nerval and his family returned to São Paulo; Lorelair and Cedaior went again toward the state of Paraná, and Jehel and Lotusia remained some more time in Goiás, until paying the debts that existed by virtue of the material abandonment provoked by Oedenkoven.

It is lamentable that the necessity of being synthetic in this biographical sketch of Master Cedaior prevents me from relating passages, some beautiful, others almost tragic, of his struggles in such conditions, in climates so difficult to bear for a European of some age and with the continuous disillusions of his collaborators.

### Return to Paraná and New Losses

After establishing himself for some time in Lapa (Paraná), place in which Cedaior received the notice of the total loss of the marvelous Library gathered by him, Peregrina and Jehel, there also occurred the death of Ida Hoffman, whose last months of life could not have the joy of seeing her ideal of naturist-spiritualist colony realized.

Cedaior already had one more child and Jehel a girl when both in Curityba (again) organized more broadly the Martinism, which already counted with Initiates in various States of Brazil and with a Lodge functioning in Curityba (Resp∴ Log∴ "Hermanubis", Fil∴ Desc∴ Jehel) which had been founded in 1925, before the departure toward Goiás.

### The Period of Separation (1927-1931)

### The Period of Separation (1927-1931)

From 1927 to 1931, Cedaior and Jehel lived almost always in different cities and the Master worked on his lost manuscripts on seismology, the new race, the Olympic doctrine, etc., while the children grew, who in 1931 were already two.

In 1931, both reunited again in the South of Brazil, first in Caxias, then in Porto Alegre.

### Masonic Reform Efforts

At this height begins the strongest movement within Martinism; Cedaior is now, besides his personal studies on the new race, occupied in trying to give Brazilian Masonry a renewal of spirituality and above all a spirit of union. We will not insist on such attempts, in which many Martinists received orders to work actively and did so, without achieving very broad results.

### Material Relief and Final Period

In 1932, Cedaior was materially aided by a "big lottery win" (bought on a day of absolute misery by indication of Lorelair, who was already in that epoch an excellent astrologer) and thus lived some times of relative tranquility in a country house that he built in the surroundings of Porto Alegre, city in which his three last children were born.

His initiatic Martinist activity is relative, but his spiritual influence is ever greater, since his ample point of view already makes it difficult for him to adapt to a determined method; what he seeks is to develop in beings the reception of the human path through reincarnations in ever better conditions by being ever more conscious.

For this reason, Conscious Procreation and the preparation of Mothers and fathers disposed to feel and live it would remain his fundamental preoccupation.

# Document 33: Hebrew Alphabet - Final Letters and Kabbalistic Analysis

**Translation from "La Iniciación" Vol. 2 No. 16-17, August-September 1943**

**Teachings of Jehel, S∴I∴**

## Commentaries on the First Degree of Martinism: Hebrew Alphabet (Conclusion)

### TSADÉ (Tz)

**Sign of finality and termination.** It refers to all ideas of division, of term, of solution, of goal. Placed at the beginning of words, it indicates the movement that leads toward the term, of which it is the sign. Placed at the end of the word, it marks the very term toward which it led and then receives a special graphic form.

It derives from the character Theth, and from the core Zain and equally marks the separation from one and the other.

**Correspondence:** Chaos. The material body and its passions. Matter. Arrival of involution. **Ts. 18th letter, value 90, corresponds to Aquarius**.

### COPH or COF (K/Q)

**Eminently comprehensive, astringent and cutting sign.** Image of the agglomerating or repressing form. It is the character CAF entirely materialized and applying itself to purely physical objects. Here is the progression of the signs:

- **HE:** Universal life.

- **HETH:** Elementary existence, nature's effort.

- **CAPH:** Assimilated life, linked to natural, material forms.

It is the character CAF entirely materialized and applying itself to purely physical objects. Here is the progression of the signs:

- **HE:** Universal life.

- **HETH:** Elementary existence, nature's effort.

- **CAPH:** Assimilated life, linked to natural, material forms.

- **COPH:** Material existence, giving the medium of forms.

This simple letter responds to the sign of Pisces.

**Correspondence:** The elements; nutrition, digestion; the mineral kingdom. **K, Q. 19th letter, value 100**.

### RESCH (R)

**Sign of all proper movement, good or bad.** Original and frequentative sign. Image of the renewal of things, in terms of their movement.

**Correspondence:** Awakening of Nature under the influence of the Verb. Proper and determining movement. Respiration, vegetative life. The vegetable kingdom. Saturn. **R, 20th letter, value 200**.

### SCHIN or SHIN (Sh/Ch)

**Sign of relative duration and of the movement that refers to it.** This character derives from the vocal sound Zain passed to the consonant state and it joins to its original expression the respective meanings of the characters Zain and Samech (which showed direct movement and circular movement, while this shows once again a direct movement, like a seesaw between one pole and another, with an intermediate point of equilibrium).

**Mother Letter.** Correspondence: The Movement of relative duration; Instinct, innervation, the animal kingdom. **21st letter, value 300: Sh, Ch**.

### THAU (Th)

**Sign of reciprocity.** Sign of all that is mutual and reciprocal. **Sign of Signs.** Joining, to the abundance of the character Daleth, the force of resistance and protection of the character Teth, the idea of perfection, of which it itself is the symbol.

**Correspondence:** The Absolute, enclosed in itself: God, Man and Nature. **Th, 22nd letter, value 400**.

## Completion of Elementary Kabbalistic Study

With these details, what corresponds to be known by the beginner in Kabbalistic studies ends, as is the Martinist of the First Degree. When, in commenting on the studies of the Second Martinist Degree, it falls to us to return to Kabbalah, we will see more closely the profound symbolism that the Tarot contains.

But, from now on, any of our students or Readers can meditate on what these 22 meanings of the primitive Hebrew letters contain, firstborn daughters of the Secret Language of the Egyptian Temples, which is the interpretation that "square Hebrew" or Aramaic lent them so that with that more occidental "dress" they could make more intelligible to the minds of our predecessors and until today to ours, the universal correspondences.

## Practical Example: Kabbalistic Analysis of ADAM

So that our students may have an idea of the value these elements have for Kabbalistic meditation, I will give an example of what through them can be "extracted" from the analysis of a sacred term.

Let us take for example **ADAM**. We would have:

Let us take for example **ADAM**. We would have:

**1st. ALEF:** Primitive and eternal Unity. Supreme stability.

**DALETH:** Abundance born of division, the soul of the Universe.

**2nd. ALEF:** Secondary and resultant stability, posterior to multiplication.

**MEM (final):** Collectivity developed in indefinite space, comprehending under the same relation all beings of identical nature.

Could one desire a better division of the primitive "Adam," of that hominal being, one and indivisible in "nature," plural manifestation of eternal and primitive Unity, soul of the Universe and who must learn the lesson of acting harmoniously as real collectivity of beings comprehended under the same relation?

### Extended Analysis Possibilities

This analysis could be carried much further, as we will do, when we return to the study of Kabbalah. For now, in next articles, we will occupy ourselves with the human being and his constitution, since it is another point of the study program of the First Martinist Degree.

But, the notions already acquired here will always reappear, since that unity of principle, that unity of organicity of laws and that unity of organization of effects or forms will demonstrate themselves, when examining that sacred and exact living theorem that is Humanity whose demonstration always leads to the adoration of its First Cause:

**EL** – The – Gods: **ELOHIM**.

# Document 34: Practical Course in Judicial Astrology - Complete Correspondences

**Translation from "La Iniciación" Vol. 2 No. 16-17, August-September 1943**

**Teachings of Surya, S∴I∴**

## Practical Course in Judicial Astrology (Continuation)

The study of the "why" that corresponds to determined Signs and Planets, such or which colors, numbers, perfumes, metals and stones, would take us much beyond what we should treat in this elementary course. It suffices to know that such correspondences have been determined by two principal means: one, the direct vision of the "aura" that such or which physical objects have; another: the "analogy" that said bodies present, in their physical form or in their properties, with the Sign or Planet to which they have been attributed and which is verifiable, for the esoteric observer, in the details of their physical contexture, what is called the "astral signature."

### Understanding Astrological Correspondences

For example, sad plants, of grayish color, of disagreeable odor, etc., are "Saturnian," those that have small flowers, of vivid colors, varied or variable, etc., are Mercurial, etc., and, in practice, it is verified that, whether for therapeutic purposes or for "talismanic" purposes, these correspondences have evidenced themselves as having a basis of reality that the chemical study of the composition of said bodies could confirm in part, but not completely since, in human beings the same happens: determined persons have more active secretions, precisely from the organs that respond to their natal chart, so that to think that they have such temperament because they have such secretion is "to think backwards," since the truth is that they have such secretion or lack of it, because they have such basic tendency, which astrology demonstrates.

The same occurs with beings of the other kingdoms. That already shows an "affinity," resemblance or analogy, which is the key to this chart of colors, perfumes, metals and plants, which is not complete, containing some of the correspondences, for example and usual practice. When we study each Sign and Planet, we will find more details on the same theme.

**Translation from "La Iniciación" Vol. 2 No. 16-17, August-September 1943**

**By Asuri Kapila, S∴I∴**

## Progressive Course in Asana Yoga (Continuation)

### TRIKONASANA

The asana that we present in this number to our readers is denominated **TRIKONASANA**, which means "**posture of the three angles**."

## TECHNIQUE

**First Movement:** Being in vertical position, with feet together and with arms naturally extended at the sides of the body, separate the right foot laterally until the distance of sixty centimeters making the body weight rest on both legs.

**Second Movement:** Extend the arms laterally until shoulder height, at the same time that a lateral flexion movement of the body is executed toward the right, keeping the left leg well extended and without lifting the foot from the ground, bending the right knee and grasping with the fingers of the right hand the big toe of the corresponding foot.

**Third Movement:** Incline the head laterally, until touching the right shoulder. All these movements are very clearly indicated in Fig. 13.

**Fourth Movement:** Remain in this position for three minutes, looking at the big toe of the right foot.

**Fifth Movement:** Executing the inverse movements, return to the initial position.

This exercise should be executed slowly and alternately toward the right side and the left.

## BENEFITS DERIVED FROM TRIKONASANA

The beneficial effects obtained from this asana are the following:

**1st.** Increases the elasticity and consequently the natural flexibility of the spinal column, which is necessary for the perfect execution of the other asanas.

**2nd.** Tonification of the spinal nerves and, as a consequence, greater facility in the circulation of nervous fluid.

**3rd.** Tonification of abdominal organs and especially of the stomach, liver and intestine with consequent greater facility for these organs in the fulfillment of their various functions.

**4th.** Tonification of the muscles of the neck, thorax, back, abdomen and of the legs.

### Closing Blessing

**Peace to all beings.**

## Suddha Dharma Mandalam

### Internal News

The Central Protocol for the Ashramas of Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay had, **DURING THE MONTH OF JULY 1943**, the following movement of documents numbered 346 to 422, inclusive.

### Movement of Disciples

In the previous number (15) of LA INICIACIÓN we gave the situation of the 42 disciples who were performing the practical studies of Suddha, on June 30, 1943. Let us compare with the situation on July 31, 1943:

| Status | June 30 | July 31 |

|--------|---------|---------|

| Performing 1st Exercise | 8 | 17 |

| Performing 2nd Exercise | 16 | 12 |

| Performing 3rd Exercise | 15 | 16 |

| Performing 4th Exercise | 3 | 10 |

| **Total** | **42** | **55** |

There is, therefore, a numerical increase of 13 disciples in activity and also progress in the number of those who manage to achieve better realizations. In the figures given, some twenty persons are not included who already received the first exercise to initiate it on the August Full Moon.

### Contact Information

**Aspirants to spiritual practices:** Any person, member or not of Initiatic Orders, who desires to follow spiritual and respiratory practices, meditation, etc., can address: Dr. Jehel (S.D.M.), Box 317, Montevideo.

### Ashramas by Countries

On July 31, the number of disciples was distributed as follows:

- **Ashrama of Argentina:** 29

- **Ashrama of Brazil:** 6

- **Ashrama of Uruguay:** 21

- **Total:** 55

---

**Note:** This statistical report shows the remarkable growth and international reach of the Suddha Dharma Mandalam during the wartime period of 1943. The organization was effectively coordinating spiritual practices across three South American countries, with Uruguay maintaining the central administrative role under Jehel's direction from Montevideo. The progression through the four exercises demonstrates a structured curriculum designed to guide practitioners through increasingly advanced spiritual techniques.

# Document 37: Transcendent Psychology - The Ego, Subconsciousness and the Unconscious

**Translation from "La Iniciación" Vol. 2 No. 16-17, August-September 1943**

**By Wronski, A∴M∴**

## Transcendent Psychology (Continuation)

Nevertheless, when similar phenomena occur in our own body, it results almost impossible for us to abstract them from that. For example: when we are pricked in an arm we do not say that the resulting sensation is localized in the characteristic sensory organ, but that we ourselves are those who experience.

But, in saying we, we really want to say **I**. Now then, if at the moment that we find ourselves seated, someone, or something, had pricked the cushion of our seat, would we say that they had pricked us? We suppose not. The car is not I, but something distinct, the **NOT I**.

### The Metaphysical Distinction

Now then, if at the moment that we find ourselves seated, someone, or something, had pricked the cushion of our seat, would we say that they had pricked us? We suppose not. The car is not I, but something distinct, the **NOT I**.

### The Metaphysical Distinction

Metaphysically speaking — which coincides with the opinion of many philosophers — our physical body (as well as the etheric and astral) must be, as in the case of the automobile, considered as belonging to the **NOT I**. And whoever desires to reach the theoretical foundations of T.P. will have much ground covered if he manages to discriminate with precision this first difference between the **I** and the **NOT I**.

Of course, placing ourselves at a somewhat different point of view, one could argue that the solution of continuity is more apparent than real.

If we consider that unity (according to Pythagorean teachings) is the origin of all numbers and that each of these numbers represents a modification of unity, the logical and necessary conclusion of this syllogism is: that none of the numbers considered has ceased to be, at any moment, something different from the principle unity that animated them.

### The Ternary Law Applied

According to this, man, having his origin in the principle unity and, therefore, suffering the modifications of the diverse numbers or states of manifestation that he traverses in his descent into matter, would be identified in all these states; moreover, he would be precisely the motor that produces those states. From this we infer that **I** and **NOT I** would be one and the same thing contemplated from two different planes of observation.

If the ternary law, promulgated by Kabbalists of all times, lacks exceptions, one must agree on the exactness of this equation:

**(positive) I**

**(negative) NOT I**

**(neutral or balancing) I, NOT I**

### The Pendular Oscillation of Being

From the attentive study of this equation it emerges that in the neutral state, the **BEING**, that is, **MAN IN HIS TOTAL MEANING**, is simultaneously the I and the NOT I. But he is also the **MANIFESTING** principle and the **MANIFESTED**, consequently he will oscillate, in a manner we could call pendular, between the I and the NOT I. In other words: he is positive in his origin and negative in the course of incarnation. This explains the duality of the points of view enunciated and the exactness of the postulate sustained by T.P.

### The Automobile Analogy

Let us now pass to a second difference of a somewhat more subtle character, which we establish easily by returning to our automobile example.

This explains the duality of the points of view enunciated and the exactness of the postulate sustained by T.P.

### The Automobile Analogy

Let us now pass to a second difference of a somewhat more subtle character, which we establish easily by returning to our automobile example.

The mode according to which the mind recognizes the impressions that arrive from all regions of the organism much resembles the mode by which the diverse mechanical phenomena occurring in the motor are registered on the instrument panel. The nervous system, like the cables and transmissions to the panel, conducts to certain regions of the cerebral cortex the signals of what occurs in the diverse sections of the body.

The **I**, whose mediate instrument of knowledge is consciousness, perceives the diverse readings noted on the cerebral panel; but it also perceives that this panel and its recording apparatus, connected to the nervous network, are not itself but a marvelous mechanism placed at its disposition, to control and act upon the **NOT I**.

### The Question of Self-Initiation

And now a question that will permit us to establish an even more subtle difference: Could the motor put itself in motion by itself? We do not believe we exaggerate in affirming that it could not do so without our concourse and approval. But, if the motor had, like us, a brain capable of thinking, it would affirm categorically that it was the motor itself who pressed the bendix button.

Such an affirmation would result simply ridiculous to us, but if we think about it better we will find ourselves obliged to recognize that an identical affirmation is implicit in all our judgments and in the diverse states of mind we traverse.

### Desire vs. Will

We say: that I want this or that, and only because we want it do we expect that it will arrive immediately to our power. It occurs instead that many things we desire seem reasonable to the ego, and for not being so the desire continues being what it was.

What desires and what wants can be compared with the motor, and what decides and orders to the one who puts the motor in motion. Said in another way: The **NOT I** is what desires and wants and the **I** that which, expressing itself in consciousness and through will, satisfies or not the solicitations of the alter ego.

In the human being what thinks is not the brain. The thinker utilizes the brain the same as the body and its annexed organs; together they constitute his means of expression, from which comes that he suffers the limitations imposed by their specific passivity.

## SUBCONSCIOUSNESS

In the human being what thinks is not the brain. The thinker utilizes the brain the same as the body and its annexed organs; together they constitute his means of expression, from which comes that he suffers the limitations imposed by their specific passivity.

## SUBCONSCIOUSNESS

Let us now attack the problem of the subconscious. C.P. (Conventional Psychology) says that whatever is not conscious is unconscious, which is equivalent to saying that what is not light is shadow. But between light and shadow — we have already said — a region intercalates that we call penumbra. This penumbra is neither light nor darkness. What is it then? A synthesis of both opposites, in whose bosom multiplicity becomes unity.

Thus also between the conscious and the unconscious there will exist, by law of analogy, an intermediate region called, by T.P., **SUBCONSCIOUSNESS**.

### The Necessity of the Intermediate Region

Without this intermediate region the phenomena of attention are totally unintelligible. This leads us to certain considerations, whose tenor we had foreseen in the previous article (Cf. LA INICIACIÓN, No. 14).

Returning to the objects situated on the table, we said that they constituted the motive to focus attention. At this instant I look at them again and their aspect, which at the first moment seemed to me lacking interest, begins to awaken my curiosity. In effect, of the four enumerated objects there is one that ends up fixing my attention; it is the medal.

### The Mechanics of Attention

As we see, attention, involuntary, passive or spontaneous until now, is attracted by the interest or curiosity provoked by the medal. Now then: what is the determining cause of this interest? Generally an association of ideas. In any case, upon concentrating my attention on the aforementioned medal there will be verified a phenomenon of abstraction; something like the envelopment of the medal by means of vigilic consciousness; at the same time, the remaining objects (and in such character, components of the NOT I) will have disappeared from the field of my attention.

More clearly: a part of the exterior world, that is of the NOT I, will have ceased to be conscious.

### The Continuity Problem

For C.P. the enunciated phenomenon is almost inexplicable, since what ceases to be conscious ceases to exist. According to this it is impossible to understand how the subject of the phenomenon, that is, the I, can later reconstitute itself in the plenitude of its psychological life without noting a solution of continuity between its immediate present and the events transpired in the unconscious past.

T.P. preaches here the subconscious activity as the point of linkage between the two directions of time, thus permitting a clear and simple vision of psychic and psychological processes.

### Memory and Personality

T.P. preaches here the subconscious activity as the point of linkage between the two directions of time, thus permitting a clear and simple vision of psychic and psychological processes.

### Memory and Personality

It is the persistence, better said the continuity in chronological and psycho-physiological time that gives us the reality of the subconscious. It is through the action of this personage, ignored most of the time, that we recognize ourselves in the past and project ourselves into the future. The memory of the personality, which must not be confused with the memory of the species, which is characteristic of the unconscious, requires this presupposition of T.P.

## THE UNCONSCIOUS

Beyond this penumbra, in a much deeper region — delimited by an imaginary circle, which has sometimes been called the "fringe of consciousness" — enclosed in darkness that has resisted almost all illumination systems, we arrive at the region of the unconscious.

### Freudian and Jungian Contributions

The studies of Freud and especially those of his disciple Jung, have vulgarized the word "the unconscious" as a personification of this back room of human psychism in which can be discovered, following the sounding methods of Psychoanalysis, very strange and interesting things. We therefore believe it opportune to maintain the terminology used by these scholars, whose theories and psychiatric experiences far surpass the order of observed phenomena.

### The Dual Nature of the Unconscious

Let us say immediately that the Unconscious constitutes something like the secret supervisor of our physical and astral life. Its world is of an extension unknown to our sensory experience, although certain paranormal conditions may reveal to us some of its frontiers.

What is certain is that while on one side the Unconscious reveals itself to us as a true corporal consciousness, generally known by the name of instinct, on the other it appears to us as a superconsciousness whose intellective reach penetrates the most indecipherable arcana of being.

As we see, the term **superconsciousness** is here indicated, since it is generally unconscious for the majority of humans.

**Translation from "La Iniciación" Vol. 2 No. 16-17, August-September 1943**

## If It Were Possible!

Life is all beauty and harmony, but only will arrive to taste of its gifts, who arrives to love it, that is, to understand it, discovering its true as profound meaning. The perfect union of Wisdom and Love, will be the unique, sublime and infallible key, that will permit us to read and interpret the hieroglyphs of the great book of universal mystery.

### We Are Pages in the Book of Life

The perfect union of Wisdom and Love, will be the unique, sublime and infallible key, that will permit us to read and interpret the hieroglyphs of the great book of universal mystery.

### We Are Pages in the Book of Life

Each one of us, human creatures, we constitute a page of said immeasurable book of life; in each fragment of this, we come blank and we must write ourselves for our return; being able to be, said writing, more or less beautiful, good or wise, according to the reach of our comprehension, and, thus making of our living, a heaven or a hell.

Here is our work, and its value in every sense and time, that is, in the present and future, depends only on us, since it will be written with the thoughts, feelings and acts of our own and daily living.

### The Problem of Happiness

I believe, like those who think, therefore, only will arrive to be free or happy — which is the same — he who can arrive to think that he is. It results difficult to resolve this problem of happiness, because instead of considering it as a harmonic state, which is within our reach at every moment, we think of it, representing it as something that is found in a very distant place, with very difficult roads to travel to arrive.

But, if despite all the complications of which we are victims, we can, with indispensable perseverance, striving to understand, arrive even if it is no more, to have a tenuous glimpse of that reality, we will be saved; since said glimpse will connect us with the great Creative focus, from where we will receive again force, intelligence and Love; we will recover confidence in ourselves, since upon remembering what, in reality we are, faith will be reborn; thing that, like shipwrecked ones navigating adrift, we had lost.

### Taking Contact with the Creative Principle

If it were possible this, that is, to take contact with the Creative Principle, the words of Christ, **"Seek and you shall find"** and, **"Believe and you will be saved,"** will take immense reality and also the confession of the great mystics, of transforming themselves into true channels through which the Divine Spirit arrives to their souls and from these to other humans, will take reality, arriving to be understood at last, that, only putting oneself in contact with said Creative principle, will we be able to take the force of comprehension necessary, to love in all the extension of this word, all that which, by grace of the Divine Will exists.

### The Miracle of Resurrection

And, from this happy moment, in which it could be said that, the miracle of resurrection has been effected, life will recover before us its true, as hidden until then, meaning. Our mission to fulfill in it, will appear to us with all clarity, and, a sense of duty, never until then known, will strongly spur our will; at the same time our action, governed by clearest mind and heart overflowing with love, will be perfect; within, clear is, of the relativity that governs us.

Our mission to fulfill in it, will appear to us with all clarity, and, a sense of duty, never until then known, will strongly spur our will; at the same time our action, governed by clearest mind and heart overflowing with love, will be perfect; within, clear is, of the relativity that governs us.

Then we will be in conditions to be able to realize, what, in very beautiful form, Rudyard Kipling tells us in his poetry titled **"If It Were Possible"**... Which says thus:

### Rudyard Kipling's "If" (Spanish Translation)

> **"If you can see the work of your life destroyed,**

> **and, without saying a word, return to begin it;**

> **or lose, in one day, the gain of a hundred,**

> **without a gesture, nor a sigh;**

>

> **If you can be a lover and not be mad with love;**

> **if you manage to be strong without ceasing to be tender,**

> **and feeling yourself hated, without hating in turn,**

> **struggle and defend yourself;**

>

> **If you can bear that they falsify your words**

> **the rogues, to thus excite the fools;**

> **and hear how their false tongues calumniate you,**

> **without you yourself lying;**

>

> **If you can remain worthy, although you are popular,**

> **if you manage to be people and give counsel to kings,**

> **and to all your friends love like a brother,**

> **without any absorbing you:**

>

> **If you know how to meditate, observe, know,**

> **without arriving to be ever destroyer or skeptic;**

> **dream, but not let the dream dominate you;**

> **think, without being only a thinker;**

>

> **If you can be severe, without arriving at anger;**

> **if you can be audacious, without sinning of imprudent;**

> **if you manage to be good, and achieve to be wise,**

> **without being moral or pedantic;**

>

> **If you reach Triumph after Defeat;**

> **and receive with equal calm those two lies;**

> **if you can conserve your valor, your head,**

> **when others lose them,**

>

> **Then the Kings, the Gods, Fortune and Victory**

> **will be now forever your submissive slaves;**

> **and what you are worth more than Glory and Kings,**

> **You will be a Man, my son".**

---

**Note:** This meditation by Maya, S∴I∴ combines Christian mysticism with practical philosophy, using Kipling's famous poem "If" as a framework for spiritual development. The text emphasizes the importance of maintaining equilibrium between opposing forces — strength and tenderness, dream and reality, triumph and defeat — as the hallmark of spiritual maturity and true manhood.
